Novotel Frankfurt City

I would like to share my experience staying at Novotel Frankfurt City during past NYE 2017. We selected Frankfurt as our base that evening since we plan to experience New Year's celebration. In addition, our flight back to Asia also would be leaving from Frankfurt International Airport the next evening so that we needed a hotel that would accommodate our request in having late check-out until 5:00 pm the next day. Both of me and my wife took S-bahn train and got off at Frankfurt Messe station. It took both of us a good 700 metres to walk. Frankly speaking, tt was not an easy walk while dragging 2 big luggage with us. If you carry a big/heavy luggage, I personally would recommend you taking a taxi from Frankfurt (Main) Hbf which will cost approx. Euro 10 to 12 depending on the traffic condition. Check-in was prompt : Within 10 minutes, both of me and my wife entered our room which was located in the 6th floor. Our room was clean, well maintained and every single thing worked perfectly during our stay. The room condition certainly exceeded my initial expectation. I am fully aware with the fact this hotel is normally fully booked during exhibition and average hotels nearby exhibition halls tend to have slight inferior quality rooms compare to average business hotels. Initially, we both were quite cautious with the area surrounding the hotel particularly since it was quite. However, we found it was pretty safe : After celebrating New Year in the river's bank, we returned back around 1:15 pm by S-bahn and we still met several people on the street on our way back to the hotel. Breakfast was really good the next morning. Lots of people were in the breakfast area (I guess the hotel was fully booked the night before). We had a late check-out (approx. 4:30 pm), headed back to Frankfurt (M) Hbf and took S8 to Frankfurt International Airport. Overall, this is a good hotel and it is well located, near Frankfurt messe and Frankfurt (M) Hbf station, which makes it an ideal base both for business and pleasure purpose.

The Hotel was OK. The location is a little quiet being a business area however there is a very good Tram service a three minute walk from hotel. However I stayed over the New Year holiday and on the first night (Friday 29th) the bar and bar food service was closed. I was told that this was for only one night as an exception, despite there being many people around the lobby area. However this was not so. The bar was closed on return to the Hotel on the night of 31st at 00:40, and on returning from a day out on 1st of Jan at 20:00 the bar and food service were again closed. We were directed to the Mercure Hotel a good five minute walk in pouring rain on a cold night. There was no information informing clients of this at any point and no member of the Hotel staff informed me in advance. This I found totally unacceptable as the directory in the room states that the bar and food service is open daily from 06:30 to 01:00. This was very disappointing for what was meant to be a holiday break staying in a well known 4 start Hotel and would seriously put me off staying there again.

I am a silver Accor member and always go to this hotel whenever I visit Frankfurt. However, I have to comment that this time I was disappointed with the service. I asked to one of the receptionist guys for a late check-out (which I have the right to given my status) and while he initially seemed reluctant, he finally gave the ok. However, what happened in reality was otherwise. I had to bring my parents to the airport early in the morning and the reason why I asked for late checkout was so I could get some nap before my 4h drive to Munich. For some reasons there was a mix-up and I was disturbed during my nap 3 times in the space of 1 hour. I was tired, extremely annoyed, and finally decided to leave. The hotel is good as always but this time I didn't feel like I was treated as a returning customer.

Not really a 4 star hotel. Good for budget travelers. Still rooms are spacious and clean, bed and pillows are soft, but door isolation is awful and you can hear all the nose from corridors. Breakfast is rather modest. Receptionist work seemed to be chaotic both at check in and check out time.

What can I say?. From our first contact with the friendly and helpful staff, to the clean rooms with the comfortable beds, I'd say great. It couldn't have been better. We booked 2 rooms and there was enough space for 2 adults and 2 children in one room. Rich and fresh breakfast buffet. All the staffs that served us at breakfast were competent, helpful and courteous. Free parking within the hotel compound and at the street side. Only the hotel underground parking is not free. But it's free on weekends, i.e Saturdays and Sundays. My only disappointment was the superior room. It's just like any other room in the hotel except that you get to take 3 items (snacks) from the kiosk and fridge at the reception. The mini bar was just empty. And yes, you also get premium internet. There was only one bathrobe and one slippers for a room with 2 adults. Apart from these little things, the hotel is very good and I'd definitely recommend it.

No frills with this hotel. Stayed for 2 nights on business, room was dated and the facilities were average. Didn't sample the food but location was convenient for what I needed. I think there's better value out there.

I would never return to this hotel as there are much better hotels in the area for a similar price. The overall management was poor and the staff lacked customer service skills. Upon arriving I waited 25 minutes in a queue to check in and when I finally reached the desk I was told my booking could not be located. After some investigation the team finally found my booking (another 15 minute) and I had no apology for the long check in. The evening meal choices were poor with only approx 6 meal options being burger or salad. For the breakfast there were no tables left and I was forced to sit in the bar area... again the staff did not offer to find me somewhere to sit and acted as though I was an annoyance. The room was OK but did not offer anything more than other hotels in the area provide. Overall I found this hotel chaotic and unorganised.

I stay on Novotel or Mercure hotels all over Europe and I have to say that this one is in need of an upgrade and deep clean. There was a terrible sewage smell everyday in the corridors leading to the bedrooms and this was then very strong when using the sink in the bathroom everyday. I wouldn’t recommend staying here as there are better options around the same area.

Stayed in Nov 2017 and had a terrible experience. Only one night however stayed in a room that was disgusting. Looked like a prison cell and wasn't not clean in the slightest!! Dirty pillow cases with someone else's dribble on them - yuck!! Will never stay here again.

Restaurant has limited choices at prices that are high enough to encourage braving the rain to get out and find something else. I ate here on arriving night and had a lacklustre Caesar Salad. The room was acceptable and clean with a very comfortable bed. Too much woodchip wallpaper for my liking, though! The air conditioning did not really cool the room down so I slept with the window open. I enjoyed listening to the sounds of the city, especially the trams and trains. The windows are totally soundproof when closed. I found BBC World on the TV but unfortunately the service did not work, so I had to test my German to the limits, which is not a bad thing, just a shame not all the channels were available. I would come back to this hotel.
