MY mother tought me that "if you can't say anything nice you shouldn't say anything at all." Well I just don't think I can stay quiet. Please do not waste your time. The staff are nice enough but the building is run down, does not have an elevator and the rooms are dark and dingy with thin little matresses on cement slabs. It felt like a jail. The pool was out of commission and the building really run down. We had booked through booking.com and ended up staying only one night. We came late in the evening and the room was crawling with little aunt like bugs and didn't even have a bed side lamp. The next day we couldn't get up soon enough to search out another hotel. We found one even cheaper and in a better location that was miles better than Ikaro Suites.
We were pleased with the size of this room. There are only approximately 15 suites in this hotel. All the rooms we saw had 1 or 2 televisions depending on floor plan. There is a microwave, refer, sink and basic dishes and silverware. There is a king size bed and 2 twin beds along with the kitchen area spread out in 2 large rooms. The bathroom is okay functional with an individual water heater per room. AC cooled sufficiently. The pool and area outside is large but lacks enough lounge chairs and seating areas. It is a short walk to the ADO bus station and Palapas Parque. Good price....would stay again.
My life partner and I have stayed here for two weeks and the location, Hotel, and most importantly, the staff have helped us to enjoy one of our better vacations. Our goal was to escape the cold weather/snow and to have Sun, Fun, and Beaches. Ikaro Hotel Suites exceeded our expectations. The guests we encountered in the Hotel were friendly and helpful. The staff from House Keeping, Maintenance, Front Desk and Management to a person made us feel welcome every day with inspirational smiles and readiness to assist when we needed help. We are very independent and flexible and found the perfect fit at Ikaro. We easily walked the 3 - 5 kilometers from the hotel to the first beach, playa Las Perlas and from there we could walk from beach to beach or return to Kukulkan and walk on the path or take a bus to additional beaches or destinations in the Zona Hotelera. The bus service is excellent .and very, very frquent. At the end of our stay we were on first name basis with our new found friends at Ikaro and so happy that we chose to stay here. The rates were very reasonable and as long as long as these circumstances ascribed above remain operative, we would gladly stay here again. The TV is not flat screen but the number/variety of channels available and the swival stand for multiple view angles more than compensates for this.
Swimming pool, spacious suites with quiet air conditioners, swimming pool... a bit tricky to find but the place well worths a search!! Would definitely recommend. The only down point is there is no restaurant/ bar, which is disappointing as the area is just full of hotels, not many coffee shops where to have breakfast.
Suites are clean and spacious with separate bedroom, lounge, and kitchen equipped with microwave, small refrigerator and utensils. TV swivels to watch in lounge or bedroom, even has few channels in English. Bedroom king-size bed plus 2 singles in lounge also used as sofas. Pool in garden area. Morning coffee freshly brewed in lobby. Convenient location for bus, stores, cafes, downtown area or tours. Best of all is hotel's staff, genuinely friendly, helpful and courteous. Have stayed several times and will gladly return.
After a delayed flight i arrived with my 9 year old around 12-20 am just to find out that they had given my room, my paid room to someone else, because i had not arrived yet. al they said was, we are sorry and good luck finding a hotel. there are some restaurants and cigar store near by. it is far from the beach. stay away. very unprofessional.
I agree 100% with SAGC from Calgary! We had the identical experience and I felt as if I was in some sort of flophouse. The drapes were barely hanging, the pool was empty and the elevator is still broken (although we did get assistance with our luggage). Only 2 towels were available and one had a huge hole in it. No hand towel was provided. Thankfully we got in late and left early the next day.
After reading some of the reviews I decided to stay in this hotel. It was a big mistake! The elevator did not work and no one volunteered to help me with some of my luggage. The room was big but shabby. The drapes were barely hanging and the linens were not in good shape. The bathroom was hot (no air conditioning there) and the toilet very old. The TV was ancient and the remote was broken. The booking sites mention that the hotel is 100 m (or 100 yards) from the bus station. IT IS NOT TRUE! The hotel is four or five blocks away hidden in a neighbourhood that USED TO be good, now it has a few restaurants, many empty spaces and shady businesses. The swimming pool was not very clean and the price was high for what you receive. There are reviews on the booking sites regarding bed bugs, I would not be surprised to find some. Do yourself a favour and spend a few more dollars and stay in a better place!!!
Three nights in #105. Super large, immaculately clean, with refrigerator and micro made it like home. Quiet A/C, great bed. Staff was both very friendly and accommodating. English no problem. Nice little dipping pool. Truly only 100 yds (West diagonal) from Ado bus terminal. Walk south and within a block walk west thru the little parks to get to traffic circle, continue west about 50 yards and you are there. Super convenient to stores and markets. Central Cancun was safe, easy to navigate with lots of "local" feeling. NOT the "hotel zona" vibes. Hotel, room, city, and staff made for a great few days. Great value for the buck! Now onto Isla Mujeres.
PROS: Huge suite, Clean, big bathroom, 2 A.C., pool and hot tube that nobody ever use, WiFi, bar roof top that nobody use with view all around, quiet, fridge, microwave, king bed with pillow top, big long pillows, nice clean sheets, safe in the room (a big plus), lots of TV channels, 2 single beds, conveniant store 1 block to the left, downtown, 3 blocks from ADO bus terminal (got charged 100 pesos by a cab to get here.. in acapulco I rented a cab for the whole night for the same price..) CONS: far from the beach (probably 15 minutes bus drive for 6 pesos), no stove but sonebody could buy one of those electric cooking plates (maybe they have some at the front desk.. if not they have a wallmart (15minutes walk)
