If you’re considering renting a car in Auckland for the first time, you’ll no doubt have a few questions. We’ve answered some of them below.
The minimum age to rent a car in Auckland is usually 21 for most companies. There will also be a surcharge added for those aged 21 to 24. This is often referred to as a young driver surcharge. You may also need to have held your license for at least one year.
You will need a current valid driver’s license. The license must also be in English, so if your license is in a different language a translation or International Driver’s Permit will be asked for.
You only need to leave a deposit at the time of collection. Most companies require a credit card, although there are some which accept debit cards or cash bonds.
