I just had a one night stop over in cologne on my way to munich and atayed at the Lindner hotel city plaza. The hotel is just great and amazing service. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The gym is open 24hrs and is just perfect. I definately have to mention that the bed is one of the best ive ever slept in....simply amazing! Definately stay here if i ever visit cologne again...
Check in was conducted in the lobby of the hotel, with a wait time of about five minutes. Upon entering my 'Business Class' room, I discovered that there was one king bed, although I had specified two twin beds in the reservation. The receptionist did not bring up the bed configuration possibilities when checking-in. I returned to the reception and asked to be relocated to a room with two twin beds, and used this opportunity to request a room facing the back (away from the street). When entering the new room, I was glad that it faced the courtyard and pleased to find two twin beds. I was, however, displeased that it was, apparently, a smoking room. But, I decided to tolerate this as the other requests were fulfilled and the room was not too smoke-infested. The furnishings and bathroom fixtures were dated, but the room was quite cosy and comfortable. The shower and sink water pressure was excellent. The complimentary wifi was excellent and I achieved download speeds of up to 45 Mbit/s. The minibar fridge is left empty so that one is free to stock it as they please. There was a vending machine on the floor corridor near the lift. The air conditioning was minimal, but the outdoor temperatures at the time were not hot, so it is not possible to say whether the air conditioning can support cool temperatures on hot days. The bedding was borderline; the polyester blankets promoted significant sweating in the night. Sleep quality was not good. The mattress was quite soft. The hotel is conveniently located at Friesenplatz, a one-minute walk from the Friesenplatz U Bahn station. It is about a 15-minute walk from the Dom, a 5-minute walk to Rudolfplatz and a 10-minute walk to Neumarkt or Heumarkt. In summation, the Lindner Hotel City Plaza is an average hotel, with dated furnishings and design, but with excellent bathroom water pressure, and is quite conveniently located at Friesenplatz. I paid approximately €90 per night during my stay, which is a satisfactory price for a hotel of this standard. I will think carefully whether I return to this hotel in the future.
Very friendly and helpful personality, clean hotel, spacious room with fast enough wi-fi, good breakfast. Parking in the hotel, moderate price. Good location rather close to Cologne Dom. Good price-quality relation.
Good location, service oriented personal and a good equipped gym. Too bad that traces of usage and a not proper working TV and a/c are still things I had to deal with and that not the first time. The close located bars, restaurants and shopping capabilities is one of the favourite points of this hotel.
Prepaid for a five night stay to see Cologne/Bonn. Aircon was not working first night and staff unable to rectify. Forced to accept until following morning when we shifted rooms having been unable to sleep that night in the heat. Checked my bank account details to find that hotel debiting my credit card on a daily basis for the accom which they acknowledged had been fully paid. Took 8 stressful days to get it fully removed from my account including calls to my Australian Bank. Hotel was quiet in a good location but that does not compensate for such terrible service.
We had a very clean and tastefully decorated room, and really enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast too. Although there were only a few vegan options, there were a fair number of vegetarian options available. Friendly bar staff too!
Location is more than fantastic next to Frieseplatz metro station and near to everything like the pubs, restaurants, the sheik Mittelstrasse with the amazing boutiques ! Plus the amenities like the Gym and the SPA !
Visited on business. The rooms are slightly less room that the Pullman nearby, but the price is a little lower. Location is great for shops and attractions, and the staff are friendly and efficient. The Lindner has a fitness suite, which I am told is very good, and the bar looked nice. As with most hotels breakfasts are a little overpriced so the bakeries and coffee shops at the nearby Friesenplatz offer a nice alternative.
The hotel is definetly something that is comming from the '80s, maybe the '90s. The reception / lounge area, the bar and the restaurant is nice and renewed. Sadly the same cannot be told from the rooms. Old rooms, old furniture. Wardrobe door was stucked, Bathroom is "old", the tile and the grouting is repaired with some soft gray "plasticine" at some places... The "minibar" is on the corridor, in the room's fridge I had 1 bottle of OPENED water, nothing more. The staff was nice overall, rooms were clean and tidy. Hotel is fair for 1-2 nights for business, but nothing more. There are better ones in Köln inner city - sad to say.
Check in was quick and efficient. Room was clean, but it was incredibly dated. Bath/Shower combination with a shower curtain. Not sure if all of the rooms are like this, but both times I've stayed here I've had poor quality rooms. The other complaint is I had a room at the front which didn't have good sound proofing, I could hear cars all night. The Pullman 100m up the road is a lot better in terms of standard for similar cost.
