The words that spring to mind are 'opportunity lost'.
This hotel has great things such as the downstairs café and bar, three other restaurants and a beautiful ambience. However, the room is one that seems to be set up more for the benefit of the hotel (i.e. money saving) than its guests.
Examples of this include a hard non-carpet floor. It was cold and slippery but easier to clean. No mini bar to refill or check. Only very old instant coffee and tea - cheap stuff. No bar of soap. Liquid soap is cheaper. Air conditioning that did not work.
The room had been nicely renovated, the bed was super comfortable and the TV had a good range of channels. Then to distract from these good things stuff-ups like the TV was at 90 degrees to the bed (something I have never seen) and there was no work desk (in a hotel in a CDB location).
It look liked two different designers had been used. One that did great things and the other to save the hotel money.
