The property was well maintained and well located. We stayed at AKA hotel Back Bay from July 2-July 5. The assistant General manager Ryan Stephan was wonderful and helpful with accommodating an early check in as well as accommodating for a later check out. He provided recommendations of places to see and eat, and overall had a great personality. Also Chris who was one of the porters was always there to help assist with our bags, and getting the door for us.

Impressive first visit to Boston

Hotel AKA is very nice! All workers were excellent and kind, and the property is extremely well kept. We especially liked the quality of the bathroom and shower! If there is any constructional criticism, it would be that we prefer better pillows (they tend to go flat quick), and the nespresso machine was not our taste (coffee was much too strong). But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. We had to end our stay one day earlier than planned and the staff, especially Ryan, helped us out and we were not charged the last night. Also, hotel is nicely located close to Back Bay and Newberry St.

This hotel isn’t a great location. I love the fact that it’s in a historic building which I believe used to be the Boston police headquarters. Everyone there is so friendly and nice. The rooms are nice and the bed was comfortable and very clean. They have a great bar downstairs within attached outdoor café and restaurant. The menu is mostly light bar fare. Although they do have the Berkeley, which has dinner, but also a very simple menu. This place is in a very convenient location to get around.

Unfortunately dissapointing stay We travel to Boston quite frequently and like to stay at different hotels to enjoy different neighborhoods and accomodations. My wife was particularly looking forward to returning to AKA Back Bay, as we had stayed in this hotel a few years back on our way to Cape Cod. She had been following the hotel on instagram and learned that the it had undergone a major overhaul that updated the property. Upon entering, we saw that the lobby had been completely renovated, it was bright and modern. But evidently the whole property has not been renewed. The room we were assigned was clearly not renovated. The room looked dated; it was dark and cramped with the same bulky furniture we saw five years ago.. Later, we found out that not all rooms have been renovated and our nightly rate did not qualify for the “newer” rooms. Mind you, we were paying @ $400 a night. Regardless, we decided to make the best of our stay. But then, other issues popped up. When we left the hotel around noon on the second day, we asked for the room to be made. We were assured it would be taken care of before our return. However, when we came back around 9:00 p.m., nothing had been done. The room was exactly as we left it. When we asked about it at the front desk - to the same man who had checked us in the day before, - he didn’t offer any explanation, just a blank acknowldgement, offering us clean towels, which left us wondering if it was a recurring issue at the hotel.

Be careful with this one.

I booked a Premium King room for an extra $70 per night. The Premium room was supposed to be bigger, have two windows and an updated bathroom. Long story short. None of the Premium rooms had all three of those features. Disappointing and misleading advertising.
