I stayed at the Dorint Hotel in Cologne last week and I really enjoyed the stay. The room is really BIG and cozy and bath room is excellent. Staff at check in were very friendly, nice and smiling all the time. Breakfast was great. The location is really central and if you are here for shopping, this will be an excellent location as all the brand shops are surrounding the hotel. It is also not far away from the Rhine river where you can go an enjoy a walk.
Enjoyed a weekend stay, 3 nights in Feb. Breakfast was incredible, probably the best I've ever experienced, a veritable feast and a great way to start the day; cereals, ham and cheese; fruit; fantastic breads; pastries; bacon, eggs, +++ more, really fantastic. Hotel was modern type and so maybe lacked 'personality' but it functioned well; things like the public toilets were exceptional. We certainly didn't have a great view, just a normal city scene, not sure if other rooms do, but it's not a great part of town for that. Although on the edge of Centrum, we found it fine for getting about. We loved our room, although it wasn't our first! The first one we had, had 2 separate beds and we wanted a double. A call to reception said that could be done although we had to wait 3 hours but as we were going out anyway that wasn't a problem for us. I think we were actually then upgraded as the second room was enormous (corner room, a junior suite I think). Bed was very comfortable too and bathroom well appointed. We only had one problem and it's a tip for others. We were told on arrival that breakfast was until 12 - and that was fantastic for us - on Sat and Sun morning. However come Monday we were under the impression it was the same but it wasn't and we'd missed it. Now it was possibly our fault but my wife feels sure they said it was 12 every day. Whatever, to their credit, when my wife complained/explained they made a selection as best they could. It wasn't as good as the normal breakfast but accepting it may have been our fault PLUS, it's always nice when there is a problem that an organisation tries it's very best to ameliorate the situation I think it was very acceptable and so great credit for that and thank you. All in all, a great stay and although more expensive than we normally pay, we found it was worth it!
Lovely hotel. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast is delicious and there is LOADS to choose from. Really handy that they serve it until midday at the weekend as well. Great location. 7-10 minute walk from the train station and cathedral. Quiet at night and perfectly located for a stroll across the bridge. There is also a fabulous Italian just a few doors down.
Stayed here for two nights whilst attending an exhibition. I had some difficulty finding the hotel ( driving) as several roads in the area had been closed due to a local event. Once found , underground parking is available. Check in was easy although I had to wait a while due to large amounts of check ins. Room was nice , clean and reasonable size. Bar service was very very slow. Breakfast was good. i would stay again
Spent two nights at Dorint. Nicely placed, in walking distance from Dom and all Cologne landmarks, including shopping malls. Beautiful spacious room, with street view, quiet though thanks to special windows Descent bathroom with bath tub and shower. Pleasant surprise the iron board and iron to freshen up your suit taken out of the suitcase. Note that if you ask for laundry service it will take at least 24 hours. Detail to underline the shoe shine sponge: useful especially when the weather is rainy. Not really appreciated all tv channels exclusively in german; could have a couple of english options at least news channels Still wondering why they had two single duvets in a double bed instead of one double, bit anyway! Rich and delicious breakfast is really to highlight: live eggs station, pastry corner, cheese, sausages and charcuterie, freshly squeezed orange juice and a good choice of coffees made it perfect. Well, of you care about your sugar input and diet note that they only serve white sugar, no stevia, aspartame, or brown sugar. Staff is extremely kind and helpful, asked them for an umbrella, it arrived immediately, asked them for nice restaurants, all three options suggested were fantastic. An unpleasant detail to note: they have not replaced the mint box offered and used by the previous customer, and some of the towels did not really smell clean (sic). Overall, a good choice in Cologne, will revisit.
Nice hotel in good location in central Cologne. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast. Nice view of the cathedral from the lift. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or leisure trip to Cologne
This is the hotel I stay at every time I visit Cologne. It has a great central location, and is handy for the Christmas markets and wine festival as well. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally soundproofed - you never even hear anyone in the corridor, even if your room is near the lift. You get a separate shower and bath, and a spacious sink area with plenty of shelving for cosmetics, etc. It's also good that the rooms have windows you can open, because no matter how good the air con is, it's always nice to have fresh air. The breakfast here is always well-stocked, and the buffet style means you can help yourself and it's great. There are a couple of coffee machines offering every type of coffee you could possibly want. Harry's New York Bar is also great to visit for cocktails, and they often have live music on in there which attracts a lot of locals as well as hotel guests. There is a Hard Rock Café in the same building complex as the hotel, as well as many cafés and bars in Heumarkt (about a 3 minute walk away). Top tip: If you arrive into Cologne's main station, take the underground to the hotel (number 5 line, Am Heumarkt). It is only 2 stops and takes less than 5 minutes and it brings you out RIGHT outside the front of the hotel. It costs a lot less than a taxi - more money for beer and cocktails!
I have been to this place when it was managed by another hotel chain and I can say that little or almost nothing changed since then, stiil it is in good conditions , The hotel enjoys a great location with public transports pratically at its door, and several attractions at walking distance. Reception and check in was done in an quick and efficient way and , of all the areas of the hotels , this is their strongest part. Rooms are rightly sized , with confortable beds and good equipment , still they can be a litttle noisy due to traffic and trams. There is no toiletries and the towels are embarassing for such level and price of hotel , I spent four days and got one botte of water, that once empty was never replaced....... Safety box in my room was out of order. Hotel structure os of 5 stars , the accessories services of three stars Very convenient if you are attending fairs as it is just two stops from fairground .
Worst experience I ever made in a hotel. Mice overall, poor and rude service. When we brought the circumstances to the attention of the management they suggested us to leave if we´re not happy. Of course without getting our prepaid money back. Resumes : Dirty, rude and greedy.
Stayed there over the final 4 handball competition and overall the stay was great. The room was not too big but nice. The bar at the hotel gets quite loud and fun during weekends. We have already bookked this hotel for the next final four. Thank you Dorint
