I stayed at this hotel with a friend after the Frankfurt motor show. Check in/out was both OK, booked this hotel because it was the cheapest one I could find close to the train station and now I can see why. The beds/shower are pleasant enough but the stairway and room absolutely stunk and was difficult to escape unless you left the building. I would advise paying a little bit more money to stay somewhere else.
My Wife and I recently had the misfortune of staying at this dump! The place is old, filthy and in desperate need of renovation and overall general maintenance. Dirty rooms with stains and scuffs on the carpet and walls. Disgusting bathroom that reeked of mold with no ventilation. The entire place from top to bottom quite simply stinks! We were offered complimentary breakfast by at least two staff members - we wouldn't have dreamed of eating there otherwise. Upon checkout they attempted to charge us for the breakfast. The old bait and switch routine! I refused to pay. The angry little man behind the counter instantly became violent and crazed. He verbally and physically assaulted my Wife and I. He began throwing our bags around and was quickly joined by other moronic members of the staff. They were so loud and abusive that passersby attempted to come to our aid. The little man who was no longer behind the counter but in my face threatened to KILL me!!! We were made fearful for our safety and well being. All of this for a measly 15 Euro? What planet are they on? I can tell you they are certainly not from Germany... I felt as if I was cast into some ridiculous middle eastern TV sitcom. We were running late for our flight. To diffuse the situation I paid the little thief for our "free" breakfast and we were on our way quite shaken. The food was horrible and of the lowest quality BTW. We are contacting the Frankfurt Police to file a report on all of this. AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Pros - very close to Hauptbahnhof, bed / sheets were clean and comfortable, bathroom was clean, front desk was friendly and helpful and allowed early check-in as a room was available. Cons - walls are very thin, can hear conversations / laughing / shower / closets opening from room next door. Bad smell on the stairway (however not in the room thankfully). Area around the Hauptbahnhof is quite dirty (but did not feel unsafe). Carpet in the room did not seem that clean. If you need a room just for 1 night - it was fine. As I said - bed was clean and comfortable and bathroom was clean and sometimes that's all you need.
We checked various hotels before booking and chose this one as it’s close to the station and not far to walk, it looked nice on their website. On arrival it still seemed nice until we went for the lift, it’s so small the two of us found it slightly claustrophobic. Up to the 5th floor, there are 6 rooms here had to switch on the light to be able to see and into the room which is small. There are very little facilities in the room and nothing for making a tea or coffee which for us is important. It’s a noisy hotel as the walls are very thin - we heard someone’s alarm going off at 5am. We didn’t book breakfast here as it’s only cold cuts but there are nice places to eat all over. This hotel was well placed for visiting Frankfurts Christmas Market with tram stops just outside the door. The market is fantastic and I would recommend seeing them. Germany does not cater for disabled people as the city is an old one but even so most places to eat and shops were accessible.
Basic hotel. Ideal location about 200 yards from the main station. There is a tram stop directly outside. We paid £99 for 2 nights and I consider this great value for money. Room was small but clean, maybe a little dated but certainly got exactly what I was after for money paid. Room had a safe and a fridge. Shower and toilet a little small but fine for a weekend stay. Staff were extremely polite, spoke and understood English very well and appreciated may attempts at using basic German. If you want a cheap, clean basic hotel in a great location then look no further.
I paid for my stay with miles, so I can't speak about the price/value relationship. I just needed a room close to Haupbahnhof and wasn't expecting much but it actually was a nice surprise. I stayed in a single room and the bed was actually big for one person. The carpet wasn't clean and I didn't dare walk barefoot in it, but other than that the rest of the room (including the restroom) was clean. They were nice and held my luggage before checking in at the reception at no charge.
Hotel Munchner Hof is an easy 200 meter walk from the central Frankfort bahnhof (train station). I enjoyed an overnight stay. My room overlooked the street and had a single bed, built-in closet with a safe for valuables, desk with flat-screen TV, WIFI, and small refrigerator. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was sparkling. There was lots of hot water in the shower with body wash soap provided. The friendly staff spoke English and cheerfully tolerated my (awful) German. I asked about hot water for tea, and they provided an electric kettle. Ethnic restaurants, pubs, small grocery stores, banks and tourist information were all within a 3-block radius. I walked along the Main River (4 blocks) and into the old town (8 blocks). A street tram runs along Munchner Strasse, both a positive (accessibility all over Frankfort) and a negative (noise). There was street noise during the day, but it was somewhat quieter at night (keeping the double-paned windows shut helped). The Hotel Munchner Hof provides excellent value for a 3-star hotel.
We spent three nights in this hotel which is located a few metres on the opposite side of Frankfurt HBF. We were strongly shocked by the scenery of this focal point of Frankfurt. It seems like there is a high degree of "laissez-faire" by the authority, judging by the state of insalubrity of the streets, the high level of noise pollution round-the-clock generated by trains, trams & more so, refugees and revelers on the street. Ear-plugs are a must if you are allocated a room facing the street. Otherwise, all places of interest are located at walking distances. Supermarkets, shops, bars, adult entertainments and restaurants are at arm length distances. The room-rate for this hotel is highly competitive and we could not find any better match. Public transport is available till late. The reception staff were all very approachable and at our disposal to make our stay an easy one. Keep up the good work team!
This hotel is a great value compared to others in the area and is very close to the main Frankfurt Train Station. All the employees were friendly, our room was a good size and even had a mini-fridge. The breakfast, which was an additional charge, was a good value for the money too. There are a ton of shops and restaurants nearby and it is an easy walking distance to museums and the lovely park along the Main River. The only slight negative was that the room's old-style key had a lot of bulk to carry around. Highly recommend; in fact, we will be back in September!
We stayed Friday to Sunday. €84 each for the whole stay. Central location, ideal for cafes, bars and in walking distance to the train station. Nice room with good ensuite. Although it was town centre, it was quiet. Would definitely stay again.
