Room was big and clean but a little dated. Good choice of TV channels and great hotel location near the beach. Food in the restaurant was great but service especially for drinks was slow. Reception staff were lovely. Would definitely come back.
I purchased a Groupon afternoon tea package as a special treat for my mum. I made the reservation online two days before the date required. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time to be told we must be in the wrong Hilton as they had no reservation booked. Offered my confirmation email but told no need, could we wait 15 minutes for the kitchen to make one? Yes, that would be alright we said. No apology was offered but as it was a treat for my mum I let the poor service go. 10 minutes later our soft drinks came. After an hour waiting and several minutes being ignored, I queried when our afternoon tea would be ready. Amazingly at that moment it was ready, another 5 minutes for tea but finally we had it. At no point where we offered an apology. We had to get to an appointment, so rather than relax over the experience leisurely, we had to rush. No one was available when we left, so no cookies or last minute apology for the poor experience. Overall the service was very poor, the bread on the sandwiches was a bit stale, the plates should have been cleaner but the highlight was the scones, they where lovely. Would definitely not recommend for a special treat, actually I don't recommend it at all.
Location is reasonably good for access to Aberdeen centre, although there is not much to do in Aberdeen town centre now. It is a fair walk into town, especially if its windy & wet. Hotel is quite nice inside, but they do have one problem if you happen to be on the ground floor, in the Platinum area (Platinum area sounds very upmarket, but as far as I can see this is just another name for "Annex"). The problem is that they insist on holding the fire doors between the kitchen and the bedroom's corridor, open (and this is perfectly safe, as the doors are on magnetic latches which will be released on detection of fire) but it does allow all the nasty cooking smells to fill the ground floor corridor, and this comes into the bedrooms. If you want to smell like you have slept on a kitchen floor, then chose one of these rooms! Staff were helpful, and service in the bar good (although prices were a bit steep).
Visited Double Tree when there was a conference in town so it was very busy. This is a nice hotel in a nice location situated just off the Beach Promenade - a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Great welcome by reception - the warm cookie is a nice touch! They have a range of rooms to suit a range of pockets. The room we had was very nice and worth the money we paid. The central area just off reception is taken up with a bar and was very busy most of the time we were in the hotel. Breakfast was self service and as good as any I have had in hotels. Staff extremely pleasant and accommodating in all areas of the hotel. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - really nice menu - very reasonably priced and good food to boot. Scored it 4/5 only because the communal areas (corridors etc..) looked a tad tired. Loads of evidence of suitcases or similar being hit against them. Nothing a handyman and a pot of paint can't sort out I would suggest. Would I stay again? Most definitely. Well done - this is one hotel that knows what they are doing.
Had booked 1 night as part of honeymoon, having stayed here previously and liked it. This time hotel was full and we were allocated a room without an outside window. Our window looked onto reception and lounge area and was dull and dingy, with very poor natural light. Room was very basic, have had a nicer room at a Travelodge and paid a lot less!! Would not come back here.
The staff members at the hotel are very friendly and always willing to help you. Rooms and common areas are very clean. The welcome cookie was a super plus! The breakfast was tasty, with quite some nice options
I stayed here for 1 night on Sat 1th June in a King Premier room. We arrived very early and I just went to ask at reception if I could leave my car in the carpark till I checked in, I was told my room was ready and I could check in immediately. Our room was great, on the ground floor. The bed was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed, hairdryer, plenty hanging space, kettle and a fab bathroom. After a great sleep we enjoyed a buffet breakfast. We had lots of choices and had coffee served by our friendly waiter. Brilliant location by the beach and its amenities. We will be back.
Been staying in hotels in Aberdeen and this is probably the best. Unfortunately Aberdeen is plagued by sub -standard hotels full of spaced out workers but this is different. Quality is better than the rest and this shows from point of Reception to quality of rooms. Mine was warm, clean and quiet which is what I look for. It is approximately 10 minutes from city but just a few minutes to water-front. Local shops nearby such as Asda etc. I would opt to stay again
First time we've stayed at any Hilton and definitely won't be our last. We got in late at night and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, then in the morning we enjoyed a great breakfast and was helped by a young man called Kieran, who showed us to our table and asked if we needed anything. He seemed to genuinely enjoy his job and chatting to us, it was great to start the day off with a smile. He even suggested a few things we could get up to in Aberdeen while we were there. Check out was quick and simple, and we're looking forward to staying again soon!
the hotel requires a refurbishment in the foyer and dining areas. Food not outstanding but ok. Verbaly abused by three drunks and threatened by one of them who was going to hit me. I am 75 he was mid 40's. Called me an English basterd even though .%50 Irish and 50% Scot. The language in the hotel is absoluty disgracefull. I had my trhee children with me and I would not allow either my daughter or wife to leave the hotel without one of my sons acompioned them. This is the 3rd time I have stayed at THIS HOTEL BUT NEVER AGAIN. Please don't stay at this hotel if you want peace of mind.
