Our apartment was spacious, comfortable, ultra-clean and beautifully appointed - both in terms of the furnishings and the kitchenware. Apartment manager Emily gave a very warm welcome and was most helpful in providing maps of the area and tips for things to do. We really wished we'd stayed longer than our three nights there.

This was by far the best stopover on our Swiss tour. The apartment was so beautiful and spacious. It had everything we need to enjoy our stay. Emily our host was very warm and welcoming. She arranged for transportation to come pick us up at the train and help us with our luggage to the rental. We even enjoyed a view of the mountain.

I just returned from a week long stay at Matthiol Serviced Apartments in Zermatt. We were in apartment 8, on the top floor with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the rooms had bathrooms in the rooms and the third was off the hallway. Space and privacy for our party of six. The path to the apartment is indeed steep and a little slippery but with care, it can be managed. If you are not in decent shape, this climb would be difficult. With the high altitude and the steep hill, we all sounded like we had just completed a 5K run when we reached the top. The hotel sent a taxi for us and they loaded our luggage onto a engine powered cart and drove it up the hill, thankfully. We did have to carry our luggage back down at the end of the week but thankfully, the taxi driver came up the hill to help and took one of my suitcases for me. Laundry: I do not recommend doing laundry there as we didn't quite figure out the washer. It would lock and you couldn't stop it or get your clothes out. Probably our user error but it was a hassle. It also took an eternity to dry the clothes. We gave up and hung our clothes in the room. If you do want to wash your clothes, make sure you ask about and understand the directions that are provided in the laundry room. We bought our own soap to use at the grocery store. Speaking of grocery stores, you will want to purchase paper towels and baggies or maybe leftover containers if you are going to cook. There was aluminum foil there but no paper towels or small plastic containers. The kitchen had the basic needs covered. A toaster oven but no microwave, and a toaster and stove top and oven and full size fridge. There is no ice to be purchased in Zermatt, as far as I could see! We used a leftover plastic egg carton to fill up to use for ice cubes. They provide you with enough wood to make at least 3 lovely fires, but I suggest you buy a lighter or some matches as we went through our box and had trouble on the last night, lighting the fire. The rooms are so nice and soundproof--I could hear nothing from anyone in the living room when I was in the bedroom and you can't hear your neighbors or anything outside. We had a little trouble with our bathroom folding door. It would not stay shut but that was not really a big deal. We also had a lot of fun trying to figure out the light switches. There might be a rhyme and reason to them but it was interesting to see what turned on what. We brought a plug adapter for the outlets and it worked just fine for our chargers and our flat irons and curling irons. A hair dryer is provided. I suggest bringing a backpack so when you get your groceries, it's easier to carry them up the hill back to the apartment. There is a Denner's down the road that has just about everything you need. Remember to weigh your fruit and get the sticker to put on it! We stayed in and cooked a few times and had spaghetti one night and tomato soup and grilled cheese another night. The reviews of Zermatt are correct in that the restaurants are very expensive. Stay in a couple of nights with your $6 bottle of wine and enjoy the fire. We were all very happy with the apartment. Very clean, very spacious. A nice big coffee table perfect for playing cards and a nice long dining table for our meals. I also was very pleased with the tourism office-extremely helpful from ski passes to where you can get a stamp. Everything in Zermatt is in walking distance--if you aren't wearing ski boots and carrying skis! if you are, take the bus. If you have a day to yourself and are just walking, it's very lovely. The museum was great, Glacier Paradise is very nice--but check the hours! We didn't know it closed at 4 and were rushing to see everything. Fuchs Bakery by the river has a wonderful outdoor seating area that is perfect for the morning sun. Take your time to figure out where things are and you'll be zipping along like a local in no time.

The apartment was spacious and so clean. The wellness centre with sauna and jacuzzi was perfect. The negative points were the long path from main road to the apartment that you have to go on foot and it would be very slippery in winter time. Also for departure we asked to book taxi twice and the taxi didn't come and we had to go to train station on foot.

Our apartment was conveniently located being close to the train station, and the adjoining train station to the Gornergratt glacier. They do offer free taxi service to the apartment from the train station which we took advantage of because we had a lot of luggage, and groceries and were with our two kids and their significant others. The only complaint we have is that the taxi can not get anywhere close to the main entrance. We walked quite the distance from the street to the lobby up quite an incline and many steps with all of our luggage in tow. Overall the apartment is all that it promises. Modern. Spacious. Immaculate. Our Unit, #4, had an awesome spacious balcony with spectacular views of the Matterhorn. A bit Pricey, but not all that bad when considering there were six of us, all in our own bedrooms.

Apartments are clean and look similar to pictures. All of the bedrooms have 2 single beds pushed together. Our friend was sleeping in one alone and fell in between the 2 in the middle of the night. They slide apart way too easily! The fireplace did not work. They said they would send a technician and never did. They do not provide basic amenities. Be prepared to purchase toilet paper, tissues, trash bags. Kitchen is minimally stocked. You must do the dishes constantly especially if you have a group of six. Luckily my boyfriend's 70 year old mother is in great condition. My mother could NOT have stayed here. The path to the place is long, narrow, and icy. You do have to carry luggage up this path. Pack light! This place seems to be run by a woman that lives there. She does everything. I get the impression they are short on money because of the lack of providing the basics. I don't feel we got what we paid for. I expected to pay more in a ski area. We stayed at a place in Rome following our stay here. Rome put this place to shame. Providing the basics makes a huge difference!! The skiing was all thin, narrow, short runs. Even the smallest mountains in the States are more enjoyable. Maybe off piste makes it better in a good snow year? The town is overrun with electric taxis that will hit you if you don't get out of the way. It seems a bit ridiculous how many there are. The town is so small and walkable. The views are incredible! I'm sure the hiking in the summer is amazing as well. The view of the Matterhorn from Matthiol Apartments is beautiful! If you are only concerned about the view and cleanliness this is your place!

Our stay at Matthiol Serviced Apartement was great. The place was huge, clean, quiet, and rustic with a stunning view of Matterhorn. We had a 3 bedroom apartment with balcony. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the spa facilities, it was amazing! Will definitely come back.

We stayed recently at Matthiol Serviced Apts and the house was as described, alike the photos, clean, minimal and generally ok for 6 people. But there were some serious problems in our stay caused by the location of the property. It was very difficult to reach it with all the luggage we were carying for a 5 day ski vacation ( our personal things and the ski equipment). We arrived on a snowy late afternoon, the path was not lighted and clean and we had to climb it carrying our things... also there were many stairs. In addition to all that, one couple of us had a 5 month baby for which we have asked a baby bed , and they told us upon arrival that it wasnt available.Imagine what the mother felt alike.... Also, since we were 7 people, we arrived in different times (2 at 5, 5 at 8)and the second group, with the baby, was not transfered by the hotel as described in our booking but despite that, they told us to take a cab on our expenses. The property, although it sais has a concierge 24hrs, couldnt find a solution for the baby bed which made us all upset on our arrival. The concierge was 2 amateurs... The kitchen is basically equipped and not fully as described. There wasnt even a kettle or a toast maker. On a kitchen shelf there was a paper left from the hotel indicating some numbers to call for any kind of assistance may needed, but there wasnt a phone. So we had to call from our personal mobile phones and we are not Swiss, so we were charged with all the roaming charges just for toilet paper. In general, much work has to be done form the owners in order to function properly ...and ofcourse they have to mention the exact location and the way to there.
