we are 4 persons booked 2 separated queen rooms which has fantastic river view.Style of hotel try to be art museum and all walls have some sort of art which has positive energy but it can be much better quality and better selection. Rooms, service, breakfast are average. For breakfast you can go inside and outside by river side. quality of breakfast in some items such as Honey is fresh and for some items is less than average. i want hot water for tea and waiters see that water is near to finish but no action and 5-10 min take till i can fill 2 glasses. we find empty seat outdside and seat is not clean and it take long time to clean it. i think their breakfast need some top manager even when food time is without any guest. WiFi was very fast both in the room and lobby. There is a roof terrace - nice place to relax for a while and take a photo from Kranhause. Chocolate museum front of you and cross pass of bridge which nice place to visit chocolate production from Lint brand. Room is clean, modern and simple design. really i think it should be better to have balcony near the river but they do not have. they are stingy on changing towel and in 3 nights less than 1 time they change it.1 bottle of water is free and they do not add it everyday.
As part of a concert trip to Cologne we booked a room at the art'otel, which is located close to the river - and in walking distance to the old area of the city and the main station It was a perfect choice - with a good location, also walking distance to/from the Lanxess Arena (about 30 minutes or so), where the Phil Collins concert took place. The rooms are fairly simple - yet art in the bathroom - and clean. We didn't get the breakfast, as we wanted to see more of the city and thought, we could get just as nice breakfast for less than 20 Euros in the city - and we could. So I do not know of their breakfast. But I have stayed at Art'otel in Berlin - and they had a great breakfast so being in the same chain, I would assume this would apply to this hotel, too - but I haven't checked myself. I had a room facing towards the street - and as I sleep with the window open, it was fairly noisy. If you want an open window during night I can recommend to ask for a room opposite, facing the water. With the window closed it was, however, ok. We might have misunderstood the girl at the reception, but asking how to get to the airport, we got the understanding that a taxi would bring us there for the price of around 15 Euros from the hotel. We took the recommended car (the driver was waiting in the lobby) - and soon realised, that this was not an ordinary cap .- and we had to pay 35 Euros. I doubt a normal taxi would have been 15 Euros - and we could of course have asked in more detail, why the driver was already waiting inside. But it seems more like a hotel-car-service deal. However, the driver was nice and we got there in due time. And as the cost with the train (+ the walking distance to the station) would have been around 25 Euros for 2 people, it was ok to pay these extra 10 Euros with the time saved. But be sure to check. Would I go back to art'otel Cologne? Yes, definitely.
Art'otel is by the river side, about 1.5 km from the railway station. I wouldn't say that the style is very "art" but sorta "youthful". Rooms, service, breakfast are average, whatever it means to anyone. No big mishaps but no moments of great pleasure either. On the good side, wifi was very fast both in the room and in seminar rooms. There's a roof terrace - nice place to relax for a while when the weather is good.
My husband and I stayed at the art'otel for a long weekend exploring Cologne. The location is perfect. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Our room was large and had a great view of the river and the city. The staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good. We ate at the restaurant the first evening. The food was fabulous. The only complaint is the air conditioner in our room wasn't working properly. We did report it and it was checked but it didn't get any cooler in the room. We will definitely stay here again.
My wife had a business trip to Wesserling in January and I joined her for pleasure. We spent 2 days in Cologne and enjoyed the city, its people and fantastic cuisine. The trip was so thrilling that we opted to arrange a vacation in May and stay in Cologne. We arrived at the Cologne art'otel late after breakfast. The entire staff was so accomodating since we were early for check-in and that we had missed the extensive breakfast buffet; our luggage was locked until the room was adaquately prepared and a large array of breakfast foods was served to us in the Lounge. What a great beginning to a fabulous week in Germany. The staff at the Chino Latino Restaurant including the Lounge and the check-in staff made our stay so warm, inviting and extremely comfortable. That made it so difficult to depart and return home. Mirte, superb check-in staff member, accommodated us with authentic German restaurants during our stay and a Brauhaus as well as arranging a time table for our departure to Frankfurt Airport using ICE. We were not disappointed! Our stay was far too short, and we will again make arrangement within 6 or so months to return to Cologne and art'otel!
It is well located in a walking distance from the center. It is clean and with modern decoration. The breakfast was quite good with various options but every day the same. But for sure no value for money since the prices were extremely high.
Very expensive hotel considering there is no airconditioning, a possible cold shower, and tea bags don't get replaced when they are used. The price was obviously inflated to take advantage of the Interzum Fair week.
The hotel was very nice and confortable! i really enjoyed my staying and i really suggest this to everyone. The hotel is close enough to the centre to be practical and far enough to be in a calm place! There are a lot of nice things around the hotel like the chocolate museum or the river that offer a really nice view.
I spent a night at this hotel for a short trip in couple. The parking is not included in the price of the room. The breakfast is average but with the hotel full it's really nosy and too small (people queuing outside for a table). The room (I had an XL room) are just average, the view is not spectacular, the windows are blue or yellow tinted which gives a unpleasant light in the room. The lounge bar and restaurant are really expensive. The plus side is : The bedding confortable The large bathroom The cleanliness I was staying at the radisson blu and I will highly recommend it over this hotel if you're not against walking 10 extra minutes to the city center.
My Girlfriend and I stayed at the Art L'otel for a Saturday night in March and ahve a lovely stay there. Whilst the entrance to the hotel is rather underwhelming the foyer area is very modern and bright and the staff were friendly and helpful on reception. Check in was very easy and we were informed that we had been upgraded to a larger room than we had booked (we had booked a Deluxe River View room) - always nice to hear! The room itself (101) was modern, bright and airy with a large comfortable bed, desk with coffee machine phone etc and a flat screen TV. There were a couple of 'comfy' chairs by the window and the bathroom was very large. The whole room was very clean. My only comment on the room would be the 'River View' which I think is a bit of a stretch and would be from most rooms in the hotel. Whilst you can see the river it is only a small part of the river as between the hotel and the main flow is an island on which many buildings sit and sop you can't really see very much of the river (including the Schokoladen museum - well worth a visit). This was not the end of the world however I feel the description is a bit of an exaggeration and would be similar for all River View Rooms. It is still nicer than looking out onto a main road to be fair! One particularly good point to note was the sound proofing of the room - we were not disturbed by any noise at all during our stay, from either outside or other rooms, something we noted very positively! The room comes with a mini bar, safe etc and of note has both European plugs and a single British 3 pin plug. It is in ideal location for exploring Cologne, being a 10 minute walk from the Central Train Station and Kolner Dom. There are a number of restaurants and Brauhaus's (beer halls - definitely worth going to and trying the small glassed of local beer - Kolsch) relatively close by and it is in a lovely location to walk by the Rhine and get to the very close Schokoladen Museum. The staff were very friendly throughout our visit and assisted us with trying to book a restaurant table for dinner. Overall we had a very nice and comfortable stay here. We would definitely recommend it and would stay here ourselves if we returned to Cologne.
