Unfortunately, my time at this hotel was very short as I was only staying one night. It is a beautiful hotel right next to a major public transportation stop. Getting to and from the train station was very easy to do. The staff is very friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable. If I ever go back to Cologne I would definitely stay here again so that I could enjoy even more of the features this hotel has to offer.
The location is nice because it is close to many good restaurants and Dom. It took 5 minutes to the train station. The taxi driver could be upset because it is a short distance (~8 euro). The hotel free WiFi is super slow (<0.5 Mbps). You cannot do anything if many people are using it at the same time. The restaurants on the second floor are average. The service is slow (maybe it is the same in Germany). In general,I don’t recommend this hotel.
This is a hotel FACTORY and that says it all No personal attention no fun no frills. The rooms are outdated the bathroom is good though. The food very much in line with the size..... :-( Choose another nearby smaller hotel if YOU pay, if it’s corporate well.....
Last time here was close to ten years ago. Nothing has changed, which is not a good thing. The beds here are so firm its like sleeping on a wooden plank. Business travelers want reliable, fast WiFi. The hotel WiFi is only slightly faster than old dial up style. A business traveler likes to have a decent sized workout facility. The Maritim has never made any effort here, and continues to offer a tiny room with only 3 cardio machines. TV here has just a handful of English language channels, and all are news only. Room furnishings are old, faded and look like rummage sale stuff. Pretty certain the carpets are the same I last saw ten years prior. And what's up with the bathroom towel rationing? One bath towel? Seriously? Hotel is in an okay location near the Bahnhof and restaurants, but needs serious work on upgrading basic amenities. Especially those awful beds.
The location is simply perfect, you can reach everything by foot once your car is parked in the hotel's own parking garage. The hotel itself is well kept however could use a little refurbishment here and there. The room is comfortable but a bit old school as well, the shower however is extremely pleasant.
Quick check-in, particularly as we arrived from the airport at 11am and got straight into our room. Spacious, clean room. Modern bathroom. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Great piano bar, though a tad pricey. Only one pillow per person though I’m sure we could have phoned and asked for more.
Another great stay attending ism this hotel situated central for bars/restuarant staff are always helpful and polite rooms on the inside can get very warm outside facing rooms are great if room is to warm just open a window breakfast plentyful and the hotels own cafe makes the best lattas
Stayed here overnight with a tour group travelling by train to/from Austria in both directions of the trip. Hotel is well located for the train station and also to see the cathedral and riverfront. Was very impressed on outward journey - hotel was beautifully decorated for the Xmas period, we had a very nice double room, and both the evening meal (set menu for tour group) and buffet breakfast were excellent. Have marked it down a notch however for the room we were allocated on the return leg of the journey; it was located on either the ground or first floor (not sure which, but at lobby level) directly behind the row of cafes/shops/offices etc. The first off-putting factor was the strong smell of stale cooking pervading the corridor, and also the sight of trolleys being wheeled along and into the back entrances of the various cafes, where the view of kitchens was not very appealing! The bathroom to this room was also quite small, and the room was alongside quite a noisy main road. Evening meal however was again excellent with fast and friendly service, and the buffet breakfast is plentiful and varied to suit all tastes. A good hotel for a short city break in Cologne.
We stayed at this hotel in November 17 it's a lovely central hotel, excellent location. We could see the Dom from our window. Big spacious room with a fantastic shower! We had to ask for a kettle each day which was frustrating but that was the only negative aspect. Would recommend and would stay again.
We visited this hotel in December, had upgraded our room to a Senior Suite as there was three of us and I have to say the room was really fabulous with great views and a really large wrap around balcony as we were in a corner room. The room was large and very comfortable with lots of widows. Beds very comfortable, and bathroom was great with mood lighting and music. We did visit the bar in the evenings and it was lovely to wind down after a busy day. Staff in the bar were very nice with exception to one lady on our last day we came back and thought we would go into the bar to use the bathrooms as for some strange reason there are no facilities for guests regarding bathrooms in the building unless you go to your room, use the ones in the bar and if the bar isn't open which it isn't in the day you have to go upstairs into a food restaurant and queue for one small toilet which in a hotel this size thats not really acceptable. We went to this bar in the day only to be pointed rudely out with go upstairs to the right toilet there.... after looking for a while we located it in the restaurant. Reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Overall a great location, impressive hotel with really nice rooms we will definitely re visit.
