Love this place. Got an upgraded room. Breakfast is very good and has very good options. Waitress are very nice but super slow. They may be short in staff. Breakfast gets too crowded. I had to complain twice because nobody served my table. Private parking on site. Will recommend this place to everyone

Used the pool, sat on the beach, and easy to get to everything

Cartagena is one of my favorite places in the world to visit. And El Caribe made the experience even better. The staff was superb, the grounds were excellent, from the gardens to the parrots to the miniature deer family to the toucan was a wonder. If you want an excellent place to stay, you can do no better than El Caribe!

A lot of changes since I last stayed here. The lifts -ascensores - are still slow and one was permantely out of service, the stairs for an option up four floors was always faster. The coffee service in a morning is now self service where it used to be served at the table, that was a nice touch now lost. Otherwise, the full size pool was great!

This hotel is old on the outside but it is very nice inside. My stay was great but when I was leaving the security went through my car looking to see if I stoles anything . I found that strange being that they took my rental and parked it themselves

Nice hotel. Kind and friendly staff, very good food, loved to see the animals like deers, tucans and others around the hotel. Cable is not the best, very few channels in English ... Other than that it was a very pleasent experience .

Vacations with my son and my mother. Cons cheking out was slow and thanks to that I miss my flight. I told employees that they were taking long and I was going to miss my flight that didnt seem concern. I had to pay extra for my son and I for missing flight :( not so happy about the way they handle my situation. Lunch buffet was expensive, food wasnt good and very little variety Pros This hotel has a nice spot to take a tan with own showers and bathroom plus a restaurant. its not so close to beach but the good thing is that the ppl who sale stuff cant bother( I prefer to see ppl hustling than begging for money, but oh man....it can get annoying). Breakfast was excellent. I love torta española and they make it so good. This is not a party hotel. For me that was a plus. Gay friendly. Nice pool and beds to relax. I will definitely stay here again and will recommend to my friends and family.

The hotel staff was friendly and were willing to act promptly on all requests. The breakfast buffet was stellar and the poolside bar was exceptionally comfortable. The hotel grounds were like entering a park in that it was well manicured.

Best pool I have ever seen at a hotel. It is for swimmers who like to do laps not for people who want to swim up to the bar. Rooms are ok but the grounds are wonderful. And breakfast is good too

WE PAID FOR A GARDEN VIEW AND THE ONLY ROOM AVAILABLE WAS ON THE 2ND FLOOR WITH A STREET VIEW THE ROOM WAS NOT MADE ONE DAY AND WE HAD TO ASK FOR SERVICES OTHER DAYS IN CHECKING OUT WE HAD TO CALL THE FRONT DESK 4 TIME EVENTUALLY WE STARTED TO CARRY DOWN OUR OWN LUGGAGE

No hot water. You have to let the tap run for a while before water gets hot. Close to beach. Book this hotel because I didn't like the boutique hotel in the Old City.

Not a good experience. No hot water to shower for 3 days The staff was very friendly and helpful, but they could not get the hot water to work.

Hotel is a little dated. Needs some renovation. It is clean. Pool is very nice. Across street from public beach. Hotel has own umbrellas for free. On weekends need to go early to get one. Beach is not carribean looking beach. More like jersey shore. Need to go to Rosario islands for that. Close to town. 15 minute taxi ride, costs $3. So very convenient. Staff is very friendly, but slow service. Very few staff speak English.

I travel whole lot and get very tire of hotels. Caribe is great ith the gardens, the toucan and hite tailed deer in the shaded gardens, the pool and the great staff..something like a "home aay from home" I look forward to returning to the Caribe and to Cartagena...

The hotel and facilities are excellent! Clean rooms, friendy and attentive staff, beautiful classical decor, beautiful gardens and a big pool area. We only went to the beach one time and left quck because of the constant and I mean constant barage of venders trying to sell us something which was very agrivating. We travell as a couple seaking a peaceful, romantic and tranquil vacation(s). So the second drawback - for us - was that during our stay the resort had numerous families with young childern, especially in the pool area. This hotel would be great for families vacationing but not for the private peaceful romantic experience we were seeking. Because of our personal preferences we checked out and moved after our two day stay.

My wife and me were 7 days...it was very fun...the food was very good...the pool is very nice....everything was good...except by the steps near to the pool...

The location was very good. The food was good in the hotel, but a little expensive for the quality. The pool was excellent and so was the service.

I did not find the staff a particularly welcoming. If you do not arrive via car to the hotel it is a bit awkward to walk up a narrow street to reach the front door of the lobby. There the staff seem more interested in gossip than in opening the door for you. During the check in the woman said that there was a daily fee. It was not much but i said that i was not made aware of any additional fee. It felt like a rip off. I asked for a quiet room and yet i was given once close to the pool. The problem is that they have techno music blasting all through the day and it can be heard through the cheap windows installed all through out the hotel. I asked to be moved but they were a bit reluctant to do so. They did in the afternoon. However they placed me in a roon right outside to a dinner they had with a university. I protested and finally was given a room away from noise. The breakfast was ok, but by that i mean just ok. there was a cue for eggs, which one had to wait in the scorching heat. I also found that the staff did not tell me about a bus that takes you to the hotel, instead offered only the taxi service which is much more expensive. Given that i checked in on my birthday the woman at the front desk said she would have something extra for me. That would have been great hospitality. That never took place. The best things about the hotel are the colonial part architecture and the pool which has a deep end of close to 4 meters.

We when with my family for spring break and was so nice. The hotel is nice with a good service... The buffet was no to good because was the same every day. In general was a good experience...

The front desk check in and check out process is horrible and SLOW! They take reservations with the computer, but that is all! All the other systems still use slow manual card file-very dated, unorganized, and NOT accurate!! U will waste an hour to do what could take 5 min..... They accept a credit card for payment, but demand cash when it is time to check out, and are more than willing to waste your time and have you miss your boat to do it!! The won't use the credit card they already have on file! The check-out process is more of a "ransom" to get your luggage back!!! A nice location, but a banana republic hostage attitude, I won't ever go back!! They would not provide the room I paid for with a reservation! The AC system does not have a thermostat in room, so it is too warm in the afternoon, and too cold in the morning.... The ocean view room needed to have the curtain closed in order to cool the room- so the ocean view was not user friendly....
