Loved the view and sitting on the balcony would be wonderful in warmer weather. The location was great for the ferries, shops and restaurants. Disliked the missing toilet button cover, the missing shower drain cover, leaking washing machine, and lack of drinking glasses. The check-in instructions were incorrect and took nearly an hour lugging suitcases in the rain trying to find the entry. It was confusing and impossible to do so without a phone to get correct instructions and various codes

The only downside was the long check in process and having to pick the keys up from a different location! Once I finally got the keys and paid for further transport to the property, I was very impressed with everything! The apartment was clean and as described and in a wonderful location! Kitchen had all necessities and plenty of towels etc etc! Would recommend to anyone visiting Auckland!

The location is great for walking and cycling the downtown and waterfront. Many mornings we woke up to thousands of new neighbours, docked beside us on a cruise ship.

Waterfront people watching treat!

This was a very nicely appointed apartment, with 2 good bedrooms, both of which had the harbour view, which is a bonus!. The master had a good sized queen bed, and ensuite, whilst it was necessary to cross the corridor for the second bathroom (however, this was so the bedroom could have the view, so a reasonable compromise. There was plenty of comfortable seating, and dining both inside and out - we've been disappointed in the past to go to apartments which are theoretically for 4 with seating for only 2 or 3, so the fact that there were 3 full sized settees was very welcome news! Being right in the heart of the waterfront action was excellent, and having a view of the ferries etc was good for us - we love people watching.

The most difficult checking in process I have ever encountered in 40 years of world travel - calls from USA & key had to be collected from a different location. Unit had no air conditioning. Unit had no tea, coffee, sugar etc Used soap from previous guest was in the shower !!!!!!!!!!! Furnishing was below par

Avoid this place if you can

I booked this hotel via WOTIF but it is managed by Pelican Executive Suites. I booked a 2 bed 2 bath luxury apartment. Pelican require your flight numbers and arrival times in advance and you must provide 1 hours notice of wanting to check in so that their representative can meet you. despite adhering to all of their rules, there is no representative. You receive a long text telling you to find a key from a security office. The rom was 2 bed and 1 bath and old and tired. When we tried to take a shower, the shower overflowed as the drain was blocked with human hair and soap scum. I spent the next 3 days trying to get someone from Pelican to resolve the situation. They were hard to get hold of (never answering the phone) and did not ring back when they said they would. In the end they could not explain why they had put us in this apartment, they could not arrange for it to be cleaned and they could not move us to somewhere more suitable. After many emails they agreed to drop 1 nights charge and the $100 cleaning fee off my bill. I will not book with Pelican or this establishment ever again.

Great Location

Getting information on how to pick up the key was a little cloak and dagger. I recieved email instructions on the day we arrived in NZ, which was also our check-in date; if I didn't have internet access, it may have been more complicated. Picking up the key, however, was actually very easy, once we knew where to go. Our booking was supposed to have 2 twin beds in the second bedroom, but only had one queen. Luckily, there was a fold out couch in the living room, but unfortunately, no sheets. We recieved the sheets on our 3rd and final night staying there. We really enjoyed the location of the apartment, but unfortunately for us, there was major renovation work being done on the apartment below, so during the day there was alternating hammering and sawing, punctuated by periods of what I can only describe as pneumatic drilling; kind of upset the ambience. Further, as the workers had set up a tarpaulin tent on the deck outside to work in, we were kept awake most of the night (on 2 consectutive nights) by rain and wind causing the tent to flap and bang about. Nobody's fault, really, but did add to our frustrations. Ironically, the person on the fold out bed in the living room was far enough away from the noise to not be woken.

Not a pleasant experience

These apartments are all privately owned but the rentals are managed by an assortment of different managing agents. This particular one was managed by an agent based in USA. The buildings in the estate are all managed by the estate management organisation Princes Wharf Management who have an office on site but are not rental agents. The arrival procedure was not well organised with instructions provided, when I phoned the managing agents NZ representative, to meet the 'local manager' at the Princes Wharf office on arrival. This office were not aware of my booking. The keys were in the possession of the security guard who had been given them by the 'local manager' who described his position as the cleaning contractor. Not a good start, a representative of the owner should meet guests on arrival and show them the property. First impressions of the property, when I eventually found my way in, were not good. The bathroom, particularly the shower was mouldy and grubby. The kitchen work surfaces were worn and scratched. Only the lounge windows had been cleaned and those not very well. The general impression was that the apartment had been furnished for rental rather than maintained aa a luxury residence or holiday home. I expected a lot more for the price. My immediate complaint was met with an offer of complimentary cleaning. This would not address all the issues. This was supposed to be a relaxing three days in Auckland at the end of a long trip. I moved out the next day.

poor property maintenance

There was a lot of confusion in locating the apartment and a key holder. First impressions were good but we had asked, and had confirmation for an accessible bathroom, but it was not at all wheelchair friendly. Shower leaked making carpet wet and smelly. Outdoor furniture, some broken and unsteady. BBQ dirty from previous use. Some appliances broken and not working, light bulbs out

Perfect Location on Waterfront

It was exactly as advertised and was perfect location. Suite was generous size, great to have doors opening from living and bedrooms to balcony, great outdoor area to sit our during the day and into the evening. Would definitely stay here again. Our only reservation was there was additional fee for cleaning which was in very small print at bottom. Communication was great from the management of these suites, very friendly and helpful.

Watch out for the extra $100 cleaning bill added !

Great place to stay.difficult to find the correct parking. After receiving the bill there was an extra $100 cleaning bill. I have stayed in motels world wide and never had the extra charge, It is always included in the stay.not a sneaky extra after the fact !!

Great disappointment

We checked in an appartment which had nothing to do with the picture advertised. Whilst we liked the location once we settled in we found furniture broken or missing. Dirty walls and a moldy shower. Some furniture arrived whilst we were there some never arrived like an outside table. We received many standard emails from the US travel agents about what we were allowed to do and not to do but none was forthcoming to our complains. We emailed photos which showed all the shortcomings and can only hope the renovate this appartment before they let it out again. Will never deal with this company ever again but there are other good ones who rent out true luxury appartements in the same waterfront buildings as we learnt.

Great waterfront location

The apartment was great I would go back great facilities if staying for a longer trip. The only issue was that it was difficult to get the keys as there isn't a reception being private apartments it would have been difficult for people from out of town.

A great place in Auckland

The Waterfront Suites on the pier in Auckland are a great place to stay. Central, convenient and well apointed apartment on the water in Auckland Harbour. The suite had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining, laundry and parking for very comparable pricing with a hotel. The booking agency needs some up front paperwork and you need to be talking to the on-site agent to get into the complex but after that a great place to stay. Ideal if you were staying a little longer than a few nights but still great for a short stay.

Dont Stay Here.

Room was not as pictured or advertised. No a/c. No sofa bed. Much smaller than pictures. Broken and damaged furniture. Kitchen not clean and odd mismatched kitchen supplies. No way to make coffee. Fridge not cleaned and had open food from previous occupants. Carpet stained with what looked like large fresh spill. Beds very uncomfortable, poor mattresses. It looked like a personal residence possibly. There were glow in the dark children's stickers on bedroom ceiling. We were given a partial refund for one night and they allowed us to cancel rest of reservation so we moved out after one night. It was too late to find something else when we arrived. Not easy to connect with managers as no onsite office so it was very difficult to get responses. The location and views are fantastic. Another unit in complex may be good but we had no option of anything else.
