The staff , the restaurant, the room, the internet all were sub standard. The hotel was loud, the rooms smelt, the internet lasted 30 minutes without being able to reconnect for another 24 hours. The restaurant food was awful, Really cant find any thing nice to say
Stayed in the hotel for couple of nights, the room service was terrible and awful. For the dinner second night went to the gateway restaurant the service was awful. I ordered butter chicken and there was a insect in the dish I ordered. I said to the lady that was working there and she was arguing that it is coriander and she was speaking rude and didn't even apologise and said u have to pay either u eat or not. I highly don't recommend this hotel to anyone.
It was many years ago that I last stayed at this hotel. I was very impressed with the standard of the room which was tastefully decorated and very clean. As well as tea and coffee making facilities the room had a small microwave. We arrived late evening and departed at 7am in the morning. Shuttles to the airport depart hourly on the hour. We did not use the restaurant but the menu looked adequate! Staff pleasant and helpful. Excellent value for money, I will stay here again. Pricewise this is a budget hotel, but the rooms were better than budget.
We had a night booked in this hotel and after checking our room and the parking space we decided to not stay Front desk staff where unwelcoming Room had a very overpowering smell of dampness and the door did not lock properly. I have stayed in backpackers throughout the world that were cleaner than this place. We asked if there was secure parking to park our car this seemed a large inconvenience. Parking was unsafe so we decided it was not worth staying here as the standards seemed very low.
If you have late night or early morning flight or if you are landing late night at Auckland International Airport, one can choose this hotel as they have free pick and drop facility available for 24 hrs.. We checked in late night at around 2 AM, we just had to call them from airport. And we were picked from spot and had a smooth checked in process. Rooms were clean and spacious, service was excellent.Bedding were comfortable, washrooms and other facilities were decent enough. Pricing is on very reasonable side. Breakfast was very economical and decent in taste
Over booked the airport van. So I didn't miss my flight I sat on the ledge behind the front passenger seat, driver did not care and took to the road like a race car driver. Rooms were clean and plenty of room
There was no heating in our room but a small old portable heater which barely worked. The washroom had dozens and dozens of dead flies. Some flies were also found on the bed. Parking is very tight and ground is very uneven. Be careful with the front door as they do not lock properly and can swing open with some wind. Reception staff unwelcoming.
Ok for an overnight stay. Clearly an old establishment which has been renovated but in my opinion remains very basic and dated. Signage to the hotel was poor so we missed the entrance and had to go round the block before finding it. The current road works around the hotel made it that much more difficult
arrived at the gateway hotel to a crumbling and crowded entrance to a desk clerk who struggled with english, looked tired and disinterested, once we got to our room we found it to be comfortable and reasonably clean although the decor was very dated. unfortunately we went to there restaurant, the menu was printed in 1980 the food when it finally arrived was inedible absolutely disgusting and the service was unfriendly almost hostile. the decor of the restaurant was archaic and gaudy and falling apart like the entrance
We paid for an executive suite and it was well below the basic standard expected for a hotel's "best room". Although clean and tidy, many things were missing or not working in the room (e.g. No heating in living area, TV not working and no hairdryer). Staff were very unfriendly - hardly even made eye contact with us! Breakfast was also abysmal - basically cheap coffee, cornflakes and toast. Spreads were: jam or ... jam. They even had paper tablecloths! Very cheap. We felt sad that for some travellers arriving in NZ this hotel could be their first experience of NZ!! Not a good first impression at all.
