This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms reeked of B.O. as soon as you stepped inside. The room is so tiny it made my dorm room from college look spacious. The room was dirty, as is the hallways, the lobby, and everything else at this place. The mattress must have been from the 60's. I was reminded of the hotel that Tom Hanks stayed in during the Big movie. Scary neighborhood also. Do not stay here! There are better places near the train station.
The hotel is not honestly advertised. The decor and condition claimed is only relevant to the foyer and the dining area. This place has had no maintenance whatsoever since a very dated slap of paint. The rooms (yes we moved rooms so tried out two in our three night stay) have a very musty and dusty odour. We are used to camping in bush huts and can definitely sleep rough but this place is appalling. The beds are saggy creaky boxed in kind of things. We booked a double bedroom - and both rooms we were in had two thin single duvet covers as bedding. The whole place beyond the foyer is in darkness with rank old leaked on carpets and light switches that sometimes work and sometimes don't. The night staff know nothing and give the barest information possible. The weekend staff try but if anything is too hard they just say wait for the main lady during the week. No one cracks a smile. You can't use the laundry and you can't make a cup of coffee in the dining room/kitchen area with your own supplies even. Everything is filthy and this is not the fault of the lovely lady who does the daily cleaning as she very obviously mops and cleans the basics etc but the filth is from year upon years of dust and dirt and grime and neglect getting into every nook and cranny. The air conditioning is not used to keep the hotel at a comfortable level, it's like it's used only when absolutely necessary. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and they are stifling hot even going into autumn. It has a real feel about it that whoever is running the place is just taking the cream and leaving the rest to sour. Train station just across the road and sights a 15 minute stroll. Extremely noisy street life take ear plugs. Not worthy of even the moderate price we paid. The surrounding area has an unsafe at night feel about it even with us out and about as a couple. Definitely wouldn't stay out late at a more preferred venue in a nicer area and then try to walk home through the homeless and some of the other drunken idiots on the immediate streets around the hotel. Very disappointed. If we didn't have our train ticket already booked and paid for for a date in 3 days time we would have uplifted and caught the train the next day immediately to our next location, missing the lovely sights in main Frankfurt.
Basic rooms but not so clean. There is a lot of noise from the street. I came here with higher expectations, but unfortunately they were not met. Although, it is a central hotel with quite helpful staff.
The decor is funky, the staff we encountered were invariably lovely and helpful, and even let us have a late checkout for free (the standard checkout is already quite late at midday, we were able to stay till 1:00). And they looked after our bags until our 11pm bus! The housekeeping every day was of a high standard, our room was spacious and bright with a large window. Given some of the other reviews on TripAdvisor, I did not have very high expectations, but all of our needs (and wants) were met and exceeded. As we had a private bathroom I can't comment on the state of the public bathrooms, but if they are as well kept as the rest of the hotel, I can't imagine they would be bad (and a note: some have pointed out the potentially "ironic" or "tongue-in-cheek" label "bad bathroom" on the doors - from what I understand, "bad" is simply the German word for "bath"). My only reservation about this place is that it is located near a rather seedy district that feels unsafe at night, but this area can be avoided, and the proximity to the train station, restaurants and supermarkets as well as walkable distance to tourist attractions and business areas is very convenient. Good value for money when you can find a special deal.
about 5 minutes walk to the main train station, very good location. But for a girl better not come back too late at night because tramp there made me feel a little scared. But one night is OK. By the way, I've ordered a room without toilet, there's only two bathroom on the 2nd and 5th floor,so I suggest maybe order a room with own bathroom is better.
Just the name is COLOUR hotel but rest everything can be graded as DARK ! I asked a friend to book a hotel room close to station in Frankfurt for me. At 5 PM there was no one at the reception and I had to wait for 10 minutes before a very unclean person approached me and ask in rude way “what do you want ?” Politeness and respect to a Lady guest ?? The check-in was totally unprofessional and rude. The single room was smaller than my toilets at home. The carpet was dirty and stale stuffy smell of tobacco was in the room. The cleaning staff didn’t bother old garbage was still in the bin. The bed is small and the mattress finished its job last years. Pillows are smelly. Shared bathroom and toilets are not on the same floor. The hallways are dark and foul smell of weed although its non-smoking hotel. Noise from doors, people walking in hallways and street disturbs you all night. Shared bathrooms are also not really for a lady. Cigarette butts and other garbage lying around there. Spots of old soap and fungus on the walls and nothing to talk about hygiene. I wanted to show the room and hallway condition to my friend but the rude person at the reception Mr. OLIVER didn’t allow him to go upstairs. There is no such law which prohibits anyone to visit the room. In a very unfriendly way the receptionist stated “”I make the laws here and you cannot go upstairs even for 5 minutes. “” He demanded the keys when we went out for dinner. I will NEVER stay or recommend this un COLOUR ful hotel to anyone, especially to single ladies. I wonder why this hotel is still on the list.
After I booked this hotel 3 months in advance & payment was non refundable, I arrive at the hotel and was told that since my room was flooded with water, they had to send me to another hotel. Guess what, they sent me 5 km away. I paid 190 euro per day to have a hotel right in front of the station and was sent 5 km away. No apologies and was made to sign credit card voucher before being told of the move. Very unfair treatment.
Solo room is ok for one night. Big enough for solo traveler but you shower is shared and need to go up to the next floor. Very near to train station. Check in check out was smooth. They allowed to store luggage after check out.
Front desk was nice and friendly, location was unbeatable, however, the room was just ok. 1) There are several lights went off, include the one on hallway one in my room at first and my bathroom light went off in the middle of night. Overall I felt the hotel was dark... 2) The bathroom was not so clean, there were yellow spots at the corner and tiles. 3) My door handle made a weird sound in the middle of the night, sounds like either someone walked into a wrong room or some handle mechanism failed?
We traveled to Frankfurt to visit friends who had recently moved there. They didn't have any recommendations on a hotel, so I chose Colour Hotel from a travel site, based on a "deal of the day" price. The room comfortably accommodated my family of four - we each got our own twin bed. in addition to the beds, there was a wardrobe and a table/desk mounted to the wall. This was located directly across from the HBf (main train station) and was extremely convenient when we arrived via train from Paris, and then when we needed to get to the airport. It appears to be an industrial building that was converted into a hotel. The hotel has a good, complimentary breakfast buffet and was clean. The unnerving part was not the small shower, or even the slanting floors, but that the room key was on this huge lime-green paddle thing (too big for a pocket) and we were told at check-in to hand in the key at the desk every time we left the hotel. Word of caution if booking: We found out that some rooms share bathrooms. Be sure to book one with a private bath if that is a priority.
