Incorrect room view at check in, let that go as we were just staying the one night. Incorrect charge charged on card number they were to use only for incidentals AFTER leaving, front desk very rude when calling to let know. Saturday checkout - today is Thursday & still waiting on a callback from the person they said would call Monday to fix.
Amazing stay. Rooms were clean and updated. The city corner view suite was well worth the price.
We were told that since we. Booked with a third party that our request for a king size bed could not be granted. We come into Detriot often and wanted to try a new hotel. You didn’t get our vote.
Great downtown location! Perfect for game or concert night out
We had a lovely stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our suit was spacious and clean.
Saw a show at Fox theater. This is blocks away. Similarly close to all major sports venues. They're all concentrated in one area, and this is right there! It's also adjacent to the monorail (people mover) and the up and back tram system. Don't pay for a breakfast included room. It's literally the only negative I have to say. I'm more mad at Orbitz than the hotel. Just go out to eat instead and save your money. This hotel doesnt really have a kitchen or food service, but you're near all the other spots so it doesn't effect things.
Nice hotel close to ballpark. Very courteous and conscientious staff.
Decided to go outside to smoke since this is a non-smoking hotel. Stopped on the 2nd floor thinking we could get to the People Mover deck so we weren't just out on the streets in Detroit late at night. Found no outside access, but decided to stop and use what we thought was a PUBLIC restroom, as it was in a public area of the hotel with no signs indicating otherwise. While in the bathroom, a male security guard just barges in and tells us we can't be in there and it's for "banquet use only". Mind you, he did not Knock, he did not announce himself, he didn't check to see if anyone was decent before barging in. The hotel desk staff could care less about what I said when I reported this and backed him up in his argument that it was for banquet use only and that he was doing "his job because bums could be in there". Bums?!?! I paid good money to stay in this establishment and I'm kicked out out a restroom in an unacceptable fashion and compared to bums? We took the matter up the following morning with the manager on staff. When I argued that I paid good money to stay with them, I was told "you booked on Orbitz, you got a pretty good rate actually". The girl next to him made threats and winked condescendingly. They also said it's not up to them to provide a refund or to offer any sort of reparations to make this right, that it's the responsibility of orbitz. I will now be a social media thorn in their side. Don't let women and children use restrooms unattended here.
Clean comfortable room. Great location. Friendly staff.
Stayed over night to attend JayZ concert. The room was nice but the bedroom/tv area only had one desk chair for sitting. There was a bench by the bathroom area. So, if you wanted to watch tv, you basically had to sit on the bed. Staff was nice and accommodating. The next morning, I was addressed by my name which was surprisingl considering it was a busy place.. Would definitely stay again.
Our room had a gorgeous view of downtown Detroit and the hotel is centrally located to all local venues. We walked to Little Caesar’s Arena for a Pistons game and had dinner and drinks close by at the Detroit Beer Company on Broadway. We did not get maid service, which was odd since we were out all day, but that wasn’t bad enough for me to downgrade my rating too much. Lovely hotel and friendly and accommodating hotel staff.
Third time and the hotel and really like the venue. Great building, rooms and location
We loved our stay at the aLoft in The David Whitney building. It is centrally located and easy walking distance to lots of great restaurants and bars. We also loved the room layout. The bathroom is very private and removed from the living space. I would definitely stay here again.
Loved the gorgeous skylit lobby of this historic building. The staff was also really great and accommodating to our one year old. The hotel was close to the stadiums and Woodward Ave nightlife, offered top notch service, and overall was a great value.
just okay. I liked the room, that's all. The fact that there is no restaurant, was a turn off for me. I was there for a night but will choose a different hotel next time am in Detroit.
Couldn't resolve the billing problem via email (the don't let you), had to get on the phone, while at work, multiple times.
As a person in Detroit on business this hotel could not have been more convenient. The building is great and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only thing missing was an included Breakfast. Many of the local restaurants do not open early.
