Standard crap Amsterdam hotel. Ridiculously expensive for what it is, and the only plus is the location. Rooms are cramped and tiny, they’ve clearly walked off bigger rooms to create tiny ones, but that’s the done thing in Amsterdam. Shared toilets and showers, relatively clean, so don’t expect any peace or quiet on any level, but do expect the strong smell of cigarettes and weed.

Upon arrival at Hotel Continental, I discovered that the deposit I had made (£71.74) was not being deducted from my account but instead was being held as a separate payment. The hotel representative informed me that a deposit was not required, but they provided me with a receipt indicating that my deposit would be refunded to my account upon payment of the full amount of our stay. Regrettably, two weeks have passed since our arrival, and the refund has not yet been credited to my account, which is quite disappointing.

I had the double with private bathroom. Fourth floor via very steep and narrow stairs. The furniture and curtains looked really run down. Had clean sheets and running hot water. If you just need bare basics and a central location, and 100 pounds a night to throw away, this place is for you.
