Nothing really wrong with the Allegro. Staff were very good and friendly, the room was a bit small but OK for one night. Our only"complaint", was the shower cubicle was small with the mixer sticking out a long way, which meant you kept knocking the tap, which went from scalding to freezing . This was the 5th 4* hotel we'd stayed in on our trip, and it felt more like a 3*. Good points were a view of the river and the location in the centre of the city. Despite our average rating we'd stay again.
Stayed for only two nights. The room was clean and not that small. Staff were friendly and car parking was OK. The location is very good since it's 15 minutes walk to the Dom and 5 minutes to chocolate museum and Rhine river is across the road.
This is a lovely, kind of boutique/old style hotel. The three reception staff we met over our stay were very friendly and helpful. Our room was at the back of the hotel so we didn't have a very exciting view, but it was quiet enough to keep our windows open during the night. The room was quite small but not too small. Massive comfy bed, lots of storage space, an easy to use safe and a mini fridge (that wasn't very cold......). Enough plugs, but you do have to look for them...some are disguised as light switches! There's no air con in the room but there was a fan. Big, flat screen TV and good shower with decent water pressure. Proper big bath sheets provided too. The bathroom didn't have any space for storing toiletries though. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Wi-fi was free but we had to ask for the password as it's not provided in the info pack in the room. There are closer hotels to the station but this wasn't far to walk and is quite close to the things like the cathedral, shopping area, a tram stop etc. Much better value for money to stay here then pay a lot more to be 5 minutes closer to the station.
The staff at Hotel Allegro is great. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is in a good location close to lots of food drinks and sights. Parking will cost about $12 USD but it is a safe garage. The breakfast is not worth paying for. Go somewhere else for breakfast.
Spent only one night but was very happy to discover this hotel. Not to far away from the train station (you can take public transportation), I walked only 20-25 minutes. Close to the Rhein and Old city, tram station is 5 minutes walk. Rooms are spreaded out in a building but fine. I had a room in an adjacent building, very clean, big, modern, really liked it. Staff is really really nice, price is great for a location like that one. Breakfast can be taken there. I really recommend.
Stayed here for just a night during a business trip. The location is great, close to city center, main station and the Dom. The room was spacious and tidy and furnished in old style. The breakfast was ok, nothing special. Really friendly was the older man at receiption.
Stayed here on business trip. Small hotel with lots of charm. Rooms well finished and spotless. Great location on the River and 10 min walk from main train station. Staff very friendly and attentive and first class buffet breakfast. I would definitely return and have no hesitation of returning with my wife (always a good measure)!
Located on the main road in South Altstadt next to the Rhine, it has almost all the tourist attractions and even more, all within walking distance, excluding the rush and push of tourists and crowd, common for all others hotels around the Dom and Bahnhof. The in-house Parkhaus facility is one of the cheapest inside Cologne and is an added benefit for the weekend drive-ins. The hotel faces the Rhine and our window opened up to the mesmerizing view of the river. You can stand there and enjoy the beauty or come down and walk up to the river front and soak in the beauty even closer! The rooms are nice and comfy with all bare necessities in place, though without a Minibar. The bathroom is a bit cramped for (our) comfort but is common for such touristy locations. You have free Wifi available at the reception and in the rooms; unfortunately, though, inspite of repeated and best efforts from the staff, it didn't work for us in the last 2 days inside the room. The breakfast spread at the Hotel is quite nice and is a good option to start the day with and we enjoyed it every bit. But the best and the most important aspect of the whole thing was the extremely friendly and cooperative staff; we interacted with Caroline and Moritz besides the Manager and it was a real pleasure. Their clear and clean English was of course an added advantage too! Thank you guys !
DO NOT STAY HERE! If I could give a minus score the score would be minus 5! Review title tells most of story. women travelling alone are stuck in terrible noisiest shabbiest tiny cubby holes. no air conditioning. heat turned to max - no rooms heat controls. dining room is a dumpy cafeteria with food that looks and smells bad. hotel staff are not nice. without advanced notice staff decided to close hotel on sunday morning so all guests were forced out with no where to leave luggage. DO NOT STAY HERE
Staff is very friendly specially Ali the Turkish guy. Breakfast is good with varied items. Its beside Rihne river with amazing view and very closed the city center where all brands are 5 minutes walking away from the hotel.
