Trade shows are hard work ... and the smartest thing you can do is: (1) Book a great hotel, (2) Eat sensibly, and (3) Get lots of high-quality sleep. The Dorint here is right at the door of the Cologne Convention Facility. Impeccably run, this hotel has incredibly clean rooms in German style (duvets). Room temperature controls surprisingly accurate, windows open for fresh air. Desk with three (3) accessible plugs and an opaque glass desk ... modern and useful. The Trade Show business has made this hotel idiotically expensive, but every day I started my trade show refreshed and able to work hard thanks to the Dorint.
Very disappointed by the services provided. The fridge in the room was empty and when I asked why they told me this is the hotel policy; stupid policy for a 4 star hotel! They do it because they are afraid people will steal their beers and water bottles! Because this is what people do: you book a 4 star hotel, pay the expensive rate per night and steal the peanuts from the fridge! Maybe they think it makes sense when you see a bottle of still water is 8,90 euros! Moreover if you insist to get some berrs in the fridge, you fill in a form, sign it and you may get the beers the next day. If they don’t forget, like they did when I was there; then you call the reception and they charge you extra 4 euros because this what they call room service :) Really disgusting! Breakfast is great and the small Spa in the hotel is cosy but really small (we were just a few couples inthere so it was OK). Overall I think they should offer way more quality since everything is overpriced there.
I was staying during DMEXCO trade show for one night in the hotel. It was so close to the event and I had to book on short notice which lead to a very high price. Sometimes luxurious hotels cost a lot, but I cannot say that it was real luxury. The rooms were just normal and the bathroom was small with a shower in the bath tube. Breakfast and garage were not included.
I booked a room for my son from August 22nd to 27th. Two hours before flying to Cologne my son had an accident and had to undergo emergency surgery. I immediately emailed the hotel and let them know of the situation. Their response was to immediately charge my credit card for the full amount of the stay. Yes it might be their policy. How about compassion ? Even as a commercial gesture a partial refund would have reflected better on the hotel. So if you book at the Dorint hotel beware... and don't dream of getting sick. You'll be charged for every penny.
Stayed at the Dorint for a conference Nice and modern rooms with spotless clean bathrooms Very good and tasty food, great breakfast buffet Conference facilities were very good and spacious Close to the Rhine Rooms to the front face a busy street but the windows do a good job to keep the noise out Keep an eye on your valuables, my purse got stolen from the breakfast room although the key card of the guests was validated at the entrance of the breakfast room Hotel staff was very helpful in calling the police
I enjoyed a few days in Cologne for work, and had the opportunity to stay at this Hotel. - Rooms are spacious and well appointed - Internet has ok speed (0,5 down, 0,2 up) - Breakfast and roomservice are to recommend Talking about the breakfast: When having a quick breakout in the afternoon, we had a quick chat in the breakfast room. Suddenly, a small, lovely, brown-grey mouse looked at us and crossed the room. I told the waiter and I'm sure they will get a cat now as well ;-)
Nothing much to tell. Just a standard hotel, standard rooms. Close to the Lanxess Arena and the Messe. Watch out with the bills of the bar after a few drinks and check your change. You know what I mean.
We were 110 passengers on three coaches when we used this hotel for one night on our way to Austria. On arrival there were three bundles of key cards, each sorted into alphabetical order, waiting for us, and an extensive hot and cold buffet supper was ready in the dining room. After a long day on the road our people were able to get into their rooms and then to the dining room within 10 minutes or so of arrival. EXCELLENT SERVICE, which continued through the meal and the following morning's breakfast. The coaches were accommodated on site. Although in town it was very quiet overnight. An excellent experience all round. I would happily use this hotel again.
I liked this hotel. We went to an event at the stadium and it was very close amd easily walkable. Also walkable is the cathedral and the town centre which means it is good for sightseeing. The breakfast was good with some great meatball things and crispy bacon. I didn't use the pool though because it was closed, which was a shame. Would definitely visit again.
I have enjoyed the hospitality in the Dorint very often. But lately the response and customer focus the staff is getting bad. This afternoon I wanted to use a late lunch in restaurant Düx. It took 5 minutes before someone gave me a menu. I ordered a drink and waited another 8 minutes. There was one more table occupied and three ladies busy cleaning up behind the bar. None of them were doing anything to arrange my drink. Even worse, the waitress that took my order started unpacking a dishwasher. I decided not to wait any longer and left the restaurant. Not good, customer should come first!!
