The hotel was nice and it was clean. The stay was for a family wedding over a weekend so although the staff was great and breakfast was great the cleaning staff did not refresh the room. We had little ones and did need more towels, etc... but no one came even though we asked for extra linens.
The rooms are alright... The sofa beds are in desperate need of new mattresses. The staff are wonderful.. my tot made a gigantic mess with a muffin and I offered to clean it up but the sweet guy doing housekeeping wouldn't let me. He was so nice about it. Sliding doors to the pool... If you want sleep or have kids do not get these rooms. You hear EVERYTHING. The restaurant.. omg the food is fantastic and the staff are so great. I had the chicken with cheese and bacon and it was amazing... Great breakfast food too! (Just please make your coffee stronger) The pool was nice and clean.... The hot tub was great.. more towels would be lovely. All in all super happy with our stay and will totally come again.
Pro's: Nice staff; breakfast that's included is pretty good Con's: Paper-thin walls. The person in the room next to us had their TV on and they might as well have been in our room it was so loud. You can hear every noise in all the rooms around you. Above us sounded like horses were walking around, and the rooms next to us you can hear conversations, showers, hair dryers, tvs, etc. If you are a light sleeper like me, you can't get a good night's sleep here without earplugs. Also, they gave us a handicap-accessible room and we didn't request it nor need it. We were on a tight turnaround when we checked in so we didn't have time to go back to the desk to switch rooms. Shouldn't have had to either since we didn't request that room. The shower hits you in the waist in case you're wondering why it's a problem, and the closet has a low hanging bar only. There's no in room safe. I don't think we'll stay here again. Too noisy.
Cassidy during check in was not pleasant at all. When I've stayed in other holiday inns they Great me by my IHG membership and tell me about my check in points. She didn't. Most also tell you where everything is. Ex. Pool is down the hallway, elevator location, and etc. Also why in the world would you have pictures of breakfast on the backside of your elevator when we don't even get free breakfast?! That doesn't make any sense. Your elevator was broken during my second nights stay. My girlfriend was already afraid of the scary elevators since this place is so old. So that made her even more uneasy. We obviously weren't told by Cassidy where the stairs were so we couldn't take that to make her vacation better. The hot tub made my girlfriend and I very itchy. Housekeeping didn't clean our room very well. There were junk left under the bed and under the chair in the corner. Why would you ever put a coffee maker in the bathroom?! That's disgusting. Don't you know that a toilet can spray up to 10 feet?! Nasty nasty nasty. Your staff obviously needs a lot more training. I mean I get that you're flint so it's ghetto... but your staff doesn't need to be that way at all. Holiday inn is supposed to be semi classy. But you all are running a Baymont in my eyes. Wish I could give you a negative star review because that's what you all deserve!
Location is the primary benefit of staying here. It's adequate. Both at check in and check out we perceived a wee bit of attitude about the fact that we booked through a third party (Booking.com). Seems like ALL guests should be as warmly welcomed without comment on how they booked. The room we stayed in had beds that we could feel the bed springs in. Seemed a bit aging, but also seemed clean. Nice to have a Keurig and pods in the bathroom.
I was booked a room at this hotel through work, so I knew going in that it couldn't be that bad. It is on the older side of hotels, but I really like the architecture of the hotel. The lobby was clean and inviting, and the desk staffers that I interacted with were very polite and welcoming. We had a conference at the hotel, and the staff that helped us with that did a great job at making us feel welcome and making sure we had all that we needed. The room was nice, with plenty of light. The cleanliness left a little to be desired but it wasn't disgusting. The beds were very comfortable and I like that pillows with different softness levels were available, making for an even more comfortable sleep. The wi-fi wasn't the best, but it got the job done.
This Holiday Inn has all the comforts I am looking for when I travel and I found the staff very helpful. I was very pressed with everything. Upon check-in I met the most adorable young lady named Makayla. She took the extra effort to make sure I received the room that met all my comfort levels. Thank you Makayla, the room was roomy, clean and the bed was very comfortable. I was able to get a drink and thank you Alyssa for be such an adorable and pleasant bar tender. I loved that I was able to order room service and just kick my shoes off and rest. Thank you Sam for delivering a wonderfully hot meal with a smile and kindness. I can't say enough about how impressed I was with this hotel. They had me at Hello!!
Our ball team was in Flint for a tournament. The original hotel we were booked into was let's just say not up to standards for cleanliness. Our entire team and families were moved to this Holiday Inn by Flint and Genesee Tourism. We were amazed and appreciative of how the Holiday Inn team looked after us. they rushed to clean rooms to get us in sooner, gave us use of really nice room for team meals and made sure we were happy with our rooms. This hotel is super clean, has a nice restaurant, is located in a great place, has meticulous staff and clean and comfortable rooms. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and especially their staff. An excellent choice for travel teams.
Needed a hotel for a night and the staff was nice upon arrival, but seemed like many things were not functioning or the employee checking me was having a bad day. Breakfast area staff was extremely rude not a good place for softball teams needing food to go.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Flint when flying through the local airport and my usual hotel wasn't available. My expectations were low. After all, this is an older hotel near an airport in an economically depressed city that can't get any good publicity. Over 20-plus years I've probably stayed here a dozen times. It was renovated about six years ago when Holiday Inn updated its brand standards. While generally fine the decor was starting to show a little age here and there. Also, the lobby feels very 1996, though that's more a result of the building's architecture. The lack of cleanliness was really disappointing. My room had pubic hair in the bed and shower. It actually looked like housekeeping only changed the duvet, as the sheets had too much hair and indentations to have actually been clean and fresh. The front desk switched me to a new room, but it was a lower category room than I booked. Also, there were a couple long strands of dark hair on my pillows. I'm guessing this is from the housekeeper, as the rest of the bed was clean and without hair. The hotel should probably have its housekeepers wear hair nets. By this point it was pretty late at night and I didn't want to switch rooms again. I decided to just sleep without pillows, as I was leaving on the first flight of the morning. Room service was supposed to be operational until 10 p.m., I was told the attendant was gone for the night when I called down by 9:30 p.m. I went down to the restaurant, where the only seating was at the bar. There were a half-dozen other guests drinking at the bar, all of whom were clearly drunk and were using profane -- like really, really obscene words. I decided to place a carry-out order as I didn't want to sit in that kind of environment. I get that people talk that way at a bar, but this is a bar/restaurant in a family-friendly hotel. It's completely classless. The bartender should also stop serving guests who are clearly drunk.
