Sixt is one of only a handful of car rental companies that has roots going back over one hundred years. The company was set up in Germany in 1912. It initially had only three cars. Today, things have certainly changed for Sixt – it has roughly 4,000 stores in more than 105 different countries all across the world. Given its remarkable age and impressive size, it’s tough to find a car rental company with a more established reputation that Sixt. It’s a reliable choice to cover your vacation car rental needs. Search for Sixt rental cars on Orbitz and you’ll get to pick from the widest possible range of Sixt cars, as well as getting great deals that may not be available offline. Reserving your rental car in advance will also help take the stress out of arriving in your destination.
Reserving and collecting a Sixt rental car is totally hassle-free, but it’s still worth having the answers to a few simple questions before you begin.
While each country or US state does have slightly different rules, you will need to be 21 to rent a car from Sixt in most cases. Under 25? You might be unable to rent a luxury car, a truck, and some other vehicle types. You will also likely have to pay a daily surcharge.
Sixt branches in the US don’t impose upper age limits or ask for surcharges from older drivers, but branches in some locations abroad might.
Sixt has a good range of cars, although the selection will be slightly different in different locations. You will be able to choose from standard sedans, as well as two-door sports cars and convertibles. SUVs and vans are also available.
A simple, affordable choice would be something like the Toyota Yaris. Luxury convertibles on offer at your Sixt branch might include the Jaguar F-Type Convertible, or something along similar lines.
It goes without saying that you’ll need a valid driver’s license. A credit card is preferred for payments and deposit, although some Sixt locations will take debit cards with some additional documentation – ask the branch if this is an option.
If you’re planning to rent a car in a different country, you’ll have to show your passport to collect it. Some countries do also ask that US drivers have an international driving permit.
