Great For Travelling on a Budget

Great price for people travelling on a budget. You can tell cleanliness is a priorty in the rooms and shared kitchen area. Staff are friendly. There is a weekly schedule of which floor will get fully serviced. On other days, cleaning staff will ask if you need anything, i.e. clean towels, coffee, tea, etc. We really enjoyed having a fridge in the room and a coffee and tea service. Shared Kitchen is very well stocked with equipment for being able to cook and bake. Its quite spacious compared to other hostels. We had one twin bed that was very worn down and uncomfortable to sleep on but other was fine. We felt safe walling into the CBD. Walking the other way to Karangahape Rd had a lot of homeless and rough looking people. Would not feel safe walking there at night.

I booked for 4 days, checked out after 2 days and requested no refund. I'd rather sleep on the street. Upon checking in, I had to pay a $150 deposit in case of damage. Damage to what precisely I wonder? My room had the bed right by the door, no bedside furniture or power point easily accessible, and I could reach the handle of my door easier than the light switch. The faeces brown carpet was a mosaic of multiple pieces of equally worn patches, there was no table or chair, but a narrow counter with a badly stained high stool. The wall-mounted TV was loose so moving it in any way was a risk, on top of which the TV would not reliably give you access to any channel because of weak signal. This wasn't a hotel room, it was a prison cell dressed up to be more than what it was. Not only did I have to pay a $150 deposit, the establishment didn't understand their legal responsibility to provide me with an itemised receipt detailing the deposit, room charge, etc. It took 20 minutes to get this provided to me. Reluctantly I might add. This place felt more like a halfway house than a hotel. Stay away. I made multiple videos of my room, while making contemporaneous notes during my time there just in case there was fallout from this review. Horrible place.

Convenient to all central Auckland, room was standard but a bit Dusty toilet paper holder dirty and blinds , not a complaint tho . Staff friendly, good variety of information for visiting Auckland. Community kitchen facility was absolutely immaculate and a nice lounge area to swap books or meet people. Zero alcohol policy which is good, be aware of the $140 bond regardless of paying in advance which is standard policy. Would stay again

Unless you look on the city lodge official website you’ll get a big surprise when your asked to pay a 140$ deposit on top of your room cost , let alone no information about there being no onsite parking because it is closed for repairs.

Great short stay

For the quality,cleanliness and facilities within the room, the price is exceptionally competitive. I was pleased with the location. Close to cbd, k road, and ponsonby. The room isn't the biggest but everything is super clean. My only complaint, like most of the hotel guests, is that the tv service provided by Sky went off during my first day at the accommodation and didn't return before i checked out. The reception staff were friendly. Special shout out to Simran who tried valiantly to resolve the tv issues.
