I spent my night in a room that is about to get a renovation. Until then the room is overpriced. I got excited when I saw the pictures, but reality looks different. Old bed, shower outdated, damaged carpet. Checking out takes ages. Reception staff seem to be group of trainees. "A single room sir? You never know whether you might actually need a double room" is maybe not the most professional comment.
We arrived late on 17/5 after flying in from London. Check-in was quick and efficient, room was lovely despite exiting the lift on to a building site. The works did not disturb us at all but it was a shock not knowing about them. We were tired and wanted food and this is where the problem began! The menu was okish, but not many meals offered and changed like white rice instead of rice could not be accommodated! So we had to have chips, which had skins on and again were not really suitable for me due to genuine health problems. When the dinner arrived the waiter dropped one of the two meals on the floor and apologised and said ‚I thought that would happen‘ to which I replied if you did why did you not change the position of the plate? They ordered another meal and it was my idea to share the meal which arrived between my husband and me. It took a while for the second meal to arrive. We had no chips left to eat the second meal with so just had the fish. What disturbed me the most though was that the guy managing the bar kept popping out for a cigarette and also had a small beer himself. Although he did ask if we were ok he clearly did not have our interest at heart. Whilst we were in the restaurant he popped out at least 3 times for a cigarette which I find totally unacceptable. Staff should have their own smoking area away from the public and only smoke at designated break times. He chose not to charge us for a coke I had, but it left me feeling annoyed and angry as they could have turned this experience around by maybe offering a free dessert instead of just a coke. Had I not been this tired I would have complained, but I didn’t want to spoil our stay.
I came to town on business, and tho I'd have preferred to stay closer to the Kolnmesse, i was not disappointed by my decision to stay at the Linder Hotel City Center. The hotel had great amenities and a professional and clean atmosphere. I've stayed in other Linder hotels, and this one, by far, has been the best to date! Well Done!
A quiet hotel just located near the historical center of Cologne. Walk distance to all the facilities. About 8minutes walk to the cologne Dom cathedral and train station. The room is pretty nice included a nice breakfast. Good value!
The hotel is more than 1km far from the center. It s in rennovation phase, so discomforts are really big. Room is anyway small, even the bathroom is small. No pencil in the room. Really expensive breakfast. Not saddisfied at all.
I have accepted a rate of 279 euro per night breakfast excluded in a trade show period where prices change and load. That’s fine, my choice. The scheduled room was a first class high floor room. I have originally booked for 3 nights but circumstances obliged me to stay only 2 nights. I advised the structure one week before but they charged me the entire 3 nights amount, that’s fine, it was in the policy. The hotel was in refurbished status, none advised me, dusty everywhere at the floor. The first class room high floor are small, furniture old, bathroom fittings rusty, amenities of a 2 stars hotel. Waiter at bar and restaurant excellent, this is the only reason I give 2 points in my evaluation. Not a solution in Cologne for me.
Mixed feelings on this hotel. Having stayed at a range of 4 stars in Cologne, I think ths is a bit behind. Rooms are dated and need modernaisation, TV channels had all English channels unavailable - mentioned to reception but nothing done, and the floor I was on was being refurbished. On positive side, nice breakfast, great location, and nice and modern ground floor area.
Ok...so mixed reviews on this one. The check in process was very friendly...I know this as we had to change rooms so spent plenty of time in reception! I had booked a twin non smoking room and was initially allocated a smoking double!! No iron etc as described in ‘facilities’ but sorted in the end. Rooms are somewhat basic and in my opinion very tired and in need of a refurb...which neatly brings me on to the next slot... Many of the floors are undergoing some construction work, which is clearly required but an email mentioning this and an opportunity to book somewhere else would have been appreciated...dust, noise and overpowering chemical smells..not conducive to a relaxed stay. The hotel itself downstairs is very clean, crisp and contemporary and it’s location provides access to local amenities, cafes, bars etc Decided not to eat in the hotel as the prices are slightly inflated. Would I stay here again...unfortunately not.
not bad fro the price offered and that the breakfast was included the bar and the main hall remain extremly loud because of the poor behaviour of the bar customers ! the room we had had a total small of cigarettes !
The only good thing was the location! Room was very simple and the bathroom was old and not well maintained. Two separate beds, we asked a room with one bed, but " the hotel was fully booked"... then we pushed the beds against each other. We have to pay 25 euros for the parking per 24 hours!
