I have stayed for two weeks on a business trip in December and again this month and have been really impressed by the hotel itself, the service and comfort but primarily by the wonderful staff there. From the fabulous people in Reception to the delightful staff in the Restaurant/Bar to Derek the Manager, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know really good people, friendly, warm, engaging, funny but thoroughly professional. This hotel has provided me with first class customer service, good food, a lovely atmostphere, great business support and I should also mention that the rooms I have stayed in have been absolutely great. Thank you!! Pat
terrible mattress, cold room due to an open window (December), very expensive meal in the restaurant that was bland. the continental breakfast was so stale and dry, we couldn't eat it. we had heard such good things-- did not live up. Also, pet "friendly" means one small dog that is $80 extra per night. In this age of truly "pet friendly" hotels-- the Beechwood's attitude was surprising. one redeeming quality-- the staff was very helpful and nice.
This was the first time in the 8 years I have been traveling to Worcester for sports competitions that we have stayed here. It was a last minute decision as we only live an hour away. However with a major snowstorm, we thought we should get a hotel room. The rate is reasonable, and the hotel is very pretty. Our room was cozy with a comfortable bed. We had a very nice (but expensive) dinner in the hotel restaurant. When we arrived I did ask if we could have a late check out. There was already a list of rooms that had requested the same, so we were at the bottom of the list. This morning as we were trying to sleep in, we had people talking very loud outside our room. Usually, not much you can do about that. But I poked my head out and it was the cleaning staff. These rooms seem to have paper thin walls and they were talking in louder than necessary voices. So much for extra sleep. Then, went down to inquire about the later check out. We were approved for 1:00, but I had asked for 2:00. So, they only way they would let us stay the extra hour was to pay the 1/2 day rate. I better make the most of that hour for $97. Then, we tried to go to the free breakfast. A very long line, so we skipped it. Overall, nice hotel. But would have appreciated a little more sleep and the later check out.
Had a nice overnight stay at Beechwood Hotel. The rooms are nice and staff were helpful. The public spaces seem to be the best feature - a very nice restaurant and outdoor spaces (better in the spring and summer). I appreciated the free continental breakfast and the efficient workout room.
Overall the hotel is reasonable. It's a bit confusing to get to, since the GPS navigation confuses the roads frequently. My significant other and I submitted some changes to google maps which may improve your experience. The hotel was clean, functional, and animal friendly. When dogs got out of hand, they were quick to address the situation. For example, one dog was barking while his owners were at dinner. The front desk informed them that their dog was 'in distress' and required their attention. They welcome animals, but only well behaved animals. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast bar in the morning. They didn't have any selection! No cereals! Who doesn't put out cheap cereals in the morning? The wait staff at the restaurant was also fairly rude and wouldn't assist my father-in-law with getting butter. Only after becoming upset at their rudeness did a staff member assist. I believe that the restaurant staff is to blame for the bad experience, and not the hotel staff. This hotel is right next to UMASS hospital, so if you're a light sleeper you might hear ambulances or helicopters. I'm a light sleeper and I didn't have much of a problem, but I was very tired.
This hotel needs some improvements. Installations are old, breakfast is poor, internet connection is quite nonexistent, service is terrible. Why do you have to pay for a service that you do not receive?
Nice hotel price about 20 percent too high check in painfully slow 3 and a half star rating food prices very pricey rooms on the smallest side entrance and exit very confusing plenty of parking lounge empty and no pool
The staff, rooms, and service were exemplary. We had room 109 which offered a wonderful view of the lush grounds and patio area. This room is located by the entrance, front desk, and restaurant with plantation shutters for privacy & a huge luxurious bathroom. Definitely worth the money. My only complaint would be the breakfast buffet. There was only 1 inadequate toaster which should be replaced with 2 professional grade toasters. Scrambled eggs should be added to the buffet to offer a hot breakfast option without an extra charge.
Each staff person was friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. They made my family feel as though they were being welcomed into a friend's home. Add to that the convenient location, large, clean rooms and free breakfast and it's a winning combination. If your visit to Worcester involves the UMass Medical Center, the Beechwood is directly across the street.
I stayed here on business and the service was very good. I've read that some of the rooms are outdated, but mine had evidently been updated. It was good size, with comfortable furniture (a small seating area, in addition to a desk) with Keurig coffee maker. Bed was comfortable, but i could hear the phone conversation of my next door neighbor. Very nice restaurant attached, with nice ambience and outdoor seating. The bar is a little strange funky, but the service was good and nice selection - very good wine list. i like charm of the hotel over the generic business hotels. If I'm in Worcester again, i would stay here. Grumpy old guy rating: Thumbs up
