The hotel is in a good location, only about a 10 minute drive to the base for the Navy graduation. They have a shuttle and taxi cabs that will pick you up and take you to the graduation for $6 round trip. The breakfast was a joke, just bagels and cereal. The hotel is older so it has that musty smell to it. The room was clean and comfortable except for the pillows felt like they have marbles in them. The door looked like it had been kicked in and patched up. They really should replace it so you feel safer.
For a Howard Johnson it's a great place to stay with a 24 hour restaurant across the parking lot. It's not big and the best part it doesn't smell.
Carpet in room stained and filthy. No bedside lamps, 1 small light on wall , broken drawers on dresser. Furniture old, very loud ac unit. Pictures on internet nothing like room. Needs to be updated terribly. Door to bathroom old and did not shut. Ironing board in room rusty, wouldn't stay up. Requested room change, given another room just as filthy, and outdated. Parking terrible as hotel shares parking lot with DMV.
Hotel was clean and staff was helpful and accommodating. Rooms were dated and small but very clean. Breakfast had very limited options. Decent for the price.
Carpet in room very dirty smells bad. Breakfast should not be called breakfast even for a continental style very poor
Workers were friendly but outside the window of our room everybody went to smoke their cigarettes. So room stunk all night. also the carpet was quite dirty. Lastly our tub had like 5 or 6 big cigarette burns along the edge of it. I reported it to morning desk guy and he said yes it was probably from before. It was gross!!!!!!
The beds were hard as a rock and the breakfast was horrible. My room is by the parking lot so I got to listen to Hornsby pin and door-slamming all night. The place was clean though'll
I was extremely happy with my stay at the Howard Johnson. It was very clean, quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The service was awesome and very helpful. You will not be disappointed in this hotel.
Rooms are decent priced but the quality is not quite what it should be. Maybe it is "you get what you pay for" Front desk employees should really be more available for their guests.
Our granddaughter graduated from the Navy. Not knowing a thing about Chicago it was a stab in the dark picking a motel. Helen n Terry (?) could not be nicer. Sweet and accomindating! The housekeeping staff.....I've never seen so many! Working hard and always a good morning/afternoon! We were so impressed! Though the rooms need updating they were clean. Breakfast was motel breakfast. I don't think anyone should ever expect grandeur at any motel! The important thing is it was managed very well and that is a reflection on management! Terry was nice enough to come out from around her deck to shut the TV off when she saw the 4 of us trying to listen to the Navy graduation on our computer. We're still wondering if it was tears of proud grandparents n Uncle that was brought to her attention! A shout out to Helen n her Husband congratulations on your marriage and all the hard work you do for Howard Johnsons!! Youre both a great example for all the young people of today! Regards Gail,Frank n Doris
