Stayed at the Dorint for a conference Nice and modern rooms with spotless clean bathrooms Very good and tasty food, great breakfast buffet Conference facilities were very good and spacious Close to the Rhine Rooms to the front face a busy street but the windows do a good job to keep the noise out Keep an eye on your valuables, my purse got stolen from the breakfast room although the key card of the guests was validated at the entrance of the breakfast room Hotel staff was very helpful in calling the police
I enjoyed a few days in Cologne for work, and had the opportunity to stay at this Hotel. - Rooms are spacious and well appointed - Internet has ok speed (0,5 down, 0,2 up) - Breakfast and roomservice are to recommend Talking about the breakfast: When having a quick breakout in the afternoon, we had a quick chat in the breakfast room. Suddenly, a small, lovely, brown-grey mouse looked at us and crossed the room. I told the waiter and I'm sure they will get a cat now as well ;-)
Nothing much to tell. Just a standard hotel, standard rooms. Close to the Lanxess Arena and the Messe. Watch out with the bills of the bar after a few drinks and check your change. You know what I mean.
We were 110 passengers on three coaches when we used this hotel for one night on our way to Austria. On arrival there were three bundles of key cards, each sorted into alphabetical order, waiting for us, and an extensive hot and cold buffet supper was ready in the dining room. After a long day on the road our people were able to get into their rooms and then to the dining room within 10 minutes or so of arrival. EXCELLENT SERVICE, which continued through the meal and the following morning's breakfast. The coaches were accommodated on site. Although in town it was very quiet overnight. An excellent experience all round. I would happily use this hotel again.
I liked this hotel. We went to an event at the stadium and it was very close amd easily walkable. Also walkable is the cathedral and the town centre which means it is good for sightseeing. The breakfast was good with some great meatball things and crispy bacon. I didn't use the pool though because it was closed, which was a shame. Would definitely visit again.
I have enjoyed the hospitality in the Dorint very often. But lately the response and customer focus the staff is getting bad. This afternoon I wanted to use a late lunch in restaurant Düx. It took 5 minutes before someone gave me a menu. I ordered a drink and waited another 8 minutes. There was one more table occupied and three ladies busy cleaning up behind the bar. None of them were doing anything to arrange my drink. Even worse, the waitress that took my order started unpacking a dishwasher. I decided not to wait any longer and left the restaurant. Not good, customer should come first!!
I've stayed here a few times now, brilliant hotel my favourite place to stay in Germany, walking distance to cologne cathedral & river Rhine. Fantastic breakfast buffet, and spa facilities are also very nice. Great selection of salads at Dux restaurant, hotel staff are also very polite & friendly. Will be visiting again soon.
This hotel is located on the eastern side of the river Rhein and very close to the Cologne fair. You can travel there by car (parking places are available) or you can come by train - then take Cologne Deutz station and walk about 5 minutes to the hotel. The hotel itself is located next to Cologne fair and a bigger street but if you stay to the back side of the hotel you won't hear anything from the street. The entrance/lobby area is big enough to accommodate groups or some more individual guests during arrival. There are up to 4 or 5 reception desks and the staff works quickly and friendly and is as well very helpful. Behind the lobby area you will find the bar and two restaurants - one that offers typical German food and the other one offering high class food. One of those is also for breakfast and has enough space to feel comfortable during breakfast. The rooms are located in the upper floors and my room was faced to the back side of the hotel - so quite and big enough for one person as well as for a couple. The room itself is equipped with a TV two beds, a TV screen, a small fridge and a bathroom with basin, toilet and shower. Only thing to "complain" about was the carpet in the room - but this is a personal complain because I don't like carpets in hotel rooms! Breakfast is served in buffet style and offers everything you like for a healthy and enjoyable start in the morning - cereals, variety of eggs, rolls, ham, cheese, butter, croissants, marmelade, fruits etc. In conclusion this hotel is a great venue for smaller meetings and conferences as well as for exhibitors on the Cologne fair. So I can recommend this hotel for business stays. For private stays you always have to cross the river Rhein to be in the heart of Cologne and this might be a little bit to far for a private stay.
I have a hard time believing some of these negative reviews. I stayed for 12 nights and every day was another pleasant surprise for me. The entire staff was wonderful to deal with and all spoke excellent English to make up for my lack of German. Alex in the Dux restaurant/bar was great every time I visited the bar. Try the Sparglesoup if it's in season. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten The room was very clean, I had everything I needed each night. The breakfast buffet was beyond anything I've ever experienced at a hotel. There was something for everyone and it was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be staying again.
During World hockey championship 2017 we stayed at this hotel for one night. We had bed and breakfast. The room was clean and well prepared even before official check in. Hotel has modern minimalistic design and his location is quite good, close to transport hub Koln Messe/Deutz. It is only few minutes walk to get there. Hotel restaurant offers fresh international menu. We decided to choose Wiener schnitzel, which was good decision. Walter, very talkative waiter, was really right person on a right place. He was polite and quick. Restaurant has nice interior, we were satisfied and felt well. Breakfast restaurant is another place in the hotel. Breakfast consists of warm and cold buffet with great selection of prepared dishes. Over all we were satisfied, I slept well so I can fully recommend.
