I made this booking via hotels.com, the first time I used the site and I am pleased with. But this review is about the hotel. We spent a night during our drive through Germany during the Easter break. As a family of three, it is usually hard to find a hotel with a generous space and a real third bed. We got all of that and more at the Cologne Marriott hotel. Positive points: Friendly and efficient check-in/check-out staff Spacious room with comfortable bed. Like, really spacious Spacious bathroom with good toiletries Breakfast was the main reason I booked this hotel and we were not disappointed Location is a huge bonus. Close proximity to the river and the Dom, which is a spectacular sight Negative point: None actually Highly recommended for business travelers and families alike.
Just check in, had a quick drink in the bar which was quite nice with good service... Up to the room to freshen up and the room was very hot... called the front desk and I have been told that the air conditioning is on hot air only... Was offered a fan... which has still not arrived in the room, been waiting for over 45 minutes now. No where near a 5 star hotel... 260 per night and no air conditioning... Absolute joke... will not be coming back.
This hotel is in a great location, less than a five minutes walk north of the main train station. The hotel is beautiful with great service and great rooms. My room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the shower. Breakfast is also excellent with a huge number of options. Ate dinner at the bar as well, and the food was above average for a hotel.
My family and I really enjoyed this hotel. It's a couple blocks from the train station (on the side away from the Dom and the hordes of tourists, so was pleasantly quiet). The lobby, rooms and lounge were modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My favorite was their bar. Toby the bar manager was very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm a whiskey fan, and this is the only hotel bar I've seen with an extensive collection of rare whiskeys. Pappy Van Winkle at a hotel bar, impressive.
The hotel may seem alright when you enter and look at the lobby but the rest of the hotel doesn't seem like a 5-star hotel. There are many hotels in Cologne that are way better. Also, the staff at the restaurants seems super stressed and in need of a vacation.
A very convenient location a couple of blocks away from the Main train station and city center. Walking distance from the city main attractions and MTR systems serving the city. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Cleanliness is outstanding as well as maintenance of the facilities. The service is rather average and improvements can be easily achieved at check in and check out, same for the club lounge breakfast service. A little bit more of staff commitment to customers satisfaction would make it a prefect place.
We stayed at the Marriott Cologne for two nights in early April after arriving from Amsterdam on the ICE. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the train station which is very convenient. The Grand Deluxe room was quite spacious for the three of us. Room is excellent with a King bed. The extra bed that we requested was already there when we arrived. Breakfast spread was excellent with American, English and Continental choices. The location of the hotel is really convenient, near to the train station and 8mins walk from Cologne City Centre. Certainly would recommend this hotel for other travellers.
Wow, what a great place to stay! It would be nice to think that all Marriott Hotels throughout the world offer the same levels of service and quality, but sadly they don't! This one however, is absolutely fantastic and runs the Renaissance Hong Kong very close in terms of the quality of the facilities and staff. From the moment that my wife and I checked in we were made to feel like royalty. The room was superb, spacious, clean and comfortable. The Executive Lounge was one of the best I have experienced and far better than any Marriott in the UK, with excellent food and friendly, helpful staff. We had Sunday Lunch in the restaurant and again it was excellent, superb food, great ambience and wonderfully helpful staff. All in all a most enjoyable stay and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, I will be back as soon as I can for sure.
Stayed there during a fair in Cologne. Prices were about doubled during the fair. For this price a bottle of water and some fruits or apples should be inclusive. And not additional 3.50 Euros a bottle. The TV screen is too small (ca. 70cm) for this big rooms. The room was about 5 meters long and if you're lying on the bed, the tv is on the opposite site.
The Cologne Marriott hotel is a decent hotel located just a few steps away from the central station which is an added plus and also few step from Rhine river which is great from an early morning or late afternoon walk. The room is great, comfortable and cozy. However I was not happy at the check in counter as the lady who made my check in was not that nice! first she made a mistake charging my visa card (instead of blocking 50 EURO, she blocked first 30, and then 50), and I asked her to give me a room on the highest possible floor and she gave me a room in the 4th floor while the 6th floor was available (a friend of mine checked in later in the 6th). I don't really know why they are blocking 50 Euro from your visa card when the in room fridge has nothing at all????!!! The concierge is another concern as he talks to you without paying any attention. So In a nutshell, greet hotel, people are questionable.
