Residence Inn by Marriott Chico3.0 out of 5.0

The room was typical for a somewhat older Marriott brand motel. The room was clean and the staff friendly. There is a Courtyard Marriott in the same parking lot. Their room rates are about $20 cheaper but I chose the Residence Inn for the included breakfast feature. Big mistake. The food was cold and bland. The Courtyard, across the parking lot charges for breakfast but it is hot and coked to order. Plus the cost is only about $10 per person. In other words, to choose the Residence Inn for the included breakfast is a poor choice. One I won't repeat.
Was on the quiet side of town, very clean, and friendly staff. Everything we requested in our reservation was delivered. Extra towels, a room far from the elevator, top floor, etc... Would definitely stay here against next time in Chico.
I like to stay at Residence Inns because I have many food intolerances and can cook in these hotels. But Marriott really needs to pay attention to some of these properties. They aren't uncomfortable or horrendously dirty, but they are beginning to look dated. In this case, the Chico property could have used a bit more attention to the cleaning of rooms. Mineral buildup needs to be cleaned off the bathroom fixtures and my husband ended up fixing one burner on the stove. I found a fork (!) in the closet and some unknown pill beneath the bed. The fitted sheet was never pulled over the mattress completely, so the bed looked messy for our entire three day stay. These are all minor problems, but indicate a need to really train the staff to make the place look its best.
On our arrival we were told about the meet and greet - free drinks and nibbles. It wasn't nibbles but a full on soft taco dinner. Amazing. The next evening they prepared a grill. The afternoon-night staff are 2 lovely guys. The room was spacious and beautifully presented. Just a little popcorn under the couch left over from the previous guest. At breakfast, the kids enjoyed the waffle machine and fresh fruit. Our 2 day stay here was so good that we booked the Residence Inn at our next destination.
Stayed here for 2 nights in the 2 bedroom suite while in town for Oktoberfest at the Sierra Nevada Brewery. Excellent location, Brewery is right down the street. The room was very spacious, full kitchen, everything you could possibly need. Very clean, very comfortable, great service. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Stayed here for three nights in the 2 bedroom suite and it was awesome having so much room. Hotel was clean and the staff were very responsive to our needs. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the special events in the evening in the lobby. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Chico.
With a car, this location turned out to be perfect. It is in a kind of mixed zones area, a U-Haul dealer across the street was perfect and good deals on bedding half mile down Park Avenue at the sleep broker. We just returned from three nights moving our daughter into her apartment. It was scorching, 108 one day and the Residence inn was a comfy 70 degrees. Actually cold when coming in from the pool. Nice to have the extra room, a one bedroom was perfect for the three of us, sleeper sofa held up. The Breakfast was solid, fairly standard, but one of the best. Actually had biscuits and gravy (not bad) on Sunday morning. There was a nice basketball court. Unfortunately, there was a bit of construction and the Jacuzzi was closed, finally, the staff was outstanding, Marriott should be very proud of this team, always smiling, helpful, going the extra yard. There is a Pete's and a dutch bros coffee within walking distance and this is right across from the employment center for Butte County.
My husband and I spent one night at this hotel property. We were visiting family in Chico and this was our first time staying here. The entry to the hotel lobby has two manually operated doors. An improvement would be to add automatic double doors. Check-in was quick and easy and my request for a quiet room on an upper floor was honored. We stayed in room 319 which was a king size bed with a sleeper sofa. The bed was Very comfortable. The interior of the halls, lobby and the room were in excellent shape. Free internet is so slow that you cannot perform any tasks on the Internet. That is consistent with my prior experience at other Residence Inn Properties. My husband upgraded to a faster connection for $4.95, but it was not blazing fast speed. They serve a meal several days of the week, but we did not participate. The breakfast buffet was quite adequate and filling with dishes and flatware. We did not use the pool during our stay but the exterior area appeared to be clean and in good repair, with the exception of the sauna. There was some caution tape on the ladder to the sauna. Overall, we would definitely stay here again. The cost of the room is high in my opinion, but there aren't many options in Chico.
We shared a 2 bedroom suite with friends and it was perfect. And even tho we were on the freeway off ramp side of the building it was fairly quiet.....not sure if there would be really quiet rooms given the location. Breakfast was good and staff helpful. Would go back. Would even try another Residence Inn elsewhere. Carpeting in the halls needs a clean but with all the food and people coming and going. . . . .close to Bev Mo and Logan's Roadhouse.
I travel quite a bit for work. When I do I try to stay at hotels that offer in-room appliances or kitchens. There are times that I just cannot sit down in another restaurant, and want to prepare food in my room. The Residence Inn is Chico does just that. The property is very comfortable, clean, and has a wonderful staff. There is also a BBQ on site if you want to cook something up. My business travels will be taking me back to Chico more often over the next year, and I plan to spend my nights at the Chico Residence Inn.
