We stayed at the Red Roof Inn - Gurnee for two nights. Check-in was quick & the clerk was very knowledgeable and helpful about nearby dining & shopping, information & instructions to the Naval Graduation & shuttle service. Every room has a small fridge & microwave. The rooms and common areas were clean. Quiet area with plenty of outdoor areas for pets. There are no elevators, so if you cannot tolerate stairs, I would request a first floor room when booking. There is no continental breakfast but a Burger King, Wendy's & McDonald's within walking distance. Overall, we enjoyed our stay & would recommend.
The maintenance that was done in the room was poorly done so it didn't look as good as it should. The coffee was terrible and had to be cut with hot water to make it drinkable. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
The property is pretty basic. There was a luggage cart but no elevator?! It’s affordable. It’s close to the base, if you’re there for Navy graduation. There seems to be good access to the major highways to go see tourist things, but we didn’t do much of that. There’s A Lot of fast food close by. Which is convenient. It’s pet friendly and there’s access to grass and extra bags to clean up after your pet if you forget your own. The room was a little shabby, but a satisfying attempt is made to keep everything clean. You get what you pay for. Overall, it was well worth it.
Price was reasonable. The rooms are not carpeted but have luxury vinyl tile instead. The room above us walked around with shoes or boots much of the time, which we heard all night. The price was right, the place was clean, but stay on the top floor for better acoustics.
Rooms were not kept up or clean. Air conditioner locked unable to adjust the temperature. No food available except a machine with old candy. No one made the beds, after 1st night., Blanket had huge cigarette burn in non smoking room.
The only thing I like was the water temp and pressure. Will not stay there again I heard the people next door when they talked, showered, and flushed the toilet. Hair was in the bathroom sink and on the linen.
The blanket on one of our beds had multiple stains on it. One of the side doors to the building lock is broken, so anyone could just walk in without swiping a keycard.
The place needs to be upgraded to a hotel standard.

I stayed in room 130 on the ground floor the light in the bathroom is too hot when turn on would cause fire need proper shower curtain, sink is not draining properly the hotel has a musty smell. The guest upstairs keep us up whole night by walking back and forth whole night people around parking lot during the night . So with that said we cut or three nights into two night stay so I want my one night refund . I would never stay there or recommend it to anyone
The sign outside was not lit, there was no way to tell where the building was. We found it by accident. We reserved 2 rooms about a month before and they only had 1. We had to find somewhere else to stay at 10pm on a Friday night

Something was always forgot. The soap. A towel. Trash pulled. I always had to do something or go get something everyday. The outside of hotel was classless and a bit sketchy looking. The awning or portico was need of repair. They DID NOT serve breakfast.
