The only good thing was the location! Room was very simple and the bathroom was old and not well maintained. Two separate beds, we asked a room with one bed, but " the hotel was fully booked"... then we pushed the beds against each other. We have to pay 25 euros for the parking per 24 hours!
If you want no mini bar, cracked tiles, a room unfurbished in 15 years and no room service after 9:30pm then this could be the hotel for you. Take a couple of stars from the outside & then it’s just overpriced. Not impressed.
Stayed here late Feb 2018, its a decent hotel with a decent lobby bar. Parking is underground and quite expensive. But the hotel is reasonably priced. Breakfast is decent for a continental. The room was fine, bathroom fine, good overhead shower. Overall a decent hotel. The location is ok too, but Köln is quite a spread out city so getting some places means using the underground or a taxi. I would not entertain getting the car out as parking in Köln is a bit hit and miss. If you are visiting here for the first time, take in the DOM, it’s a stunning piece of architecture. It’s also got some interesting history, during the Second World War Köln was decimated, and virtually levelled, but the DOM was left virtually, untouched as the pilots used it as a navigational tool. You’ll see why when you see it. If I was going to complain about anything, it would be the time it took to check out, it could be more efficient.
We spent our second stay in this hotel and everything was good : the rooms are big enough and always clean, the staff is welcoming and very flexible when you don't like the room. The spa is nice and clean as well. The breakfast is fabulous !!! The only advice I can give to the hotel is to delegate someone at the entrance of the restaurant during the breakfast time to dispatch the tables between the people. The restaurant was crowded all the time and people were making a queue to wait for a table. It created a lot of stress and nervousness because it was up to the client to be attentive and find a table. Some people started arguing which is not the purpose of a breakfast.
We were given a room with twin beds although we had booked a double, but the receptionist made the change at once and with a cheerful manner. The new room was slightly smaller but still very pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast was superb. In fact on New Year's day we were allowed two breakfasts: one at the normal time and then one at lunchtime for late risers! The spa was something else entirely. Robes provided, a large, airy sauna space, showers, a relaxation cool-down room, foot-spas and all very indulgent with magazines to read and plenty of towels provided. The hotel is very well located for a walking tour of Cologne - a magnificent city.
Spent a night for City trip in Cologne. The room was good but poor ( the room was dated and not clean, curtains carpet etc). Breakfast was excellent, also the staff was very good, kind and helpfully. Location was good, not far away of the Center and the Dom.
Good points: the breakfast was amazing and so was the location --great. However my room stank of cigarette smoke. I wasn't asked if I smoked or not. Being from the UK I didnt even give it a second thought that there are smoking rooms. It was ingrained in everything even the bed and pillows. I was still awake at 3.30am it was so so so so bad. So check beforehand. As I checked in and had to quickly leave to go back out I knew it was smoky but I didnt realise how much -- then by time I got back and tried (and failed) to sleep it was too late. Such a shame as I can't fault anything else and I felt like death warmed up all the next day. I had to rate it low as theres no point in a hotel where you can't sleep!
Hotel is not far away from the Center - the district around is full of restaurant and places to go out - Breakfast is very good and full of food for everyone Bathroom is quite small and not very well treated (roasted bathtub).
Spent a night for Karneval in Cologne. Hotel is centrally located and in walking distance of the main station (15min walk). Room was spacious and clean. Bed comfortable. Bathroom clearly dated with some refurbishment back log. Bathroom was clean however. Service friendly. All in all good stay here. €6 surcharge for Karneval ridiculous though.
The Lindner is a nice hotel, I liked the location, short walk from the Dom. They have a great breakfast, and the food all over is very good there. The spa is really good and yes I will definitely stay there again :) The lounge is really good there.
