Stayed for 2 nights Feb 18. 2 adults 2 kids. Checked in early no problem. Front facing room. Spacious and very well appointed. Sofa bed for kids. Larhe shower room. Large double bed. Lots of space for luggage. Massive TV. Breakfast exceptional for a mid range chain hotel. Lots of choice and all fresh and well prepared, presented and cooked. Nice bar area that was cheap. Relaxed seating areas for kids. Taxis always arrived in 1-2 minutes. Convenient location.

We visited Cologne for a family break. When we arrived at the hotel , we were met by the friendly receptionists who gave is the contactless key cards that work really well. They also gave us good advice about getting to the city and allowed us to check in a little early as we arrived at 2PM and check in is at 3PM. The room was modern comfortable and well equipped. There are lots of plugs and invaluable usb charging points and a huge TV. There is lots of cupboard space and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower. The room was kept clean and tidy and it was nice and quiet. Well recommend , we had a great time.

I have stayed here a couple of times and had a very pleasant stay each time. The location is slightly off the beaten track but next to the river which for me is a big plus. I run up and down the river which is thoroughly pleasant and varied scenery of modern and old architecture. The hotel is modern, clean and maintained well. The room is basic but tidy and modern. At this pricing point this is perfect. The service level is good and efficient. The breakfast is fairly limited in offering but good quality. Overall does exactly what it says on the tin: clean, convenient and well priced.

The Hotel is very well situated in business district on Rhine river. It is about 2 km from the Cathedral and Lanxess Arena. The Chocolate Museum is close to the hotel. The rooms are very modern and clean. The breakfast was generous.

Stayed here for 3 nights during a weekend trip to cologne. We got a pretty good deal so we can’t explain too much. The hotel is in an ok location. Around 20 minutes walk to the centre but also at least a 7 minute walk to any public transport. It’s fine if you don’t mind a little walk, may not be great with kids. The rooms are clean and modern, however we found the bed to be incredibly uncomfortable and did not get a good nights sleep. The room got cleaned every day to a good standard. The staff are okay. Not amazing customer service but not bad either. We didn’t eat breakfast or dinner here but looking at the menu saw it was very over priced. Probably wouldn’t stay here again if there was a better value hotel in the centre.

Stayed here for 5 nights on business as part of a 15+ room block. Yes, you heard correctly, we reserved 15+ rooms at this hotel for a big company event. You would think that would get you some kind of courtesy, let along a few perks. Not at Novotel. FRONT DESK STAFF IS DREADFUL. Unfriendly, accusatory, unhelpful. They have an excuse for everything, will flat out refuse to help you with any questions (wifi, room service, etc). It would take too long to list all of the obnoxious things they did, so I'll just list the worst one: after a dinner out, a co-worker had returned to the hotel and realized she'd left her mobile at the restaurant. She asked the hotel to please call a cab so she could go back. The front desk staff refused, saying after 10pm they don't call cabs. The poor girl had to stand in front of the hotel trying to hail a cab for over 30 minutes. HOTEL WIFI IS A SCAM. They claim you can get free wifi (doesn't work AT ALL). So they tell you to pay to upgrade to better service and charge 8 Euros/day. The upgraded service was barely better, and the codes are constantly changing so we had to call the front desk 3 times to get the right code. BAR SCHEDULE? Not sure there was even a normal schedule for the bar because one Tuesday night it was open late, then on a Friday when we all decided to go back and party it was closed at 10pm. Very strange. The only good thing about this hotel was the bartender staff. Two different guys and they both were really fun. Recommendation: Find a better place anywhere else in Cologne.

Nice hotel, quite newly renovated. Nice clean rooms, and an appealing bathroom. Was pleasantly welcomed by front desk staff. The whole hotel is refurbished. Excellent offer with parking in the basement with lift access. Missing better deals on English speaking tv channels.

nice modern hotel in a good location. very clean room and comfortable bed. good breakfast. modern design. and we like the kid's play area. the location was good as well. we can find supermarket and many restaurant in the nearby streets.

The stay was great and I love the bathroom with the wall foldable shower chair. Clean, comfortable bed and friendly staff who moved the flower pot out of the disability entrance ( but should there really be one?) Also the little hump into the room needs to be looked at to be flattened.

Summary, It’s an ok hotel, but a little too far away from the city for our small family.may be close enough for you though! Place is very clean, outside and inside, has a sauna and a gym. Staff are extremely helpful and most have superb English. Overall, value for money for the 8 nights we stayed, I felt a little ‘meh’... We WILL be visiting Cologne again but will stay somewhere else. For a family of four, a toddler and a 5 year old... Negatives... Public transport is a 10 -15 minute walk away by bus (up the road) or tram (down the road) which kinda kills the mood when it’s raining ...resulting in expensive taxis (10-15 euros from the train station) if public transport doesn’t line up. Food....quite expensive really, 20 Euros for breakfast (a lot of choice on offer mind!, kids were very well fed! When we did have breakfast ...kids do eat free...44 euros for a buffet dinner New Year’s Day per person...- we walked in the rain to Vapianos instead.... Our ‘mini bar’ fridge was actually an oven, preventing us from storing perishables to keep the kids happy and fed (to be fair it was fixed the first proper working day after new year, but we only had two nights left then) The bedroom to sleep four is an ok size, but one of the two provided ‘beds’ is a fold flat couch which is more like a king single in size...not very comfortable if you have wriggly children!! Didn’t always top Up our teabags or coffee, or tidy the room / bins (though we did stay over new year so staff may have been short)....surely they should know by now us Brits like our tea (and milk) plentiful!! Positives There’s a great kiddies area downstairs with toys and games, good to relax in the bar area or lounging area near the entrance whilst kids have fun. It’s ten minutes walk from the mustard museum and the chocolate museum / factory. Even closer to the Olympic and sports museum! 15 minutes and you’re at Aldi (to stock up on food) and a good shopping strip that’ll take to the city Beer and wine were reasonably priced Free fruit at reception most days Close to the river for a great walk to the city Neither pro or con HUGE smart TV in the room, but not connected and only news channels in English ....bring your own media center or connect your tablet / phone! Spacious wardrobes and bathroom Our lesson learned, We booked mainly on price and brand (wasn’t the cheapest by far, but was Novotel so should be fine and worth paying the extra for) ....if you’re going on price, for hotels, factor in the travel and food extras 3 Euro bus / tram tickets per person) each way 10-15 Euro taxis, breakfast, lunch, dinner etc... If you Love walking and eating out, this place is good, As a family, it didn’t suit our specific needs well, we should have gotten somewhere IN the city or a very close walk! And ideally had breakfast included at a good rate... Oh and visit Phantasia land if you have kids!!
