Property has recently been renovated, room was very nice, clean. Bed was comfortable. You do hear noise from road but it is expected from location. Location was good. And Mel’s diner over the road is good for breakfast

Great hotel, great neighborhood.

I was very surprised at how nice the hotel was. We stayed in a two queen bed room on the third floor. We were only there for one night, but what really made this a great stay was the location and the parking. San Francisco can be expensive and tough to find parking and the cow hollow and has a parking garage under the hotel at no cost. The neighborhood was very nice and clean, and there were lots and lots of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. within walking distance. It was also a short walkto the marina. My husband and son had a 10 minute drive to the Presidio golf course and I walked along the paved trail from the marina to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was lovely. The hotel itself is a little older, but the room was remodeled, the beds very comfortable, and quite spacious.

Problem w/ booking

I had booked a room w/ 2 double beds but was given a room w/ a single King bed. I had 3 in my party. I was not able to swap the room out because there was no vacancy. The hotel said it was an issue w/ Hotels.com overbooking the type of room. The resolution was to give us a roll-in 2nd single bed.

Good basic hotel. Two reasons for 4 vs 5 star review: when we checked in there was no water service. Hotel is under renovation so that is understandable. However, at a minimum the hotel should have left a few water bottles in the room which they didn’t. Second reason is that at check in we were asked if we wanted housekeeping during our stay. We said yes but it was never done. We would have liked the garbage to be emptied and the coffee service replaced at a bare minimum. Otherwise hotel is good - well located with an easy walk to the Marina District. Lots of restaurants and shopping around. Parking provided though we didn’t need it. One final comment. The hot water is hot. Dangerously so. It should be turned down a notch for safety especially if there are kids in the room.

This hotel is centrally located in Cow Hollow just around the corner to Chestnut Street with loads of shopping and dining options. It might get a little street noise from the activity close by. The rooms are nicely furnished, beds very comfortable perfect for a lovely stay.

Great Stay, But Overwhelming Chemical Smell

Overall a good stay with a few caveats. The location felt very safe and was conveniently close to lots of restaurants and shops. A major highlight was the free gated parking garage—secure, spacious, and with in-and-out privileges, which made things super easy. The room itself (a standard non-suite king) was clean, spacious, and nicely renovated. However, the second floor—where we stayed—had an incredibly strong chemical/new carpet smell that was overpowering throughout the hallway and our room. It was intense enough to wake me up and made it hard to sleep our first night. After leaving the window open all day and blasting the A/C, it got a bit better by the second night, but the smell never fully went away and was still very unpleasant. I’d definitely consider staying here again if visiting the area, but I really hope they find a way to ventilate or treat that strong smell—it took away from an otherwise great experience.

I have been staying here for over 20 years on my annual trips to San Francisco. The Inn is very convenient, close to shops and restaurants on Chestnut Street. The parking is a plus too. The Inn has been renovating rooms and they are very nice and was much needed. Highly recommend this property.
