I had a reservation for three nights. I arrived around 4pm and my room wasn't ready, even though the check in time was 3pm. They gave me a complimentary bottle of water for my trouble. When my room was ready, I went up there to drop off my bags. I was in the room for a total of twenty minutes before I went downstairs to tell the front desk representative that I couldn't stay there. The room was VERY dirty. I can tolerate a lot; I've stayed in a lot of questionable hotels all over the world, but this was possibly the worst. There was a long, crusty stain on the wall from the ceiling to the bed. The bed was made, but once I pulled the comforter off, there was an array of hairs and stains. The floor was dirty. The corners of the room had piles of dust and grime. The closet was stained, dirty, and not actually big enough to hang anything in. The bathroom light did not work... it was pretty awful.
After standing in the room debating what to do (because I wouldn't sit down), I determined that I couldn't stay here. I couldn't risk getting sick or bedbugs or fleas....I am way too busy for that. I walked downstairs, told them I couldn't stay there due to how dirty the room was. I asked for a partial refund, I acknowledged that I had reserved the room, but now they could rent it out for the other nights. They refused. They also did not refund me the city taxes that I paid right before I went up to the room.
