We don’t even know where to start. Our stay at Hotel Kanra was one of the highlights of our trip. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, the staff actually could not be more helpful even if they tried and the hotel is conveniently located next to the metro station as well as this beautiful huge temple. Our room itself gave us the traditional energy we wanted out of our Kyoto experience while still providing the cushy luxuries we enjoy on vacation. Could not recommend here more and will be recommending friends and family to stay here on their next visit to Kyoto!

This was an excellent hotel. The Japanese style of the rooms was beautiful. Probably the best hotel room of our 2-week stay in Japan. The staff was very helpful and attentive, especially T. Horii, who helped us book bus tickets to another destination. It was centrally located near the train station. Our favourite hotel of our trip to Japan.

The staff were extremely helpful and gave us a great map of the area, walked us through the subway systems to use and suggested numerous places to visit. Room is very unique from the entrance to the wooden bath tub. A great hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at Hotel Kanra Kyoto was absolutely wonderful. Our room was beautiful, with a serene design that blended modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches — the highlight was the stunning cypress tub, which made every evening feel like a private spa experience. The staff were incredible: warm, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their kindness and professionalism truly made us feel at home. Breakfast was included with our stay, and it exceeded every expectation. The variety was incredible, everything was cooked to perfection, and the presentation made it feel like a special dining experience each morning. Hotel Kanra Kyoto was one of the highlights of our time in Kyoto — I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and memorable stay.

Simple, comfortable, and incredibly professional

Room was great, felt traditional but very spacious and comfortable. The bath tub in the room was great for soaking after a long day. Hotel staff was super friendly and professional. Didn’t take advantage of the spa service or breakfast but if it’s anything lile the rest of the hotel it’s great. Each floor has wooden gates around your room that really provide a serene and cozy atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay here. Rooms were very spacious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed the complimentary drinks. Only drawback for us was how loud the road noise was at night. We were in the main building on the 4th floor which faced the main road so if you are sounds sensitive, i would suggest you let them know when booking. Otherwise this hotel was great.

The hotel was incredible, typical Japanese style, which is what attracted us to this property. The rooms were amazing and included a Japanese bamboo bathtub. The hotel always smelled delicious, the decoration inside was so Japanese-style. And the staff was very friendly, on the first day when we arrived all sweaty from the heat, they offered us some delicious cold tea. Definitely would return here in Kyoto.
