great place to stay, Check in was a bit of a problem as i did not get a crucial email telling me the lock box key code. I arrived late and was just lucky to have someone who lived there helped me. Was not aware i needed a lock box key as normally I did not arrive late and always someone was there. Other then this the place is great and ocean front. my kids said the king side bed not in masters was hard. maybe consider a mattress topper. Franchesca was amazing. she looks after your needs and trouble shoots the building. ocean is right out side your patio door. Nice site and pool and grounds. i will stay again.

Completely adorable

When the listing says it is steps from the water, it really means it steps from the water. There is fair snorkeling when the water is not too rough. We saw flounder, octopus, and rays. Of course, the lagoon is a two minute walk. The apartment was cuter in person than it was online. It’s basically several cottages and an apartment building clustered around a pool. There was a place for a rental car, and pretty decent Costco and pier one imports stocked kitchen implements. We will definitely keep this place in mind for a repeat trip.

Amazing stay

Pictures were completely in-line with the beauty of the property and location. We had an amazing time. Condo was quiet and well-maintained. Location was great, easy access to beach and snorkeling. Would definitely recommend for families.

A clean, quiet and safe condo within steps of the ocean

We had a wonderful stay! The views are incredible. The area was quite and we felt safe. Each evening a security person was stationed in the area and the pleasant groundskeeper and cleaning staff were close by during the day. The facility next door did have a party the last 2 nights, but it seemed to be a large family event. Their voices do carry over but we closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning and never noticed them again. We would definitely go back. Paul was very responsive! Loved the snorkeling and watching for rays and birds. There was even a turtle sighting! Perfect location! Eat at The Turtle Bay Cafe! Excellent!

Condo lovely, Akumal itself not for us

No problems with the condo itself. It was really clean and the housekeeping service was fantastic. Great water delivery whenever needed. Great air conditioning which cools the condo quickly – we rarely needed it as open windows allowed for a nice breeze. Comfortable beds. Lovely gardens and good ground maintenance. Easy parking. Only condo issue for us was the really low water pressure in the ensuite. We managed by sharing the other shower, which has great pressure. Location pros include: proximity to the lagoon; and easy snorkelling right out front. It is ~25 minute walk to the arches (restaurants, "corner" stores, etc.). We were glad to have a car to explore the pueblo and surrounding area, and to drive to a proper grocery store (in Puerto Adventuras or Tulum). Location cons were that while the condo complex itself is very quiet, it is definitely not a quiet area due entirely to the neighbouring property Villa Bellamar. According to the property management company, Bellamar is rented as a party house – weddings, group vacations, etc. We had five nights out of fourteen with very little sleep – loud music, shouting, etc until the wee hours and then again all during the day. As for the larger Akumal “Community”, you will like it if you need to feel secure as there is a gate through which you pass from Akumal Bay to Half Moon Bay (North Akumal) and it is very much a mostly US/Cdn tourist community. That said, Bellamar had a large robbery while we were there – a fitness group was in residence and large sums of money, 15+ computers, laptops, etc. were stolen.

Cute and private

This is a very spacious and comfortable condo. Very clean and comes with a very friendly maintenance and cleaning crew. The location was private and easy to walk to a cenote and wonderful restaurants with beach views. I was disappointed on seeing an extremely rocky beach front. Wearing water shoes were a must and snorkeling was fun. I had others with me that reviewed the listing and they thought it had a walk out to a sandy beach with the rocky area way off.

Amazing week in Akumal

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend his vacation right next to the beach in a clean, beautiful and quiet place. Great location. Safe place. Very good restaurants.

A haven for our family

Great place to stay in the north Half Moon Bay. Our family of 5 loved this very laid back experience. Our hosts had a ton of information available to us, which really helped with our stay! The pool was wonderful, and the view from the unit was gorgeous! Everything was well stocked. We had a little trouble with the air conditioning our first day, but the problem was fixed within a few hours. Thanks for a great stay!

Amazing Stay!

Another 5 star review for this beautiful beachfront property. Pros: : Location,Location, Location. Its on the Akumal Half Moon bay as listed at the top of the bay, probably one of the best locations IMO on the bay and a huge plus in this location is that the stinking seaweed problem plaguing most of the Riviera Maya coastline is almost non-existent here. Being on the ground floor is a huge plus here as you have an amazing view into the bay and windows in front open to feel and hear the sea breeze. The unit has AC units in both the bedrooms and the main room and was a huge plus as it did get pretty hot at night even with the fans. During the day, AC is not needed as others have noted. The king size beds in both bedrooms were extremely comfortable and our two boys slept on the couches in the main living room which they enjoyed. Enough towels are there also to use for the beach or any water trips that one might do. The unit is beautifully decorated and adds to the ambiance of the vacation. The owners were extremely responsive to our inquiries and gave us valuable info. As others have noted, having a vehicle is extremely helpful and almost necessary. The place is about a 10 minute drive from the main Akumal entrance. From the airport, it took us about 90 minutes to get to the condo. The pool in the back of the condo is gorgeous and is heated and my boys kept going back and forth from the bay to the pool. Yal Ku Lagoon behind the condo is also gorgeous but does cost $14 per person to go in. Use the road going straight back from the condo as the one on the right is more expensive. Its a 3-4 minute walk so not needed to use the more expensive location on the right. I would highly recommend Xacaret parks, Xel Ha and Xplorer. They are about 25 minutes from the condo. The stores at Akumal such as the Super Chomak have most basic amenities one needs but we did go to the Cheudrai in Peurto Aventuras the closest town and they have a good selection of groceries and sundries. The restaurants in Akumal were decent and we had breakfast almost every day at Turtle Bay Bakery which probably is the best breakfast joint in Akumal. The view from La Buena Vida was amazing but the food was just OK. I would recommend driving to Puerto Aventuras for dinner as they have a bigger selection of restaurants which is about a 20 minute drive from the condo. I would highly highly recommend this condo for stays and we hope to back in the future ourselves.

Clean, quiet, comfortable and close to fun

Our family of 4 had a great time here. It was nice and quiet. The maid service was great and the house was always clean. Paul was prompt with responses to our queries and directions and instructions for access were clear. The property management company was very close by and always staffed. They even helped us get cheap tickets to XCaret. There are many restaurants close by with great food. There is also a lagoon within walking distance which we really wanted to go to but ran out of time. We also went snorkeling at Akumal bay which was a lot of fun. The views from this place are amazing and we usually slept with the windows wide open with the sea breeze going and sounds of waves. When we were away, there were safes and locks for our valuables so we always felt secure in that front. I would recommend this place highly.

Spectacular Location!

If you could find a better spot on the Mayan Riviera, let us know, because Paul & Mona's place exceeded our wildest dreams. Being about 20 steps from the condo to some of the best snorkeling you'll find anywhere was beyond what we could've envisioned. The lounge chairs on the beach were ideal. Half Moon Bay is full of more colors of blue that you can imagine and the views are never to be forgotten. We love the beautiful, colorful town of Akumal with its small-town charm. The only challenge we had during our 5-night stay was the lack of hot water for a couple days. The problem was finally solved with Paul & Mona's help from afar. The beds are super comfortable and the air conditioning works well. Of all the great things we did on the trip, nothing could top the location of La Sirena #2. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else...

Fantastic Stay!

My family of 4 stayed over Christmas and New Year. The view was phenomenal, the snorkeling ok; lots of fish, sea urchins, stingrays and we even saw squid! But the coral reefs are almost all dead in the immediate swimming area. The hosts were wonderful and very responsive. The location was close to many destinations while still tucked away for a quiet night. The description of the property is spot on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the home was fantastic. Don't hesitate on booking!

Comfortable, welcoming, happy place to spend a few days

My family (three kids, hubbie and I) just spend a wonderful five days at La Sirena #2. We were impressed with Paul and Mona's attentiveness and service while preparing for the trip, and when we arrived we found that thoughtfulness in apparent in the condo - from the lovely guest book, to the great selection of books and board games, to the well-appointed kitchen. Steps out back is the ever-changing bay and an entertaining selection of birds and animals. The kids enjoyed the pool and we all loved walking to dinner and playing board games in the lanai. Great vacation!

It was perfect!

We went for a wedding, so had the opportunity to check out several other condos in the area. All were really nice, but I always thought to myself that “ours is nicer”. It was well and tastefully appointed. It didn’t feel like a rental. The furnishings were lovely, pots and pans were nice, the dishes were cute. When we go back to Akumal, we’re staying there again!

Best place I've stayed at in the Mayan Riviera

I have visited the Mayan riviera consistently over the last 10 or so years and have stayed in many different homes / hotels throughout this period, I can gladly say that this is the place I will definitely go back to. In short, the condo has everything you need, its very clean, its 40 steps from the water, the people attending to the property are very nice and has a lot of different restaurants / bars you can visit within a walking distance. I highly recommend!!!

La Sirena #2 - Awesome Views

In short, we loved it. Two couples shared this condo and the consensus was "It's awesome." The views are spectacular. You feel like you are on the beach when you are in the living room. The bay is just steps away with great snorkeling. The condo is well equipped with everything you need except food. Fresh water is delivered regularly and the maid comes daily, if you want, for a small tip. The master bedroom is nice and roomy; the other bedroom is a little tight, but still comfortable. The water pressure in the master shower left a little to be desired, but that is not uncommon in Mexico. Nearby restaurants are also wonderful. We particularly like La Lunita for its fresh sushi, guac and margaritas. Everything we had was excellent and a gorgeous view. The owner, condo personnel and management company were all responsive if we needed anything. The condo grounds are beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful condo with beachfront location

Loved our stay on half moon bay in Akumal! A family friendly locale about 25 minutes from Tulum. Lots to do in the area. We explored the ruins of Coba and Tulum, visited a few cenotes, and snorkeled at Yal Ku bay, which is a short walk from the place. I loved the snorkeling straight outside the condo! Thplace was clean and comfortable. The owners were very interested in our having a great stay! Would definitely return to Akumal and this lovely condo!

Awesome Akumal condo

Thank you Paul and Mona for another lovely Akumal experience. This beach front condo provided the perfect haven for laying on the beach, swimming in the pool, visits to Tulum and snorkeling in Cenotes. We liked being on the first floor and having the beach right outside our back Dope. And being within walking distance to restaurants was a plus. We are already planning a return trip for next year. Extremely relaxing two weeks on Half Moon Bay, with plenty of sun, swimming, snorkeling.

My husband and I shared La Sirena 2 with another couple and found that it had everything we needed for a peaceful respite in a beautiful part of the Riviera Maya. Awakening to the sound of the sea was a treat and such close proximity to the water (bay or pool) was glorious. While other properties on the Riviera Maya were contending with excesses of seaweed, La Sirena's location on the bay left it relatively clear of the stuff, a plus if you enjoy swimming in the salt water. Swim shoes are a must if you plan to swim in the bay. Snorkeling wasn't amazing, but there was enough to see to make it interesting. We did spend a morning at Yal Ku Lagoon, which is just footsteps from La Sirena, and there were plenty of colorful fish to see. We cooked some meals at La Sirena and found the kitchen well stocked; everything worked well. We had a little trouble making the television and DVD player work, but suspect our limited technological skills were to blame. We were happy to find a Rummikub game and a jigsaw puzzle or two. We contributed the puzzle we brought with us to the collection. Air conditioning worked well, but we found we didn't need it most of the time. The two king beds were very comfortable. The master bedroom's shutters did limit privacy a bit, but it was a lovely room with plenty of storage and space. Bathrooms worked well; we found we had to wait a bit for hot water, but that wasn't a hardship. The cleaning people did a great job, were very pleasant and helpful when we had questions. We've been at home for only two days (12 degrees in NH), and are already talking about our next stay in Akumal. Thank you for everything.

Most relaxing vacation

Our condo on the beach was wonderful...spacious, pretty, well equipped, and so comfortable. It really felt like home. We practically had the private beach right off the screened in porch to go ourselves and the view of the beach and water is so soothing. The place is quiet and yet so near good restaurants and places of interest. We really liked that Akumal has no high rise buildings.

Fantastic property - couldn't have wished for more

Traveled late July/early August with my nephews. I really wanted to stay at this complex but was having a difficult time booking due to most units not having their VRBO or Homeaway calendars up to date. I don't know how I missed this one in my search, but having just about given up, I found this unit owned by Paul and Mona (and rented directly through them). I couldn't have asked for a better unit. We had absolutely everything we needed for our stay; the kitchen was fully stocked, there was snorkeling gear for the bay, a clothesline in the screened in patio and the unit is comfortably furnished. Even the beds were comfortable, and that is a rarity in Mexico where the mattresses tend to be hard. We used the air conditioning sparingly as requested, but when we absolutely needed it, it cooled everything down in record time. Paul and Mona provide a welcome basked of baked goods and coffee from Turtle Bay which were enjoyed immensely by my nephews over the week. The walk to town is a little over a mile each way, I think; if the heat bothers you, you can rent a golf cart or bikes. All in all, this is a terrific place to stay.
