Best times to visit Fairfield

Not everyone in Fairfield calls it a night after sundown. Party with the night owls at Joe's American Bar & Grill, 55 Wine Bar & Restaurant and Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant.

Arts and culture in Fairfield

Get a taste of culture at The Discovery Museum and The Barnum Museum, where exhibits offer some serious insights into the world around us.

The artworks at City Lights and Housatonic Museum of Art showcase charm, retrospective insights and forward-thinking ideas — all painted across canvases, carved onto sculptures and maybe even laid into jewelry.

Fancy a little knowledge or something to read on the trip home? Head to the well-stocked bookshelves of Fairfield Public Library. University of Bridgeport offers its own brand of higher knowledge — soak it in with a campus tour.

La Quinta Inn & Suites Stamford/New York City

Close to party we went to

Gave requested early arrival/later stay. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. And, fitness/pool area was sufficient.

HYATT house Shelton

Under construction, but very nice stay

I enjoyed my weekend at the Hyatt House. The staff was nice as were the hotel amenities. My first room had to be changed because the heat wasn’t working, but that got resolved quickly. The only inconsistency from the hotel’s online description is that the made-to-order breakfast is currently not available (and I was not given an answer on how long that service is suspended), which I definitely found to be a disappointment.

Norwalk Inn and Conference Center

New room but somewhat smaller than expected

Late check in for an overnight stop on road trip up the coast. Room was new and modern. I reserved a room with 2 queens but got 2 doubles instead but didn't see that as an option when booking. I'm almost 6 ft with a bad back and neck so sharing a double with my wife is not comfortable at all. Room was very clean including the bath. I thought the bath was large with plenty of room but there was only a shower in the corner. It seemed a little cramped and would not be as convenient as a tub/shower for a child. I was also traveling with my 10 yr old son.
