Great place to stay

Unexpectedly poor reception service and even worse concierge. The cleaning lady left my room door ajar…. Items went missing, they never found them. My express one day laundry took 4 days and I got it after insisting for them to deliver it before I leave the country. Got the explanation that they “tried” but there was a Do not Disturb on the door for 4 days which was straight up lie as I never used the sign..but the worse part they gave me the wrong room on the ground floor with a window that opens to a dingy courtyard..while I have prepaid weeks ahead for executive room on the 3rd floor overlooking the canal and even my luggage was tagged accordingly…when I said this is not the room I booked and not the number on the luggage they said no this is the only room we have left…had to go back to reception and insist I get the room I prepaid for and that my tag shows..all of a sudden my room turned out available despite of the previous lie that they have no more rooms but the ground floor dungeon. Room service “didn’t have enough cash” to give me my cash back for the dinner I ordered and told me to check with the bar the next morning. Naturally the bar didn’t know what i was talking about the next morning.. the only positive was ordering taxi this morning thru the luggage concierge this morning who was on top of his game. I travel every 2 weeks to Amsterdam on business with my team. We stay at 5* hotels only. This one is not even close and we will be excluding it from our corp list.

loved the property. there scouting for a future tour I conduct. will by-pass this hotel, service in the restaurant was non-existent. constantly requesting service, eventually tired, was upset and left after discussing with the man at front desk. he was full of excuses and as I was leaving turned back, his glare was palpable.

There were constructions in the hotel ,early in the morning, disturbing our sleep. Late room cleaning.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Location amazing.

A nice older hotel, but without air condition it is difficult to regulate room temperature.

Grand old europe style hotel, but not great value at summer price point. Would rate higher if it had air conditioning

Great historical site - enjoyed the tour of the hotel on Saturday

Location was excellent. Room was not cleaned very well. Did no fix squeaking bathroom door as requested. TV did not work on second day. Front desk and office staff very accomodating. However I would still recommend this hotel as location was great and rook was fine.

Hotel is beautiful and historic. Unfortunately it’s undergoing construction and 2/3 of the building is covered on the exterior blocking all room views. Staff nor Orbitz mad any indication of such construction however. The point of booking this particular hotel over others is the location and view, only one of which was satisfied. Decent place to stay, but feel let down for sure.

This had everything a hotel could offer. It was by far one of the best places we have stayed with ammenities such as free mini bar, the amazing spa area. The bath robes and slippers and complimentary umbrellas added an extra touch. The staff and the location was great as well.

Great hotel... great experience! Staff was helpful, courteous, and pleasant. Room was gorgeous! Location was great with easy walking distance to Amsterdam Centraal station. Can’t say enough about our wonderful stay!

A great experience. The staff was warm and welcoming. The facilities were top notch. The only small issue was the hot tub was not very hot and couldn’t seem to be adjusted, but the multiple saunas, steam room, and amazing pool easily covered for this one small issue.

Dear esteemed guest, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us here at the Grand Hotel Amsterdam. We are pleased to learn that the historical charm of our monumental building was to your liking, although I regret to hear that you were not comfortable with the temperature in your room. Because our hotel is located in a monumental building we are unfortunately not allowed by the government to make great evasive changes such as installing a central airconditioning system. What we do have is a climate control system which circulates and refreshes the air but does not cool it. In the case that our guests experience discomfort because of the temperature in their room, we offer standing fans upon request. I hope that despite this the remainder of your stay with us was pleasant and we hope to be able to welcome you back again! Kind regards, Marcel Bosman General Manager
