TownePlace Suites by Marriott Elko2.5 out of 5.0

This was a one night layover on our way back to the bay area. We had been staying at Fairfield properties as we traveled across the country, and this property seemed a notch below those offerings. The hallway carpet is in need of an upgrade, and the shower head in our bathroom was poor quality. The cabinets in our bathroom were also peeling and in need of an upgrade. The per night cost of $138, including taxes, seemed high, for a place in the middle of nowhere. But, for those travelers crossing westward thru Nevada, Elko has the most options for accommodations, so take your pick among the similar offerings. This was ok, but not great value.
we generally are very impressed with marriott properties - unfortunately not this one. the front desk folks, particularly Arielle, were most helpful and kind, and we appreciated this. however, our suite was not exactly clean, most importantly the floors, and we were unsure of other guest remnants, and we requested another which took some time. we did receive a satisfactory room after it was cleaned -some 1/2 hour had passed since our entry into the lobby at post 5pm. (so unclear why other rooms were not available earlier (even at 3 or 4pm - a normal check in time...) but the sink was clogged in bathroom and went down very slow - the front desk offered to have it fixed - but hey, who wants a maintenance man in your room for a time after 10 hours on the road. OK, the hotel common areas: lobby lounge has ripped and worn upholstery, all common carpets are stained, and halls are graced with occasional waste, -- not a major issue but i'm not usually thinking this is a marriott property; So FAIL: where is any attention to detail? and speaking of details the breakfast was one of the worst, - marriott breakfasts are usually weak but this was one of the worst.
Although we didn't use the full kitchen that these suites have, if we had stayed longer, we might have cooked. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice. The rooms themselves are pretty large ,clean and comfortable. There is a pool, a small gym and an outdoor grill. Good place to stay.
We were traveling through from Yellowstone and were excited to see the amazing layout for this suite. Hubs and I, my mom, and our 7yo and toddler had plenty of room. This looked like a small apartment, with a full kitchen, sitting room with pullout sofa bed and nice tv, and TWO king bedrooms, each with their own door, tv, and closet. Great setup. The bathroom was at the end of the hallway and while the toilet and shower were like a separate water closet, the vanity had its own little room and door too. Breakfast was good, and even though the hours were crazy (4:30am-9:00am), the staff were friendly and accommodating even on our way out at 10:00 to grab some juice and water for the kids. The pool also had crazy hours, 24/7! But we didn't get a chance to use it. Everything was perfect.... until we went to sleep. Each room had its own AC which was awesome, but for several hours in the middle of the night it sounded like the outer units (??) were actually clothes dryers tumbling sheets of metal. It was awful. It was so loud it woke the baby. There was nothing we could do about it and really put a damper on an otherwise lovely stopover. I hope they experience this themselves after midnight to see how disturbing it is and fix it.
My mom and I went on a road trip from California to Kansas to visit family. We stayed at 2 hotels on the way and 3 on the way back, of the five hotels we stayed in, this was by far our favorite. As two women traveling alone through unknown cities, our first priority was safety and the need to feel comfortable in the hotels we are staying. Not only did we feel comfortable, this hotel provided perks and amenities we didn't even know we needed or wanted. This was our first stop on our trip and we proceeded to compare every hotel we stayed in after to this one. Spoiler alert: not one held a candle to this one. 1. Full sized kitchen! I'm talking full sized refrigerator, stovetop, oven, microwave, coffee maker, sink.. they even provide dish soap. 2. Outlets galore! 3. Smart TV! If you have a Netflix or Hulu account, this is an awesome plus. 4. Dining and sitting area. I cannot stand to sit in a bed and eat dinner. The large sitting and dining area were amazing. 5. Close proximity to restaurants, gas stations, and easy on and off the freeway. 6. A room key was required to enter any door that was not the main entrance. 7. Very friendly and attentive staff. 8. Great free breakfast! The only con was that the ice machine was broken. This was not a huge problem and the front desk did offer to get us ice from their kitchen, however, I did think it was a bit odd that there was only one ice machine for the entire hotel. Overall, this is a comfortable, clean and safe place to stay in Elko, NV. We plan to stay here again in the future and we will definitely be recommending to our friends and family passing through the area.
It was a great experience right from the checking in with Ariel. Room was nice and clean, breakfast was good. Would stay again. The location was perfect. Staff was able to suggest a good local place for dinner.
Between the service, the cleanliness, the grounds, and the quiet, this hotel is A1. The staff at the front desk is unbelievably friendly and attentive. They know your name immediately and any time you come and go , you are immediately greeted by name and a big smile. In particular, Jacqueline and Ariel were just lovely. Other guests who had been here for a much longer time period also told me how terrific the staff were. We had a one bedroom which was spotless and very comfortable. The grounds are very nice with a back section with lots of grass and nice chairs and tables. The area is lovely with a view of the mountains and close to nice residential areas. It is so quiet even with the windows open that you are guaranteed a perfect night's sleep! It is a terrific hotel and one would be hard pressed to find even the smallest problem.
We were pleasantly surprised on the accommodation of the TownePlace Suites. Upon arrival Jacqueline at the front desk was bombarded with ringing phones as well as people checking in. She handled the hectic situation courteously, and was able to get us in a room with little wait. We were very pleasantly surprised on how nice and roomy the rooms/suites are, we had been recommended this Marriott by family, and it did not disappoint. Great visiting family with pool area and outdoor courtyard. Will definitely stay here again.!
As with most Marriott properties, the staff here was great. They were well informed and very friendly. The room was clean and provided living options such as refrigerator, stove and microwave for eating in. They offered a breakfast with a variety of dietary options. The hotel was situated close to I-80 and downtown Elko.
I pass threw Elko, NV a few times a year for business and find myself always checking into the TownPlace Suites. It's convenient location, friendly staff and clean rooms keep me coming back. Not the least expensive in town but worth the extra couple of dollars!
