Flights Review

Jul 27, 2019

My dad is dying. I made the reservation a few months prior to the flight, when he was in relatively good health, for a 90 year old. In the meantime, a few weeks ago, he fell and is really deteriorating quickly. I called Alaska Airlines two days before my flight to see if I could change my ticket to come even one day earlier and I was not allowed to change it. Last year I had the same problem with my mom, but I was using American Airlines. They were so kind and compassionate and allowed me to change my ticket. In her case, I arrived in the morning and she died that night, I barely made it in time. I wish Alaska Airlines would make exceptions for death and dying, regardless of the ticket (or insurance) passengers purchase. I would even be able to send documentation of my dad’s health from the hospital to prove his health situation. Anyway, if anyone actually reads this, I hope you might change your policy. My dad is still alive but next time I come to Seattle, I’ll probably go with American because they were flexible with my situation. Thanks.
