This was one of the best hotels for two ladies traveling. We had a nice room and undercovered parking. The staff was extremely friendly and we always spoke our fingers in the sweets on the counter. The bar in the room was always fully stock with soft drink. The best was the tea table and cake in the morining to help yourselves with. We had breakfast every morning and supper. We could walk to shops and even to the station I think you must just enjoy the walking. We even visited a Brauhaus for cold drinks. The tour that we book was so nice and we actually saw alot, We went hop on hop off and that is the best way.
We stayed 2 nights in the Monopol Hotel and had an incredible experience. From the first moment we where so well treated by a very kind staff. The rooms are pretty and the size is perfect. The beds are also very comfortable. This made our stay feeling like in a fairy tale! Thank you Hotel Monopol!
Right outside Frankfurt main train station there is a myriad of hotels, many looking seedy but a few bigger names in the mix. The Monopol seems like the clasic in the street, exterior sculptures, inside some marble columns and big chandeliers, old leather club lounges. Efficient and pleasant staff happy to help in several languages. So the room, top floor front, very clean, comfortable and a good space for two. The products in the room are L,occitane an excellent quality product, feels and smells great. The minibar, a couple of beers, pepsis juices and a still and sparkling water, FREE and replaced daily, how good is that!!! Fantastic breakfast with a great selection, served from 5am to 11 am, from then until 6pm there is water, juice, coffee and cake available in the foyer again all free. As a hotel it is comfortable and rather quiet, although there was a constant stream of checkins and not all of them had bookings. I have to say probably one of the best value hotels ive ever stayed in without compromising on comfort or facilities and you dont have to wait long for an elevator. The neighberhood seems a bit seedy but it is right at the main train station. Would i recommend it? Yes i would, but as ive said before, if your after hilton, hyatt or luxury 5 star, then go to them.
Where to start? Supposedly got a 'renovated' room. Far from reality! Curtains disgusting, damaged, coffee, sugar, cups at the bottom of dirty cupboard, almost no internet (comment from front desk - “you should be patient, it is just for viewing, not work) Dirty floors in room, sticky and unhygienic Dirty/stained towels Hallway carpets - enough for me to have to go to pharmacy for anti-allergy The receptionist did offer me an alternative room on the ground floor, BUT close to the kitchen and the carpets were just as dirty and disgusting. This would not have made a difference to the allergic reaction I had within the hotel – and the reason why I did not accept the room either. And working only in the lobby (with the poor Wifi) was not an option for me. booking.com intervened to arrange for a refund as the room had not met my expectations and certainly not those of a 4-star hotel, but the hotel refused. Also, long before I even checked in, the reservation amount had been billed on my credit card, after a phone call, reversed and again charged to my credit card the day before my arrival - although during the booking process, I had selected payment at Hotel. A complete rip-off!! Never again!! Photos of the room and hallways are ignored, not published. Next step is a complaint with The European Consumer Centre Germany as well as one of the leading newspapers to review and publish this horrendous excuse of a hotel.
Hot & stuffy hotel! No AC in the rooms only a lousy fan. Oh yes, you can open the window to be woken by all the noise overnight. Service by the receptionist was very professional, sadly that’s where our smiles ended. For the price it’s listed, had we known, we would’ve stayed at another hotel. Again, the photos advertised to what we got was not accurate. And for us it was no big deal on the free mini bar. We prefer the comfort of a good bed in a comfortable room over 2 bottles of juice, 2 Pepsi & 2 beers.
Very nice hotel right next to the main station. Great location. Easy access to all transportation. Friendly staff, clean, big room… an old style hotel. Stayed here for two nights. Can recommend this for a short stay.
Centrally located, and a bit old fashioned hotel with clean rooms and free minibar. My room was small and the bed ands pillow were comfortable. It was a warm day and I had to keep the window wide open as there is no AC, which wasn't a problem. The young lady at the front desk was friendly and very patient checking in a Chinese guest who didnt speak any English or German. I didnt have breakfast at the hotel as I prefer the great bakeries (and Starbucks) inside the railway station across the street.
The location of this hotel is right across the street from the main train station and there are several bars and restaurants nearby. Its convenient location is the best part of this hotel. Although I would recommend walking to other neighborhoods in the area. The lobby is very stately with high ceilings and chandeliers, but it is very dated. Check in was good and quick. There is a very small elevator that takes you to your room. The room itself is very tiny, but comfortable. I had a huge air conditioning unit it my room so I slept comfortably. My friend didn’t have one and had to sleep with the windows open. The room has high ceilings so the windows were quite large. The restroom is tiny, but it was usable. The mini bar is complimentary with sodas and beer. There were also small snacks and drinks in the lobby as well.
So pitty this hotel has no airco , was there several times , the hotel itself is nice , good breakfast and friendly staff , bud the last time i stayed it was quiet hot outside and without airco nearly impossible to sleep , so sorry as the hotel is oke
Think “Hotel Budapest” - in a good way. Old school class, high ceilings etc. now a little rundown/dated. Staff were friendly and the location is very convenient next to the main station. Breakfast starts at 5am, excellent for those with an early flight.
