This is a good hotel ,and the close to the city centre. The hotel is just a five minute walk from the train station so no need for taxis to get anywhere. The rooms are comfortable and the ones overlooking the courtyard are nice and quiet. The bar and restaurant is run independently so you can't charge to your room, they have a great selection of drinks and the evening food was excellent but there are so many great restaurants along the river I would recommend going out. They had a gym but don't bother, just two machines that are not really worth using. There is a great gym just up the road if you want to workout. So to sum up a good value hotel close to the Cathedral and everything this city has on offer. Would definitely stay again.
The hotel and so clean and tidy! The rooms were big, clean and well equipt. There are no toiletries such as shampoo or soap so you will need to bring that with you if staying here. Beds are okay comfort wise. The hotel is well located to the centre and a close walk from the station. Hotel staff are also very friendly. It does small like stale smoke in the hallways! Not so much in the rooms but you can still smell it a tiny bit. There is also a restaurant inside the hotel which serves breakfast and dinner. Not sure about lunch though.
The hotel is in a good location with attractions in easy reach in all directions. The room was modern, spacious and airy with French doors opening on to a lovely courtyard. However, the bath towels are awful and it's like getting dried with bedsheets! With restrictions on liquids when flying these days it was disappointing that the only toiletries offered was liquid soap, fortunately there is a supermarket nearby. Disappointing to return to the room late afternoon each day and it hadn't been done. The reception staff were pleasant but not overly welcoming! But overall a pleasant stay.
Reasonably well placed hotel about 15 minutes walk from Cathedral. Room was large but peculiarly had one easy chair only which was very heavy and hard to move. Sleep was only average as our room was near uncarpeted staircase and we were woken by sound of other guests on stairs. Reception service was efficient but unsmiling apart from one male staff member who provided kettle as there was none in room.
The feeling is a mix of new and old, very nice atmosphere! The wlan had problems on the upper floor the day I checked out, most likely temporarily but... Calm area with walking distance to the railway station. The only concern was that they noted your credit card number on a settle at check in, I really hope the document with my credit card number was destroyed when I checked out (I forgot to ask).
Me and my boyfriend decided to stay in Cologne for the Christmas market before going to Düsseldorf. So we found this hotel the last minute. Receptionist was so cold and never smiles at you. She just seem to want the transaction get done asap. Parking fee was just so expensive when it's supposed to be free for their clients. Breakfast was lovely though. The hotel looks nice, we were there winter but I think it would also look nice during summer. And we didn't really pay too much for a junior suite. So for me it was okay. Nothing extraordinary.
It's not the mainstream hotel chains style. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very individual style of rooms. You smell the history of the building. Very nice staff and our first to go hotel in Cologne. We married in Cologne and asked our guests to stay in one of the three hopper hotels in Cologne. They all loved it. Thanks
This hotel is located less than 10 minutes walk from the train station and to the historic city. It provides very good service. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and quiet. It has a bar and a restaurant which serves good food. The price for the rooms is reasonable. Members of staff are very helpful and polite. I surely recommend this mid range hotel for a comfortable stay and good service.
This could be a really nice hotel but its quirkiness lets it down. The hotel is in an old building and they have tried to make a nice boutique hotel but some things were just plan annoying, the bathroom was designed so no normal person could comfortably sit on the toilet as you are wedged between the sink and shower cubical. The beds pretty uncomfortable and the large windows mean that you could easily see into other rooms. Breakfast was OK staff were pretty distracted.
We were very comfortable in the Hopper. Nice size rooms in quiet location very close to the Dom Cathedral. A lovely beer garden to sit and relax and enjoy good food and cocktails from the restaurant. Food a little pricey, but well cooked. A competitive rate and we will certainly book there again.
