First, the lady at the front desk was fantastic, she was very nice and was able to find someone to come and actually clean our room after we had checked in and discovered it hadn’t been cleaned. I walked in to 3 bags of garbage by the door and several used qtips lying in the floor. There was hair all over the sink and it was generally gross. I wanted to like this place bc it was a bit of a departure from the usual chain holiday inns/hamptons we usually stay in, primarily because my 4 small kids haven’t ever stayed in a “motel” like I did when I was a kid and I wanted them to experience that. That being said, this place was a bit of a dump. One of the toilets wouldn’t flush all the way and one of the showers would not drain (it was ankle high in the tub after 3-4 mins) and the tub looked like it was installed in the 80’s. There were several holes in various places on the walls (prior unpatched holes from whatever was mounted there previously, not a “watch you while you sleep then kill you” kind of thing), trim boards were unattached, wall panels were bowed and coming off, and it looked like hadn’t ever been dusted. There were also large (>6’) water spots on the ceiling that had just been painted/popcorned over. There is a difference between “rustic but nice” and “this restoration was done using the cheapest materials we could find to just put over whatever was there before”. This place could be a gem if done right, which it certainly wasn’t. Disappointed :/

The room was clean and comfortable enough. We found out late that our TV wasn’t working. The walls are thin and could hear the person next door until midnight. The road noise is very loud.

The spring bed was a bit squeaky, but the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. It had a very homely feel.

The food is fantastic. Our waitress sucked. We had 8 people in our party spending $50+ each on food and drinks. The service was just non existent. She took our order, brought the first round of drinks, food servers brought our food (not the waitress). She came to the table once about 10 min after food arrived while we were recording our young adults singing with the entertainment and never came back until she was summoned by the bus boy. Thirty minutes after the food delivery guys brought our food, she refilled drinks one time, replaced the mac n cheese (it was cold, undercooked and no better than velveeta), brought the steak sauce and failed to bring the rolls i asked for. Had she been attentive and replaced the mac n cheese right away, i wouldnt have said anything about the food. The rest was fantastic. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and i will go back, i will just make it very clear to my waitress that i expect the service to impress me as much as the food. We sampled a flight of beers, which I highly suggest. Each one was really good. Most of us had adult beverages. One of us had Salmon, it was the biggest most beautiful piece of salmon ive seen at a steak house. We had Ribeyes and Prime Rib... very high on the list of best steaks Ive had. The rolls are delicious and they have really good ranch dressing.
