This location was wheelchair friendly in that the whole resort is on a hill with the town center area located in a newer section that is geographically flat. However, if you are staying in the older section, they have two handicap (van) spots on either side of the residential building (four levels) that was adjacent to the pool area. To enter the main building where you register, you will have to locate the ramp on the eastern side of the building. There was a sign out front directing you to the ramp for entry, which you can see when you pull into the driveway. Overall, the walls and any connecting doors were very thin so you can hear conversations as well as people walking above you and next to you. The room we stayed in was an end unit so we only heard noise on one side and above us. We stayed in a one-bedroom roll-in shower suite with some features that were accessible and others that were completely off the mark with regard to accessibility. The entry to the residential building was wheelchair accessible albeit the parking is not on a level grade; including the walkways. The door to the suite was accessible with locks and handles that were low and easy to reach. Once inside, the floors were wood laminate with low pile bedroom carpet and tile in the bathroom. The thermostats in the living room and bedroom are easy to reach. However, if you have visual issues, it is hard to determine on the screen between the heat and ac as the digital icons were very small. As for the bathroom, there was a roll-in shower but it does have a small ramp to get up into it. It has a shower bench off the back wall with the shower controls right next to the bench. There were also separate controls for the overhead shower for your able body companion. We found that the water did exit the shower as there was no slope in the shower pan and there was no drain in the floor of the bathroom to capture it. (No mopping apparatus in the suite so towels had to be used). The other entrance to the bathroom was from the bedroom, however, it becomes blocked if you put down the fold-down grab bar by the toilet. There was a grab bar on the wall behind the toilet. Between the fold-down grab bar and the toilet there was very little room between you and the wall next to the toilet. The wash/dryer combo machine was also located in the bathroom. The height of the queen bed in the bedroom was 27 inches, but the metal bed frame was not attached to the headboard so it could be removed to drop the bed down to a manageable height of 20 inches. If you have a Hoyer lift, the metal frame underneath does give you enough clearance provided it is not above 5 inches. The lamp switches on the night tables do not have extra plug outlets for your phone or tablet, but there are outlets next to the night tables but not within reach of the bed. Some other encumbrances found in this suite: 1. To open and close the blind in the bedroom, there was a chain that you had to pull up and down. 2. The fan above the bed did not have a remote control to change the speed. 3. The phone to reach the Holiday Inn Club Staff was on a side table in the living room that was obstructed by an overstuffed chair. 4. The sink in the kitchen was roll-under but the cooking area was not. 5. The counter for the bar area was bar height and there was no other dining area in the suite. 6. The lowest shelf in the upper cabinets was not reachable from a wheelchair. 7. There was only one microwave oven and it was above the stove and not reachable from a wheelchair. 8. The resort was not wheelable unless you have some power to go up the hills. Further, you will need a vehicle as the area does not have any sidewalks to reach stores or restaurants nearby.
We did an exchange through our timeshare and were very pleased with our stay. The grounds are beautiful and there’s lots of parking available. It has a country setting, but conveniently located to lots of stores and tourist sites. Especially if you want to visit Yorktown, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg or Busch’s Gardens. The unit we stayed in was clean, up to date and comfortable. We even had a fireplace which was easy to turn on. Also included a lovely patio balcony off of our bedroom. Almost all the kitchen supplies are included if you want to do your own cooking. I needed a couple of extra pitchers, which they promptly delivered. Plenty of towels and toiletries. A nice jacuzzi was in the spacious bathroom. My only criticism would be that the TVs were a bit small for the size of the rooms. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. If you want a discount on any tickets, they will give you them if you don’t mind attending a 90 minute low pressure sales presentation. We got half off of Busch Gardens tickets. I would definitely go back there.
My husband, kids, and I accompanied my mom on a trip to Williamsburg as she own a timeshare here. We stayed 3 nights in one of the newer buildings. Overall we had a good time. This is a small property so there wasnt much to do in comparison to other properties but it was our speed. There are several pools, however, only the indoor pool was open due to the time of year. There were cool activities such as making slime, play dough, sangria and soap making... The bowling was down our entire trip, management stated that it was an issuse with the bowling company. Our accommodations were great; fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, fireplace. Very nice. Great staff. I will definitely return. Only down side is that we arrived at 1pm and we were not allowed to check in till almost 4pm. It did not appear to be crowded as we arrived on a Thursday afternoon is October so I'm not sure why we couldn't check in sooner. A lil inconvenience when having kids but it wasnt the end of the world.
Wonderful resort. Comfortable, good sized suites with all the amenities expected. Staff was very helpful in recommending places to visit as well as providing helpful hints for our tours. No restaurant on site but plenty nearby.
As soon as we walked into out first level room until bedtime we heard kids from the upstairs room running and playing. Plus, the master bedroom is located toward the parking lot and the 2nd bedroom window is by the walkway! So needless to say it was very hard for us to get some rest with these paper thin rooms. There was a curtain attached to the master bedroom window, but they didnt think about covering the blinds to the patio door that was also located in the room. So we couldn't keep the room dark as we like it from the morning sunrise. The beds in the 2nd room are only meant for 1 person who is shorter than 6ft tall. I couldn't believe how small they were! The view from the patio is the parking lot. The plus side was the kids enjoyed the swimming pool and the livingroom/kitchen layouts were nice. We only stayed 3 days so we fortunately did not get the 9am harrasment timeshare presentation calls. We are timeshare owners and used our points to stay here. Its definitely NOT like the sister resorts in Kissimmee, FL or Myrtle Beach, SC! Even though its convenient to Water Country, Busch Gardens, and the Premium Outlet, you run the risk of having sleepless nights here.
Was a smaller quaint resort. Many great restaurants nearby. Activities indoors during rainy days. Suite sizes huge with everything you’ll need to prepare family meals . Things to do around the resort without paying additional fees. Staff is friendly and professional.
Stayed here with 4 family members in a 2 bedroom unit and had a great stay. We had booked one of the upgraded units which was very nicely appointed. There was enough space for everyone to be comfortable. My brothers enjoyed the bowling alley on site. I like how close we were to shopping and nearby restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.
The grounds are eye catching and the condos/suites are updated and look nice. Have a neighbor above you/next to you? Expect to hear EVERYTHING. Footsteps, kids running, chairs sliding, and so on. I considered investing and even recruiting family-you couldn't pay me to stay here again. I've been in my fare share of hotels/condos and this was by far the noisiest. Their reaction? An apology. 3 day headache almost had me find another place to stay. Surely I'm not the only one having to deal with baybays kids running for HOURS throughout the condo. I feel bad for members, as it's anything but quiet and relaxing. Then there's the toilet handle that falls off, towel ring holder did the same, shower nozzles are loose as well. Pillows smelled like stale laundry (like how you leave it in the washer for 2 days), I rewashed the cases, no big deal. And I was in an "upgraded suite". Also, no wifi the entire stay. Minimal cell signals don't help. Pool was hot tub temps (heat wave, I get it, but that has to be festering with germs). But great staff, pretty grounds and nice looking condos. Wish I could say more but I'm distracted by the toddler above me who never sits down.
We are Signature members of Holiday Inn Club Vacations and I must say that this is one of the best resorts that we have stayed at. We have stayed at different Holiday In Club Vacation resorts and this one is up there in quality and experience. They just opened the new Signature Collection rooms and they did a great job with them. So much so that my wife got some inspiration for redoing some parts of our home. Thanks Holiday Inn! The club house area is very nice with the bowling alley, half court basket ball, indoor salt water pool, outdoor pool and small general store. The only thing that I would suggest would be to do some upgrades to the the mini golf. Some new additional features or decorations goes a long way. There is a Walmart close by that you can get groceries for your room and if you aren't into cooking all the time, there are restaurants within 15 minutes of the resort. Overall it is a great place to stay and we will definitely come back!
Clientele was trashy...heard more cursing around the property than I hear on a construction site...including a 10 year old boy on the mini golf cursing out his little sister (had to get my little guy away from there). Kid throws up in the pool but they don't put up a sign to worn you...only found out from another guest after my little guy jumped in. Demising walls are paper thin...neighbors yelling and cursing...rap music (more foul language)...all heard clearly in our room including late at night. Security/management was either unwilling or unable to enforce quiet hours...and there is no one available to contact after 11:00 PM. Last night there my little guy was awake scared because of the yelling next door. If you're into a college frat style experience this place might be good for you. If you want something classier, quieter, have little kids, etc. you may want to look elsewhere. For me, never again.
