Nasty smell and very old! Took the elevator 10 min to open

Where to start....? I booked two rooms for six nights. After using the aged elevator (tight), feeling the stuffy hallways and finally seeing the rooms, we knew we couldn't stay there. In both rooms we found things like half filled bottles of soda on the floor, food (Pizza?) on the floor, unclean conditions of the beds, light bulbs out and the final item a used feminine personal care item. I expected a super clean room with like-new bed sheets and covers emanating the desire to stay there. Not to be. I agree with others who say many parts of this hotel did not benefit from the so-called upgrade. The front staff were apologetic, but that wasn't going to change anything. The front entrance, desk area and bar/lounge area were the real upgrades. We checked out and so far have not been charged anything. To see what a really "clean" inviting hotel with friendly attentive staff really is (for around the same price with indoor pool and excellent food) check out the Courtyard Marriott in New Carrolton/Landover just a short walk to the New Carrolton Metro, or use their clean, friendly shuttle service. Would advise both hotel staff and management to pay The Courtyard a visit for a real comparison.

The good: - staff is fantastic, everyone from the bartendress to the shuttle driver and front desk staff was great. - shuttle takes you to the Metro each morning and picks you up until 10pm - breakfast is hot and more than just cereal and fruit (e.g. eggs, pastries, grits, bacon, sausage) - they have a bar in the lobby with reasonably priced beers - Italian restaurant within walking distance The bad: - hotel is on the east side of town, away from the airports a ways (dulles about 40 min, d.c. about 30) - the hotel is older (check out the tiny lobby elevator) - the hotel is located in a low income area. I wouldn't usually mention it but in this case my wallet was stolen near the nearby convenience store (yep, they started charging up the cards right away). The hotel staff (esp. ASHLEY) was very helpful and I made it home.

The atmosphere at the hotel was not inviting. It seemed to have a lot of unsavory characters. A lot of partying going on in the parking lot. The hotel itself was old and not updated. The linens were dirty. White bath towels with stains on them. And lots of little pieces of lint (I hope) on the bed sheets. Overall, not a comforting room. But the one good thing I will say is that the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I did not take advantage of the free breakfast so I have no idea if that would have been good.

Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Free parking, wifi, and breakfast is great. The breakfast, especially, was a very nice spread. The room was very loud however, as the doors are not sealed well and we had people yelling in the hallways at all hours. The finishings in the room were lovely and everything was comfortable. The room smelled a bit of stale smoke, but was large and clean. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd stay there again.

The hotel has been updated and the rooms are nice but the neighborhood is really run down. At 3:30 a.m. the phone rang and my wife answered it. There was a man on the phone talking fast saying he was the hotel manager and needed our credit card number because the computers in the hotel went down and they lost the number for our security deposit. Since it was so early my wasn't sure what the man was asking for so she handed me the phone where he talked fast to me, repeating the same info trying to make me feel stupid and kept asking me for the 16 digit credit card number. I told the man who said he was the manager that I would deal with it in the morning when I was more awake. His reply was you aren't being compliant and I will have you removed from the hotel. I still refused to give the credit card over the phone even telling him I was not comfortable doing this, upon which he said there was some kind of anti fraud protection, but I still would not give him the number. Finally after arguing with this man over and over I said I was coming down to the office to resolve this, and he said I was not compliant and that he was calling 911 and I was going to be removed. When I went down the the hotel to ask about this I was told that no one called me, no one could ask for a credit card over the phone, and that there wasn't a general manager on the night shift. The people at the desk said it must have been a scam, which I suspected myself. Point is shady neighborhood. Be careful.

It was a good stay but the bathroom tub would drain extremely slow which was quite unappealing / disgusting to shower in. Made the experience go from great to just okay.

It's a good value and you get what you pay for. This is an older hotel that's been refurbished. It is OK for the money, nothing fancy, definitely not the ritzy part of town but it did not feel dangerous either. Staff was great. We were there for a Redskins game because it's located near Fedex Field but there is no shuttle service to the stadium. Too bad because they apparently own some buses to take people to the Metro. In winter the AC system is shut down so heat is your only climate control option. Room was a bit loud and there were lots of boisterous football fans in parking lot and hallways. Breakfast is not included and like the rest of the hotel, breakfast is nothing fancy but not expensive.

Place was clean but the units are getting old. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a great plus.

My husband and I chose to stay here because of past good experiences we've had at Wyndham hotels. However, we're now rethinking staying at Wyndham hotels in the future. First, it was really difficult to find the hotel, as the sign off the main street was very small and hardly noticeable. This hotel was a little different and was more of an apartment complex style layout. The building where we checked in was next door to the building where our room was, which we had to walk uphill with suitcases to get to. Then to get to our room, we had to walk up two flights of stairs, again with our suitcases. When we got to the room, you could see that it had upgraded features and was very clean. However, later in the evening when we tried to call the front desk to order room service, we discovered that the phone did not work, so we had to call the front desk using our cell phone. We mentioned that our room phone was not working and inquired about ordering room service. The only response we received was that the restaurant had closed already. The broken phone was not addressed as the person who answered immediately hung up without even as much as a "is there anything else that I can help you with?" The next morning I pulled back the curtains and discovered that we had the worst possible view of a run down swimming pool with brown water pooled at the deep end. What a sight to see! Next time I'm in the area, I'll probably stay at the Holiday Inn Express down the street.
