Remodeled. New carpet, fresh paint. Excellent breakfast buffet with some fresh, hot items. Excellent hotel, staff and a fantastic stay.

Recently renovated but the stench of an old smelly outdated hotel still remains no matter how much paint or new carpet there is. Sheets were rough and uncomfortable. Could only stomach to stay 1 night. Breakfast was terrible compared to similar hotels like Hampton Inn and Hyatt Place. Front desk was nice and friendly. Check in was fast.

We were not informed that The hotel was being remodeled and there was debris in the hallways that was never cleaned up! There was never any hot water and we had a very big group traveling and we travel quite often to this area. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone and we will not stay there again. Complaining to the hotel staff fell on deaf ears, incredibly disappointing!

Hotel was going thru tons of renovations during our stay. Front desk and breakfast staff were wonderful. Housekeeping however... first morning we were there they were beating on my door at 8am! I kindly told them I didn't need anything and thanked them. As I went to shut the door, the woman pushed it back open and stood for 5 minutes (with my door open) and told me they were bringing me a new towel. Don't mind that, just thought it was rude and unprofessional to knock on a guests door at 8am. I was still asleep. The next morning, I left to go down and grab breakfast in the lobby and was gone 5 minutes and the housekeeping staff had been in my room (I was checking out at 10am)! They had taken all the towels, moved all my makeup and jewelry around, and emptied my trash. I've never stayed anywhere where staff touched and moved my things around. Hotel was nice, was a little loud with the hammering and banging going on, but was nice and felt safe.

Upon arriving at the Wingate I was pleasantly pleased with the location and curb appeal, however upon entering the Hotel I was very disappointed. They were undergoing a renovation and we were not alerted to this prior to the confirmation of the Hotel. Although the Staff was very friendly, I was very disappointed with the cleaning staff. We stayed at the Wingate for 5 days, our trash was emptied, but everything else was left untouched. Towels were not replaced, the beds were not made and coffee/tea supplies were not replaced. The renovation process was very noisy and we ended up going to another floor just to get ice or drinks. Toward the end of my stay Staff members continued to knock on my door after I informed them that I was leaving out at check-out time. This could have been a better stay and I hope that once renovations are complete the staffmembers and the Wingate hotel executives play closer attention to guest service.

A nice hotel in a good position, yet still quiet. Good free car park but let down contractors vans and containers. Refurbishing happens, but on this scale customers should be well informed prior to completion of booking process. All taken into consideration, we had a good nights sleep in comfortable beds, followed by a good breakfast selection. TV was dissapointing for channel options and remote didn't work, and bath was a bit off putting, but I would stay again at a discounted price - I wouldn't use it for more than a journey stop over - certainly until the refurb is complete.

Good breakfast. Clean rooms. Beds are comfortable.

Overall it was great... didn't enjoy the breakfasts and the coffee wasn't that great but overall it was great.

Poor service and very dirty rooms, kids wanted to swim and even though the sign said pool was open till 10 the chain smoking front desk clerk closed it at 8. Would not recommend to anyone who is not a crack addict. Rooms at this hotel should be rented out by the hour.

This is a good deal and very friendly staff! Carpeting needs replaced but they are in process of replacing it.

Older hotel with a need to refurbish rooms. Staff was great and price was good but rooms are musty.

The lady at the front desk was extremely friendly. The room was clean with the exception of the bathroom. Things needed to be cleaned better and some things replaced. There was no view but the place was quiet.

This Hotel was OK for the weekend getaway. Room was clean but the bed was not so comfortable. The staff was nice. I would stay again.

My wife and I made a quick overnight stop in May. We really didn't stay long enough to comment on the amenities, but the room was clean and comfortable, staff were efficient, and the Hwy 280 location fine for our needs as overnight guests. We will try it again! Located in an office park at the SW corner of 280 and Meadow Brook (just West of the 119 intersection), it is behind Regions Bank and must be accessed from Meadow Brook. There's not really anything you can walk to, but for motorists, it's a location with much to offer.

Room AIr Conditioner was annoyingly loud-Especially since the bed was right next to it-Toilet had poor flushing-Big gray dustballs in corner by window-Had to call 3 times to get a wake up call, first 2 no answer- The only plus was the handicap ammenities-

The hotel was very nice along with the staff and breakfast.

The bed was flat, causing back pain the nxt day. Housekeeping were very hospitable. The ac had a mind of its own, wasn't putting out as much air as it needed to be on its coldest temperature.

The room had a musty smell and upon check in the lady at the desk was annoyed to help me because she was in the middle of eating. Other than that it was ok.

The hotel was nice and clean. Although it could stand a fresh coat of paint, the amenities were worth the stay. From the hot breakfast each morning to the plush pillows we slept on at night, this hotel provided a memorable visit to Birmingham. The great restaurant choices on Highway 280 made the hotel convenient as well.

Hotel did not meet my expectations. Rooms smelled of smoke and were not clean. Furniture in room was soiled, carpet stained & dresser was blistered from water damage. Front desk reminded me that this was an economy hotel and I could cancel my reservation. Non-refundable reservation of course. Front desk clerk let me know that hotel was being sold & no improvements were being made currently . So, what you see is what you get! I will never book with that hotel chain again.

I am sorry for your experience during your stay. I will be addressing Housekeeping on all your issues. Unless a DND (Do not Disturb) sign is on the guest door the room is to be cleaned just like a checked out room. I have just started here and this will be addressed immediately. Amy AGM

Dear sir/madam, I apologize for your stay experience at our hotel. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We will definitely work on improving. Sorry about pool hour confusion: it is actually open from 8am to 8pm. I have talked to front desk agent who was working that evening about her smoking habits and made sure it will not happen again. Please accept my apologies regarding that as well. We are getting ready for complete renovation so please give us another chance.
