This is absolutely, hands down, the best place to stay in Chiang Mai!!! There are a lot of very nice resorts and hotels in Chiang Mai but 137 Pillars House just stands out above the rest. We literally did not want to leave this amazing boutique hotel. From the moment you arrive at the airport and they pick you up to the moment you check out, they treat you like family. Nothing is impossible. You get your own butler that you can text at any time for anything that you may need. The rooms are absolutely spectacular and all the amenities are above 5 stars. When we return to Chiang Mai, this is the only place we would ever stay in.

While there are rave reviews I have to add my voice to the chorus. While rooms are outstanding it is the quality of attention to detail and the incredible staff that push it in to the best of the best list. Forget luxury chains, this hotel proves that a small boutique can rise to the occasion of demanding travellers. The breakfast in the gardens set me up for the day.

The service at this hotel is incredible. Upon arrival you are assigned a butler that is available to help at a moments notice (via text message which is super convenient - great idea ! ). The comfort of the rooms, privacy and overall quality really is unmatched. This is really the kind of place one who never goes back to places would go back to. 5+ stars!!

My wife and I are from the US and are well traveled. We have stayed at some of the world's nicest hotels and resorts. 137 Pillars is easily the most impressive place we have stayed at on all fronts: ambiance, location, food, amenities, layout of rooms, etc. But, what makes this the best in the world is the service, and that would not be possible without the head butler, Toto. We would give the service 10 stars if we could. Consider this: Toto meets us at the airport and walks us to a luxury van (leather seats, cold water, A/C, & plenty of room to stretch out). After introductions are exchanged, I felt something on my back--you guessed it--massaging seats. Toto then shows that he is already briefed on what we are up to during our stay and proceeds to go through our itinerary explaining how he will double check and make reservations and book tuk-tuks (Chiang Mai motor taxis) for us beforehand before we leave for each outing. He explained the amenities available and mentioned a private Muay Thai martial arts class. I said I was interested and he took care of immediately booking the teacher that came directly to the gym. By the time we arrived at 137 Pillars, Toto had his notes on everything we wanted to do and had a checklist of things he would do to make everything as smooth as possible for us. Here are some following things Toto did for us: *Exchanged phone numbers with us so we could text back and forth directly with him during our stay (which we did...we even texted him after our stay! LOL!) *Texted me the night before my Muay Thai lesson reminding me to wake up early for it. I might have forgotten. *Knew when I was coming back from our 10 mile jungle hike. Stated that our hiking boots were muddy and offered to clean them. I said I was tired and we would deal with it the next day. He had us just lay them outside our room and then took care of them. Next morning, they were clean, tied and waiting on our doorstep. *I pinched a nerve in my neck during our stay and mentioned it offhand to Toto. He said use a cold pack the first 24 hours, then use heat. That night, his assistant brought a cold pack and a hot pack to our room. These are just some of the small details that made our stay truly memorable. We are back in the US and still stay "Let's just text Toto, he'll take care of it!" The most impressive thing was that he genuinely cared about us and our experience. He showed this by listening (VERY rare with most hotels) and then executing. If you are in Chiang Mai and do not stay at 137 Pillars (regardless of your budget), you are really doing yourself a disservice. Again, 10 stars out of 5.

Impressive design, amazing service, and offers a really comfortable stay. Even though it is not located in the old town area, going to places was very convenient with the help from staff and the tuktuk. Their afternoon tea was also splendid. Would come back.

This is the best hotel we've stayed at - anywhere. Its well located with shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk and Chiang Mai 'central' just a few more minutes by tuk tuk which the hotel staff will organise. Also there is a beautiful temple at the end of the road in which the hotel is situated. From collection at the airport to delivery back to the airport and everything inbetween - all was first class. The staff are just so kind and helpful with nothing too much trouble. Our room was splendid with lots of space and a great outside seating area on the balcony - all immaculate. The food was also first class. A great experience. Thanks 137. We'll be back.

Thank you to everyone who made the start of our honeymoon so amazing. When booking, we thought it was a little pricey for Chiang Mai, Thailand, but it really was worth every single penny and we would not hesitate to recommend to others and to return here ourselves. We felt a genuine consideration from all the team and each department. Toto was especially helpful. The hotel is located just outside the central (old town) of Chiang Mai and its a walk-able distance, although you can take a tuk tuk which we did on one occasion. The rooms are huge and elegantly furnished - possibly one of the best hotel rooms I have had the pleasure to stay in. The bedding (comfort and linen) was exceptional. Each evening mosquito coils would be lite outside our front door and also on our balcony. We were also offered a complementary massage and cannot rate the spa treatment highly enough.

Ms Pui was the greatest assistant to my wife and I during our stay at 137 Pillars house. Her thoughtfulness made our adventures in Chiang Mai greater than we could have hoped for. She anticipated options that my wife and I did not consider. When we went to go see the elephants, she put together a small travel bag with towels that we could use when we were finished pampering the pachyderms. Ms Pui's knowledge of the area and all the different attractions provided us ample information to plan our visit in the short amount of time we had there to explore almost everything that Chiang Mai has to offer. She was wonderful to us. I would ask for her by name when we come back. The facilities of 137 Pillars is rich in history as well as being a five start location near the heart of the action within Chiang Mai. Of the thirty units on the property, they are unique in providing top tier creature comforts. I enjoyed having an outdoor shower while my wife took every opportunity to lie in the large claw foot tub. We had a our individual choice of pillows. There was a large covered porch outside the room with an old style rocking chair and a patio couch. It had a ceiling fan and subtle lights for night caps. The restaurant on the property offered three different locations to eat: The main dining room which had about 16 tables, the Pallet, and the open window lounge overlooking the plaza lawn. There was a spa on site which gave superb service. My wife and I love 137 Pillars House. It kinda ruined other locations that we stayed out during our tour of Thailand. When we return to Chiang Mai, we are definitely staying at 137 Pillars House again. Thank you Ms Pui for the wonderful service.

Wow! Best hotel/resort experience we have ever had, and I am not just saying that. The hotel grounds are a beautiful oasis from the dust and noise of Chiang Mai. The spa is perfect with a great variety of massages and treatments. Breakfast is free with a huge selection of food. The restaurant and bar/lounge are like stepping back to Victorian British days with the heavy wooden pillars, teak wood paneled rooms, comfortable chairs and French doors. But the best part of our stay was our personal butler Pui. She was wonderful in taking care of anything we needed. With cell phone texts, she was ready to help us whenever we needed anything. She even managed to get us in to the Elephant Sanctuary at the last minute and arrange a driver for us. (She even packed us towels and her own personal rain ponchos in case we needed them...fortunately we didn't.). Everyone working at 137 Pillars is wonderful, but special thanks to Pui for making our visit to Chiang Mai and 137 Pillars an unforgettable trip.

I had booked a trip to Chiang Mai as an early birthday present to my mum and decided to treat her to a stay at 137 Pillars, which I've heard of from an acquaintance. The hotel was every bit as comfortable and luxurious as expected and the service was exemplary. Pooh, the supervisor, and Pui, the butler assigned to us, both demonstrated top-notch customer service skills. Special thanks goes to Pui for providing excellent suggestions for our daily itinerary as I was too lazy to research beforehand and went to Chiang Mai with absolutely no idea what to expect. I literally wouldn't know what I'll do on the trip without her! All in all, a hotel that I'll gladly recommend to my friends.
