I booked and prepaid for a room, which was dodgy at best, but on arrival a cash bond of $100 was demanded. Nothing to indicate bond required at the time of the booking. Internet is available at a very inflated price. Room was adequate, but just barely. No, avoid this place, right out of the Dukes of Hazard, if you catch my drift, a lot of unsavory characters about when I checked out. I got my cash bond back, but was told if I put it on a credit card there would be an additional surcharge, and refund in 10 to 15 days, I felt like I’m a foreign traveler so I might never see my money back. Beware. Sleep in your car before you stay here.
Checked in at 19.00 and felt like the start of a prison sentence. Double room was $140 - the most expensive since arriving in NZ 6 weeks ago. State of the room was tired. Bed cover covered in catches, towels had seen better days and cutlery & crockery were on ration. Charged $10 for 1gb of Wi-fi for one device. If you logged another device you got only 12 hours from first log on. Frankly a rip off. We would drive another hour rather than stay here again!
For the first time ever I am not sure what to say here. The plus side to this place is locality but not much around. Petrol stations, liquor shops, fast food and small restaurants are close by. Downside, just don't stay here. Everything is about how the site can charge fir extras and deliver so little. Deposits when booking, extras deposits on the rooms when you arrive, wifi charge at $6 per hour, empty your own rubbish after an over night stay in the motels or lose your deposit. No air conditioning, ......... read the reviews, they are not wrong.
We had a 'studio unit' for a night. It was clean and tidy with all the necessary requirements for us. It was dated but fine for our purpose which was a clean bed and shower before leaving early next morning. The staff were more than helpful and very pleased to be so. I don't agree with these other comments at all and I'm sorry to see that some people have higher expectations perhaps?
This place was disgusting and I didnt walk on the carpet without shoes. Very old and tired and soooo noisy.......people waking us at 1 , 2 and 3 am 😣 Was reasonably cheap but I wouldnt even pay $1 to stay here again. Plus you have to pay $100 bond which is in the small print that we missed.!!
The place was just pathetic. A small round piece of soap and a tiny package of conditionor, not shampoo just conditionor. There was two dust pans, one in the kitchen then one in the bathroom but only one rubbish bin in the kitchen; I'm glad I didnt have my period when I was there. Then there was the bathmat that had a hole in it, not decent motel would give a guest a bathmat with a hole no matter how small the hole is. There was a small tv with barely any channels and the hairdryer was in the bedroom where I would have put it in the bathroom. If we had wanted any guests one of us would have missed out on a cup or a plate because there were only two of each dish and already two of us. The elements didnt even say which way was high or low and the light to tell us that an element was on was barely working. Next there was their kart to pick up the dirty linen from rooms was so loud, it sounded like a lawnmower and they used it early in the morning and always woke us up when we wanted to sleep in. Overall it was just horrible, do not go here unless you want to waste your money.
Without doubt this is the worst site we have ever stayed at. Because of the traffic, the lateness of the hour, and fatigue, we needed somewhere quickly, and sadly booked one night in this dump. Was put onto a powered site next to a load of caravans that were seemingly held together with gaffer tape, and had permanent residents! Very noisy until small hours, and people leaving early for work from 6am. So pleased to get away from there. Showers and facilities a disgrace as well. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST.
We booked in for a powered site and got given the most dreadful site amongst 2 run down caravans, we asked to be moved which they happily did and we set up the tent. Within 5 minutes the permanent residents around us starting arguing with each other with no respect to other campers. We went off and did our thing for the night arriving back about 11.30 to permanent residents partying right behind our tent. The noise was extremely loud and it didn't seem like it was going to end anytime soon. We did not feel safe at all, after and hour or so we decided to pack up and leave. We have never experienced anything like this and never want to again. This place is very rundown, shabby and we felt some of the residents were ruling the roost and not the managers. I would not recommend this place to anyone that is wanting a nice place to relax in a tranquil and peaceful surrounding.
Booked the room through an external provider, read all the details and conditions. When I checked in they charged me for the nights stay and a $100 bond! I knew nothing about this, and I showed the rude receptionist the website I booked through and showed him that there was no mention of a bond. He said I must pay it and they would refund it on my check out and after a room inspection -and only if I keep my receipt. The refund can take up to working 5 days. WHAT A JOKE. There was no soap in my room, there was tea and coffee but no milk. Room was so hot and stuffy - no fans. Bunk beds squeaked every time someone moved. This is not a traditional “kiwi” holiday park. In fact there is nothing kiwi about it. I would not stay here again
I hadn't read any reviews before booking but as our stay neared, my husband checked TripAdvisor. The feedback was appalling; unfortunately by that time, cancellation had become non-refundable and we didn't want to lose our $230. Our concerns were quickly allayed. The reception area was clean and spacious. Check-in went smoothly. We were directed to our two-room apartment and were very pleasantly surprised with its cleanliness. It was ideal for our family of five with a double bed in one room (with TV), two sets of bunks in another room, and one set of bunks in the lounge (with another TV). Kitchen was well appointed and the parking was great. It was nice to have an ensuite to avoid sharing communal facilities. The kids enjoyed the small indoor pool (for a short time as it is not heated). And the grounds appeared well-kept.
