We spent 4 nights here recently. The room was clean with plenty of storage, an excellent kitchen area and good layout of the room. Breakfast is good....you have to dash out one door and in another to get there. Coffee is excellent. No noise in hallways. Our only complaint is that our room did not get cleaned 2 days in a row. We called the first day (at 3:30) and someone came right away. The second day was a total miss.
After an 8 hour drive in white out snow conditions we arrived to be met with a COMBATIVE! front desk girl named Dejeane. The place was empty and I asked for an upgrade - she said NO. Then she showed me my room on a map so I then asked for a room closer to the elevator - she said NO. We went to the room and I was very angry at the distance to the elevator so I called down and demanded she move us because the hotel appeared empty. She then confessed that she lied and the hotel was NOT FULL but that none of the rooms were clean. We saw linens outside the hallways all over the place at night time when we checked in. I told her that I was calling management and she said don't bother "I will call them for you!" I was shocked at her argumentative combative response so I called Marriott 800 number and in the middle of the night in the snow I was trying to get moved to a Fairfield. We stayed in the 2nd room that she all of a sudden had available. Upon waking the next morning we were horrified at the breakfast buffet. I immediately went to the front desk and asked the General Manager to come look at what your paying customers are being served. His name was "Steve Duhonich" All I need to do here is post the pictures and you be the judge of the disgusting display of a breakfast. He would not even pull the food after I personally brought him over to the buffet. He used his fingers and picked up a sausage and bent it in half. I was shocked at that unprofessional act from him. He told me that he left the burnt food on the buffet in case anyone wanted the burnt food until the new food came out. I was not the only person that asked for new food there were 3 others I counted and all 3 ignored. I was the only one that brought this poor quality to the GM's attention the other complained to the cook which was on deaf ears. Lastly take a look at the bedroom photo's I posted the mattress had fluid stains on it and mold on the wall in the bathroom the linens were soiled and ripped. The outside grounds had trash on every side piled over and on the ground the dog poop trash can was overflowed and on the ground. I did speak up but this property needs new management and perhaps someone from corporate to clean it up. It is not a sanitary hotel to stay in at all. I will say that I am thankful this was our last day of the 7 day trip otherwise this would have ruined our family vacation.
We are Marriott reward members and have been for over 20 years. In all of our visits to Marriott, I have never experienced such a lack of attention to basic maintenance. The room was fine, but the heating unit was so loud we could not hear the TV and the room was so dry, my nose bled on the 3rd day. Walks were not shoveled of the snow. Outdoor trash cans were brimming with trash. Exterior vents were hanging off the building. Bags of dirty laundry sitting outside the entrance door off the parking lot. The location of this Residence Inn leaves a lot to be desired and was difficult to find upon first arriving. Also, we were given a room in a building completely separated from the main building so we had to walk outside (in the frigid temps and snow) to go to breakfast. We will not be back.
I usually stay at the Livonia Mariott but a few weeks ago I needed a small meeting room. The Livonia Marriott rented me the space but I spent several hundred dollars on it. This time I booked a room at the Residence Inn. My thought process was to use the residence area to conduct the meeting however, that still didn't feel comfortable to me, so I asked for some help. Jeanette at the Front Desk offered me use of their meeting room. It's private, just off the front desk, and it was no cost. The best part of experience, though, was Jeanette. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that she is the best. She's helpful, thoughtful and happy. That attitude goes a long way. Fantastic stay. Thank you!
I’ve been hosting a hockey event for 13 years and we’ve been staying at the Residence Inn Detroit Livonia for the past 8 years. They’ve always been accommodating of our needs and this year was no exception! Sarah, Steve and the staff are awesome! It’s always great going back year after year and seeing the same familiar staff! Thank you! We’ll see you next year!
Convenient location. Although rooms were clean, daily housekeeping left much to be desired. Out our 4 days here we had to call office for services every day. Neglect was failure to empty trash, leave toliet and facial tissue, need for linens. Their pillows were king size and hard as bricks. Altho a member of marriott program, no choice of pillows. We have stayed here for several days at least once a year and this is standard behavior. Hopefully the management will take a refresher course on management.
Average pricing for the area, there is also a town place suites (cheaper, lower end and a Fairfield Inn (sometimes more expensive) on the same property. Pluses - Staff was friendly. The breakfast included rice / rice cooker and above average assortment of hotel breakfast selections. The room had very good lighting over the vanity, several places for plugging in, lots of room in the living areas. My room had a tub, which some like. My room was on 3rd floor and quiet. Minuses - very small shower/toilet room. Poor general lighting in room, for whatever reason - poor reception on tv. VERY poor free WiFI. I did to look into the pay version of the WiFI, I just could not get receiption. Somewhat lack of both hot water and water pressure. I would come again and take my chances on a better room. This property is very close to several restaurants and a small mall.
Front desk clerk was wonderful and helpful. Unfortunately the room was not clean. The cooktop was greasy. There was a pile of spilled pet food in the closet. The tv remotes were grungy. Breakfast was adequate other than the coffee being full of grounds. The location is great and the bed was comfy.
I host a hockey event in Metro Detroit; this year has been the 12th annual. For the past 7 years we have been using the Residence Inn Detroit Livonia as our host hotel. They have been so accommodating every year - from Sarah and Steve to all of the hotel employees that always go out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. I would never consider another hotel in the area! We'll see you next year!
I was long term guest about five years ago, and seeing as I was back in the area, I was interested to see how the place was doing. The biggest change was a recent renovation of the rooms. They now look very clean and modern. The reception/breakfast area has also been updated. Certain things remain from my last visit - The location is safe, quiet, with close proximity to some stores and restaurants and easy access to I-275 - about 20 minutes drive from the airport and downtown Detroit. Most importantly I was pleased to see the high levels of customer service have been maintained, as I needed some assitance with an issue with my booking and the front desk employee was very helpful.
