Before you do anything else, check the bathroom for toilet paper! We realized we had none once we were in our room, we asked housekeeping who were still in the corridor for some and she handed us a 1/4 of a roll that she had left over on her trolley. It seems the communication and standards practiced in this hotel require improvement. After getting settled into our room we noticed there was an unusual amount of dust everywhere so we took photos and whilst on the train to Sylvia Park at around 11am we emailed the Mecure Auckland team asking if they wouldn't mind sending someone to the room to dust and vacuum it while we were out. Delightfully, within 20 minutes we received a reply from the Guest Relations Manager who apologised and advised that she had notified the Housekeeping Supervisor on our floor who would then look after our room. When we returned around 4pm nothing had changed. We emailed the Guest Relations Manager again this time with the photos attached for her reference. Over the next three days, even though housekeeping made the room up each day, the dust remained! On our second night we had booked a table at the Grand Mecure's 'Vue Restaurant' for 7pm. We went up 30 minutes early and enjoyed a few pre-dinner drinks from the bar. We could see the restaurant was busy as there was a large tour group being seated just before us. So once they were all seated and being attended to we went up and waited by the booking desk to be seated. The restaurant manager on duty came over to us and said "if you wouldn't mind taking a seat in the lounge area, I'll be with you in just a moment". We didn't have a problem with this as we could see they were busy. 5 minutes later a couple arrived and stood by the booking desk and then 3 minutes after them a group arrived and waited behind them. The restaurant manager then approached them and one after the other gave them the attention they required and seated them accordingly, it was now 7.20pm. Once finished he then returned to the booking desk and stood with his hands behind his back and surveyed the room. It was only then that he looked over in our direction and noticed my partner beckoning him over. As you can imagine, we were not impressed and asked him why he had just done that. He replied "I'm sorry, I didn't realise you had a booking, I can take you to your table now" we exclaimed that what he had just done was quite rude, he replied “would you like me to take you to your table?” If it hadn't been for the fact that we were quite hungry we’d have gone somewhere else. As it was, the meal was just about average. Oh yes, during our waiting period in the bar lounge, we had the misfortune - or possibly not, to witness on several occasions, room service meals being taken on trolleys into the lifts, completely uncovered! presumably for guests - whilst other hotel guests accompanied the staff member and food in the lift. Hopefully the food being delivered made it to its destination without anyone coughing or sneezing over it whilst on its journey.... On our last morning, we emailed the Guest Relations Manager once more, to pass on the feedback from our disappointing restaurant experience, the room service meals being uncovered and the fact that our room was still thick with dust. We once more received a timely reply with another apology and the advice that our comments were being passed on. In addition the response said that upon checkout "I have informed my team to call me at the checkout, I would love to speak with you". Needless to say, that didn't happen and we left the hotel very deflated with the opinion that we will not be returning there again. If, like us, you are Le Club Accor members you would certainly be disappointed in the service and standard at the Grand Mecure Auckland. Over the duration of this trip in Auckland we had the pleasure to visit and dine at "Lava Dining “at the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour Hotel and "Cooke's Restaurant" at the M Gallery by Sofitel - Grand Windsor Hotel. Both were exceptional in both the service and quality they provided. The lesson we have learnt is spend that little bit extra and stay at one of the other Upscale or Luxury Accor brand accommodations.

Walkable distance from cruise ship dock. Friendly staff, great location, very clean and modern. As our cruise ship reached in the morning, they let us store the luggage until the room is ready/check-in time. As our flight departed late in the evening, they let us store the luggage after our checkout. Close to princess wharf and shopping.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights in a Delux room on the 12th floor. I love this hotel! Location: perfect - within walking distance of all we wanted to see and do in Auckland, easy access to shops, bars, restaurents. Sky bus from the airport stops outside and there is room for taxis to pull up as well. Room: really nice decor and ambience Bed - super comfortable king and lovely linens Bathroom - fabulous shower (no bath) and a big range of toiletries - everything we needed and most importantly a decent hairdryer - hooray. TV - very good selection of channels. Not something that is usually important to me but we were there in a storm so stayed in the room for a few hours one afternoon. Technology - USB points by the bed were very handy for charging phones Bar on the 13th floor - nice setting and lovely service. Check in and out - it was busy at check in time but they recognised my Accor Plus membership and got us our requested room quickly and just before the 2pm check in time. Check out easy- hand the card over and out the door. Overall an excellent hotel and very pleasant stay - thanks Grand Mercure

After a 13-hour flight, a comfortable, accommodating hotel is essential. The Grand Mercure fits that description. Clean, comfortable, quiet room - centrally located near the harbor, excursions, restaurants, etc. The airport bus stop is about 50 feet from the front door. Couldn't be any more convenient. Very happy with everything.

The only way we could get Lions Tickets for the first test at Eden Park was to sign on to a tour group through All Blacks Tours. Having stayed here a few years earlier was a tad dubious about what we would receive in relation to the high price we had paid for this weekend. Was great to see that the hotel had been refurbished, the access and parking is still a nightmare for small town Kiwis, but in general the hotel is centrally located if you wish to be in the CBD. The staff are helpful, the view from the breakfast room is great, the breakfast is your standard hotel buffet. All in all an okay time

Only stayed one night and had a superior room facing city on the 11th floor and couldn’t fault anything, the hotel had clearly been fully renovated and it was so nice to see they didn’t leave the bathrooms out of the Reno ( as most hotels seem to do!!) the room and bathroom facilities were beautiful, spacious rooms and very comfortable too and loads of bathroom space. Some nice touches with the Nespresso coffee machine and free WiFi and robes and lots of towels and toiletries We had no noise at all during our stay from the street or from other rooms. We enjoyed an afternoon drink in the bar on the 13th floor and also managed a last minute booking for dinner there, we were seated at the window with amazing Harbour views( would have been better if it wasn’t torrential rain 🙁) the food in the restaurant was very nice but I have to raise fault with the service which was very poor, but really looked like they were simply understaffed and it wasn’t overly busy either!!, we are still waiting for the dessert menu to be brought to us that we asked for, so eventually gave up and left to visit ‘Mile’at Britomart which was amazing, shame the hotel lost out on our order!!. Breakfast was excellent with more hot food options than we had at any other hotel during our travels but the set up of the breakfast is really bad with the coffee machine right in the middle of what was already a small narrow area causing utter chaos, why not move the machine in where the toaster is, would make much more sense??. The hotel was fully booked so the extra people didn’t help this busy situation but I cannot fault the breakfast food quality and choice or clearing staff at all. Full marks also to reception and concierge for valet parking service and arranging umbrellas, nothing was too much trouble despite how busy it was. So in summary we had a great stay and would definitely make this our number one choice If returning to Auckland and would absolutely recommend to others. Just need to look at the dining room service and issues otherwise would have given full marks.

Our group composed of 5 families with young kids stayed in Grand Mercure upon arriving in Auckland after a long trip from HK. The reception could have been more hospitable given our big group with toddlers. The rooms were quite spacious but nothing spectacular. The location was good. It was within proximity to fastfoods & fine dining establishments. The key cards didn't work a couple of times which was so inconvenient.

The Grand Mercure Auckland is well located whether you are staying in Auckland for business or holiday. It is excellent if you are planning to board a cruise ship as most are only a short walk from the hotel. The King room higher floors provide a view of the harbour. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room what's modern and very clean.

I chose the hotel because of its location ( very central). Unfortunately, this was its downfall. It was week of the Rugby League final and Tonga lost. So the next 3 nights meant Tongans in the street outside the hotel making an incredible noise ( loud speakers for music, car horns blowing , cars and rowdy people waving flags and totally blocking Queen Street until 3 am. Front doors of the hotel had to be locked to keep crowds from taking over the lobby. I hadn't realised the Tongan team was staying in the hotel.. not much the staff could do. On the third night they moved me to a quieter sister hotel. If you want quiet at the very least get a room on the harbour side, not customs street. House keeping was mixed. on my arrival the maginfying mirror wan't working and it was fixed straight away Housekeeping was mixed. On my arrival, the magnifying mirror wasn't working and it was fixed straight away. The tea and sugar weren't replenished every day but a call to housekeeping was met with a prompt response. At breakfast the first day, the restaurant couldn't cope with the fact there were 2 large tour groups. They ran out of everything and I had to ask for replenishing. I asked if they could please replenish the muffins and one was personally delivered to my table. Coffee is a self-serve machine in in the middle of the buffet area, which is tight enough without the extra line up of people trying to make their own coffee. I would suggest moving it out of this area. Staff were always very obliging and helpful with requests
