Great architecture. Great location. Historic building right downtown.

Staff were friendly from the moment we arrived. We arrived early, after a red-eye and they invited us to eat breakfast and let us have our room shortly thereafter. Room was beautiful, very modern and European-feeling. We had a view of the old state house. Valet parking was super-convenient.

We were in town for a few days after attending commencement. We found this hotel on Orbitz at a competitive price with a pretty good location. It's right across the street from the Old State House and T station; a stone's throw from Quincy Market, a 10 minute walk to the water front/North End. Very convenient to get to/from the airport. I did almost walked right pass the hotel due to its unnoticeable entrance. Once we walked in, I wondered if we walked in the side or back because the lobby is about the size of a standard hotel room with 2 podiums to the side. It's in an old historic building so I understand it's built small. The room decor was modern and has all the amenities. We had an early start the first day and walked all over town in the cold rain. So by early afternoon we were tired and wanted to get back to the room for a nap. It was 2:00 and the cleaning staff was just getting to our room. So we headed down to get a bite. After a half an hour we were ready to take that nap. But it seems the hotel was not conducive to napping. Even though we had the corner room with no neighbors, there was a lot of noise that kept us up: people talking (maybe down the hall neighbors), doors banging, what seems to be furniture moving scrapping the floor. All in all, the hotel was a good deal. The staff was very courteous. The hotel provide complementary bike rentals that we took advantage of to visit Cambridge.

I was never told the hotel was under construction when I booked the reservation. The main restaurant and bar was closed. The room rates should have been reduced accordingly, but they were not. Room was OK but towels were stingy for a classy hotel. Housekeeping staff did not show up until 3 PM or so each day. Overall, nice place but not worth the money. I will go elsewhere on future stays. Ideal location, terrific staff, modern and clean room. We will stay here again for sure!

Staff was friendly and location was very convenient. Part of the facilities were under renovation, e.g. kitchen and lobby. However , it didn't appear the carpet in the room had been vacuumed before our visit. The noise level was moderate given location.

Excellent location in Downtown Boston. Easy to get around.

Ames Boston Hotel is a hip, botique-style hotel in the middle of downtown Boston. I've seen minimalist used to describe the room decor. I guess that's true, but the hotel had all the items I'd expect in a 4-star property. I liked the hardwood floors in the guestrooms -- I just think they add to the cleanliness.Be sure to notice the mirrors as you get off the elevator ... there is a hidden hologram inside them! I'd certainly recommend the Ames Boston Hotel. Someday, I may even be cool enough to fit in!

We were only in Boston for 3 days and 2 nights after spending a week in Cape Cod. Our stay in Ames Hotel was excellent. Great value for the great location! Right in the heart of historic sites. The only issue we had was the slow internet and the cable where we ordered to see a movie but the channel kept switching to a preview and never got to finish the movie till the following day. But they compensated by giving us free breakfast which was really cool! The staff was great!

We loved the location but hotel was a bit cold and service wasn't as friendly as we would have liked.

walking distance from public transportation - Amtrack station(South station), aquarium, wharf, shopping spot - downtown crossing, parks, etc. modern design, high ceiling. However little noisy at a night because it is almost center of city. it was no blocking from bright lights - neon signs because it didn't have dark courtains, just one layer white courtain.

ok. I will recommend to my friend about this hotel.

This hotel is perfectly located. The only downside is the constant traffic noise.

The Ames is a swanky little boutique. We had the room with the glass shower and per other reviews I requested a higher floor to get away from the street noise. We enjoyed this hotel and would return! We did not eat at the hotel and parked at the public garage on beacon.

Great place for business travel. Comfortable rooms, elegant style, affordable and delicious breakfast...overall great place.

This is well located, clean and friendly. Beds are very comfortable and the room was upscale and modern. The only downside is that there is no bar or restaurant. It would have been nice to have a drink at the end of a long day without having to leave.

My partner and I won tickets to a 12:30 Bruins game at the Garden. We decided to make a weekend out-of-it and stay overnight rather than return to Vermont the same day. When we booked the hotel, I am positive that parking was included because we were only looking at hotels with this amenity. I called the day before because we were concerned we would not be able to park the car there before the game as check in was not until 3. The man at the front desk told me that it would be fine for us to park at the hotel and that we could check our bags if we wanted. He did not mention that it was valet parking and that we would not have access to our car without fifteen minutes notice. When we arrived, we did not see any signs for hotel parking. So I called again. The woman at the front desk explained they did not have a parking garage and that it was valet parking--which would have been fine IF we'd known before. She also mentioned that parking was not included in our rate. We packed rather quickly and threw things in the car thinking that we would be able to leave our things in the car while we were at the game. Instead, we had to look like country bumpkins who couldn't afford the hotel. I had most of our items in a bag my mother made that is open on top for the world to see everything inside. I was extremely annoyed that I took the time to call the hotel to ask about the parking situation so I would be prepared and that I was not made aware of these details. Upon returning from the game, there had been a shift change and the annoying woman who "helped" us prior to the game was no longer working. She had been replaced by a delightful man who was very helpful and made the remainder of our stay quite nice! The room was very comfortable and spacious. The glass shower even with the curtain was odd, but fine for us. The view from the room was nice and the hotel is located right in the heart of everything. We very much enjoyed our stay overall.

Room was fantastic and the location was convenient for downtown and Back Bay activities. The fitness center was a plus, clean, modern and wi-fi enabled. Just be aware that the hotel no longer has a bar/lounge. It was closed which was a disappointment.

Great staff, attentive. Lovely room. Needs restaurant

I selected this hotel for its location and advertised Resturant option. Unfortunately the Resturant was not open. There was some renovation going on. I only encountered 2 staff members, the young woman at the desk was very friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The door person, did not speak, greet or question if we needed assistance. We walked by the hotel twice bevause there was no signage. No awning with a name. And the door person did not make eye contact never mind ask if we were looking o the hotel. Once inside it was a pleasant experience. Simple comfortable atmosphere. Once in the room, we were very pleased with the accommodations. Comfortable bed and sofa. Great view from windows. Spacious bathroom as well. Really liked the room. I would definitely stay here again. My only request would be that you ask for a higher floor. Street noise was present and for light sleepers probably a problem. Great location! Can not stress this enough. Close proximaty to food, historical landmarks, parking and shopping.
