I stayed here because it was a great location near the University of Illinois. My room was pretty standard. Nice sized pool, but the workout room was tiny.

The good: Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms, and the best breakfast around! No baged eggs here and the bacon was very well done. Rooms are spacious and clean. The bad: Having a decent Wifi connection is really important to my business. Watching a computer icon spin because it can't hook up to the Internet is not my idea of a good time. Fix that and you've got a truly great mid priced hotel.

Perfect location, great rrom and comp breakfast.

Good breakfast, about a mile from campus. The bathroom could use an update.

Stayed at the Hawthorne Inn and Suites on a recent family road trip. There were 6 of us attending a family reunion in the Midwest and we needed a pet-friendly place to stay. We were pleased to find a very affordable rate on a big studio suite that accommodated all of us comfortably and included a wonderful hot and cold breakfast, complete with omelettes made to order.

For the price, the hotel is OK, however it shows its age. The air conditioning in the room was functioning at either high or off and the screen was full of debris. Room had a less than fresh underlying smell - air fresheners were topping it off. Mattress pad had plastic cover ... not a fan. Public areas fine and staff friendly.

Stayed here for three nights with my husband, mother, and sister. Room was nice and well appointed; staff was very friendly. Breakfast offered a lot of options, but nothing over the standard "free hot breakfast" options you would normally see -- EXCEPT they had some guy making omelettes, which was dope! Pool area was not the most inviting, but the pool and hot tub itself were fine and suited our needs. Over all I would recommend this hotel, but it was a bit more run-down than I would have expected for the location and the price.

Room was small by any standard. We paid a premium for a multiple room suite, and got a single room. Bathroom was so small we had to step in the shower to close the door. Room was dirty, refrigerator was gross, and the layout was anything but comfortable. Couch was in such poor shape you would fall thru when you sat down. Even the elevator looked like it had seen better days. Staff was very noncommittal, and service was slow. Parking was not close, and the reception area was quite congested. Overall this is not a very friendly place to stay.

The hotel room was clean and spacious. The swimming pool and hot tub are also very nice and clean. The hot breakfast was amazing for the value.

Very nice hotel for what we were looking for. Location looked much better on the maps then actually being there. But still close to campus, which is what we wanted. Overall nice experience. Nice touch on the fresh made to order omelettes for breakfast.

I stayed in this hotel for a week for a research workshop. The room is clean and pleasant to stay in with some nice amenities (i.e. lemon water in the lobby, chef on site for the breakfast). My only gripe is the location, which required a 10 minutes bus rides to the campus, although the bus is only 5 minutes away from a central bus station.

I stayed overnight with 4 teens the night before a U of I open house. Everything was really good except for the pullout couch mattress. The poor boy who had to sleep on it had a bar in his back all night. Thank goodness he's young.

Room was fine. Staff was great. TV controls did not work properly though. Parking was a bit difficult.

My wife and I were out this weekend with another couple enjoying downtown Champaign. The downtown Hyatt wasn't quite open yet, so we stayed here instead. Its an easy drive from downtown, just a short trip down Neil st. The room was very nice. The beds were comfy. They had a great-sounding free hot breakfast in the morning, but it was super crowded so we didn't partake. No major complaints really. And the price was cheaper than a couple other "close to downtown" options. Would stay again. . . except the Hyatt will probabably be open next time.

We got to this hotel late in the evening. The front desk person was very kind and helpful. We ordered pizza from Monicals at his suggestion. When we got it, we ordered salad but didn't have forks. The gentleman gave us a couple forks to use. The bed was very comfortable and my husband and I loved the pillows. My husband even commented that he wondered if they sold those somewhere. We skipped the breakfast that was included but it looked good.

This was a top quality place, especially for the price. But business was booming, and the breakfast room was simply too small. Extend the hours, to spread out the crowd?

The hotel was great. However, conditions outside were icy and parking near the hotel was extremely limited.

Very nice place..... I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the hawthorn suites for business on a Thursday night. There was a large group of firemen staying there as well, some sort of training maybe. Some of them were rude and loud as the walls were thin. The bed was comfortable and the room was nicely appointed. I really wanted to take a nice hot shower and the water was only warm turned all the way to hot. Parking on the hotel lot is limited and I had to park in the lot across the street. There is a really nice restaurant on the same lot and it's on the Main Street so convenient to others.
