Hotel Cornelisz3.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is in a good location and walking distance to the heart of Amsterdam. Clean room and friendly service. Parking available on the street or close by although pricey which is a city wide issue.
Overall, very nice rooms comfortable with nice beds, perfect for the price. The breakfast is quite good, eggs, pastries, fresh juices and more. I would've given 5 stars, but we had to change rooms, because of an electricity generator was in front of our room, nearby a house remodelling. The second room was perfect!
NEVER in my life have I encountered a front desk employee as nasty, rude, snarky, and insensitive as the woman at the front desk of Hotel Cornelisz. I wish I had gotten this woman’s name as I would gladly share it here out of utter disgust for the way she treated my mother and me on the afternoon of Christmas Day 2017. I was severely ill and was in need of a restroom ASAP — upon finding this hotel my mother and I ran into the lobby, past the front desk, and down a flight of stairs towards a restroom that was in no way marked as “for guests only.” I will also note that we did not stop to ask at the front desk if we could use the restroom, NOT because we are rude, but because 1. It was legitimately an emergency that I get to a restroom and 2. The woman at the front desk was busy conversing with someone else. As we were walking back up the stairs to the lobby this employee condescendingly stops us, questions my mother and me, talking down to us and treating us like trash, demanding that we pay one euro each for using the restroom since we are not guests of the hotel. She also accused us of being rude, despite the fact that we desperately tried explaining how sick I was, and she merely shrugged her shoulders with a careless, compassion-less, snarky expression on her face and claimed we could have waited in line before using the bathroom. Regardless of the fact that it was Christmas Day, I was violently ill, and that my mother and I — had we been approached kindly wouldn’t have minded paying this strange but I suppose reasonable amount — it was the manner in which this awful woman treated us that has left such a negative impression on my first trip to Amsterdam. I have never before been treated with such a blatant lack of empathy, kindness, compassion, or respect by another human being, and I can say with certainty that I will never forget this encounter and how humiliating this employee made me feel. I apologize for the length of this post but if you value decent human kindness and respect then I urge you to stay elsewhere while in Amsterdam or this will undoubtedly ruin your experience of an otherwise beautiful city. I have many friends who travel to Amsterdam and I am urging them to avoid Hotel Cornelisz, and they have already begun rightfully spreading the word. Hotel Cornelisz, I urge you to rethink your definitions of both “customer service” and “human decency” and proceed accordingly with the rest of your horrid staff.
It's a medium size hotel few steps away from the Rijsk Museum and the Museumplein. The location is great and the city centre is at walk distance. The hotel itself has been partially refurbished recently even if the carpet is still the one of the old hotel (RR). I got a single room at the top floor (5th) and I must say it was super small (9sqm including the toilet) but still fine for a short stay (1-2 nights). The double rooms are bigger, I guess. The breakfast was fine and complete. I liked a lot the common room at first floor for relaxing and having a coffee and the terrace, on the same floor. Overall, considering the offer and the price of Amsterdam, this was a good deal.
We took a chance and booked this hotel on the internet and are so glad we did. Ideal location with bus and tram stops literally outside. Right beside Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum etc... and all the 'designer shops' in the next street. Within walking distance of loads of attractions. The rooms were smallish but big enough to do the job, very clean and comfortable with lovely polite and helpful staff. Very good value and would recommend, will be back.
This was my second time in this hotel and I can recommend it. It’s a small hotel but ample for your needs for a sort city break. Rooms are small but adequate for your needs. Hairdryer, kettle, etc in room. Breakfast is good and there is a lounge on the first floor. Staff are very helpful. And the hotel is situated in the museum quarter with airport bus just outside, trams also close by.
Extremely nice quaint hotel located near upmarket shopping but within easy walking distance of the centre and accessible transport links, for the price and quality of the hotel you cannot go wrong, would definitely stay here again
Nice clean hotel. The rooms are not that big but does the job. The bathroom is also clean and nice. The breakfest is ok with a few options of the necessary. No minibar in the room. The staff are friendly and gave us tips on what to see. They also sell tickets for the public transports. The location was actually great - it’s not in the center, but there is a tram stop 100 m away and the trams 2 and 5 go all the time to the train station. Close by is the museum plan with lots of museums like the Rijksmuseum. Using the bus from the hotel to Schiphol airport was easy, cost 5€/pers. In the end - I could use this hotel again.
We stayed in Hotel Cornelisz for a week-end. Everything was ok the room and the bathroom were clean w nice, the bed confortable. The hotel is near the Rijksmuseum and 5 min walking from wondelpark. We were really satisfied and specially with the price.
Amsterdam is an expensive city, but we found the Hotel Cornelisz to be very good value for money because of its location. The presence of a small but perfectly appointed lounge just above street level was also something we appreciated - the city is crowded at weekends, and the ability to have a nice table at which we could eat our own snacks and drink wine and taste cheese we'd bought was a clever and generous touch to the weekend. The hotel rooms were somewhat small, although totally adequate, but had good height, so they didn't feel cramped. Staff were among the best I've encountered in a year in the Netherlands - professional but warm, and ready to help with anything. We really appreciated that the hearty breakfast was served early enough to accommodate a 7.45am train at Centraal Station. Overall, this hotel offers a few uncommon touches that genuinely add to the Amsterdam experience.
