The location of the hotel is perfect: close to central station. The rooms are tiny and little bit awful, you feel the people smoke inside sometimes. The breakfast is great. I believe it is too expensive. We paid around 250 euro per night. My colleague spent few minutes every morning reading the beautiful reviews in the hall of the hotel. "The best of the best of the best hotel". Why?
Getting a nice Hotel in Europe is not just a comfy bed and a private bathroom. You have to be in the middle of Everything. I've been here twice and if you're looking for a great Hotel, think about staying here. There may be cheaper options, but you are staying in a Hotel that is just 3 blocks away from the Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) and The Kölner Dom. It doesn't get any better that that. Plus, the rooms are supreme clean, comfy, and they have pretty decent space. The bathroom is just amazing. They have a tub, and a huge mirror and a bunch of goodies. That also provide limitless worldwide phone calls, so you can stay in touch with your family or friends or boss. Do yourself a favour and have breakfast here. You will surely not regret it. There is literally breakfast for everybody. And I´m not talking about the usual "Continental Breakfast", but a decent option for the entire Family you won´t find anywhere else.
The room was clean, bright and comfortable for our one night stay. All of the staff were helpful and accommodating. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The only little issue was that the internet was very slow.
This is a very good hotel situated very close to the cathedral and to the railway station. I stayed in a good-sized room equipped with all the basic essentials and maintained in a good condition. I was pleased to find that the safe was large enough to accomodate my notebook computer. The staff was friendly and helpful. they offer a very good breakfast with a selection of about 10 different kinds of cheeses. Overall, this is a good choice for the money I paid, and I would consider coming back here the next time I visit Cologne.
The best thing about the Lindner is its proximity to the Cathedral- Germany's top tourist attraction it seems The hotel rates are reasonable and the breakfast is generous (11 euros per person) which entitles you to a free breakfast the next day - of course this bring Germany the hotel is very clean Also on the plus side is an automated shoe polish contraption near the lifts on each floor The size of the twin bed was reasonable but not on the generous side - the promotional pictures of rooms for this hotel did not bear any resemblance to what we experienced The most basics of needs like the ability to make some tea or ghastly instant coffee in the room was not available Also annoying and this seems to be germane to all German cities I visited is the basic combination of shampoo/bath lotion The room was like a sauna with no ability to turn the temperature below 23 degrees. On the second day there, the cash Machine in the breakfast room was on the blink and we were accosted several times by young hotel staff to sign for the bill where in fact there wasn't one to sign - annoying service was functional but don't expect friendliness or a smile - certainly being proactive with their guests to ensure a pleasant stay was not an option. The sauna and pool is free but who packs swimming trunks in Germany in April? - overall not bad for the money but one could do better.
The IDS is every two years and is the largest dental trade show I the world. This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel, it is quite convenient to travel to the Messe, train station and restaurants. The rooms are a good size, clean and nicely appointed. The daily breakfast offers a nice selection and the restaurant at night has several tasty options if you decide to stay in. This is a good choice for a moderately priced hotel.
Visited this hotel this week while staying Cologne for a few nights. It is located next to the train station and in walking distance to many of the sites in the city. Ideal location to say the least. It does have a resturaunt located on the main floor with very friendly staff. My only complaint is that the "air-conditioning" only blows hot air. You really do not have any control of it the temp in the room. It was so hot inside the room the entire stay that it was absurd. They need to understand because the temp on the outside is 45 does not mean that it needs to 85 inside. Have more flexibility for the a/c.
Clean, close to the Cologne train station. Lots of eating places around and the shopping area is in walking distance as well, with malls and brand name outlets. I had a king bed and it was pretty nice. The room was also pretty good-sized. Mini-bar had only three items but - if you forego room cleaning, the mini-bar is free. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a great start to the day and quite a spread. One thing I didn't like through - unlike many leading hotel chains that have bathroom supplies like soap and shampoo, the bath had this wall-mounted squeezable hand wash by the sink and a shampoo+body wash in the bath. Reminded me of community showers in swimming pools at home. Not a fan of that. Overall, a great hotel to stay at and I would likely go back.
Nice big room, very quiet street, but very central. Just 5 mins walk from the Dom. . The breakfast is sumptuous. The crew is effective and very nice. They have also a fitness and a swimming pool, free of charge. WiFi internet is free, but rather slow. I shall come back
This hotel is in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the cathedral and a 10 minute walk to the start of the old town. If I were to go back to cologne I'd stay here again. Breakfast was decent enough - bacon and scrambled egg was nice and the fruit selection was good. Room was fine - no view really but it did the job and it was good to have a free mini bar! They definitely need to publicise this more as I'd only read about it on TripAdvisor and then rang reception to check (and even then I was waiting to get charged on checkout!) but essentially if you choose not to get your room cleaned (put the hanger outside your door with your room number on) then the next day you can use the whole mini bar for free. It can't be a night where you're leaving the next day though. The pool and jacuzzi was great though and a really nice addition when it's cold outside. I think it is also used by some adjacent flats, and as a result the only downside was the sauna which always seemed to have a naked man in! Presume it's a local custom as us Brits are far too prude for that.
